Baseball WA continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation while working with State and Federal Governments, Baseball Australia and our state and territory counterparts to develop the safest strategy for getting back to baseball activity.
As the landscape continues to evolve across the states and territories, Baseball WA is working toward a return to activity based on the National Principles for the Resumption of Sport and Recreation Activities. These principles will set the precedent for the eventual return to community sports, and in order to safely return to activity, we must follow these principles along with the AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport in a COVID-19 Environment. Currently in a draft framework, these principles will be approved in part or full by the Federal Government and then enacted by the States and Territories with additional requirements. The Perth Baseball Club is seeking expressions of interest for the following positions for the 2020-2021 season.
The State League Coach is required to manage the State League team on game days and coordinate/run 2 x mid-week training sessions for the SL1, SL2. Work closely with the SL2 Team Coaches. Baseball WA is saddened to hear of the passing of Roy Watson, a former Claxton Shield representative and inaugural inductee of the Braves Legends Club.
Roy was much-loved by the Braves and he was inducted as a club legend in 2013. He spent many years playing baseball with the Braves, and he was a talented sportsman in both baseball and cricket. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in changes to baseball in the immediate future, Baseball WA remains committed to connecting with the baseball community across social media. With that in mind, Baseball WA is excited to officially announce the launch of an Instagram account dedicated to all things baseball across WA.
Instagram is just one part of Baseball WA’s increased efforts to enhance media coverage across multiple platforms and showcase more amazing baseball achievements. Further to updates provided on Thursday, 18th March, Baseball Australia has make the difficult but necessary decision to postpone all Little League national events:
