Baseball Australia has announced the provisional 44-player list of invitees to April’s National Junior Camp, including eight players from Western Australia:
These athletes, along with their peers from NSW, QLD, VIC, and SA, were chosen for the camp following an in-depth review of data collected at the 2022 National Showcase Series events, including the Rays Showcase in WA. “After the success of the Rays Showcase Series for the second straight year, we are excited to see these deserving WA players invited to the National Junior Camp,” Baseball WA CEO Lachlan Dale said. “They have worked extremely hard to showcase their skills and improve their game, and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish at April’s camp and beyond.” Baseball WA High Performance Manager Andy Kyle shares the sentiment. “Congratulations to the Perth Heat Futures athletes, an opportunity to represent your country is always an honour and a huge accomplishment,” Kyle said. “It has been pleasing to see the progress of these athletes over the past 12 months, and I am proud of the way our WA players have handled themselves in such uncertain times. They have stayed the course and given themselves an opportunity to go to camp and put their best foot forwards.” “I am confident, along with the other high performance coaches, that we have chosen a very competitive squad for the Easter Camp.” After April’s camp, a National Junior Squad will be picked to travel to the U.S. in late August before being finalised ahead of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Florida. With COVID-19 in the community, it is important to know what to do to keep yourself and others safe.
Baseball WA remains committed to the health and safety of our baseball community in line with government testing and isolation protocols, as highlighted above. The WA State Government has also produced the following infographics to help explain the testing and isolation protocols in a number of scenarios. I have tested positive for COVID-19 I am not a close contact and I have symptoms I am a close contact and I have no symptoms I am a close contact who develops symptoms I am a close contact and a critical worker For further information, please visit the State Government's COVID-19 website or check out BWA’s full COVID update. Baseball WA is seeking expressions of interest from current and former students of WA's five universities who would be interested in playing in a Unisport carnival/tournament representing their university.
In order for Unisport to allow us to proceed, we need to demonstrate that each university has sufficient interest to form a team. We have created a Google Form to gather interest from those who would be eligible - being current and former students (those in Year 12 are encouraged to also respond under the university they hope to attend next year). This is not a commitment for you to compete but just a data collection process to support our application to be approved to run the event. Please click HERE to complete the form ASAP - the link will be active until the end of February. Baseball WA is excited to announce the Western Australia Under 16’s Squad ahead of the 2022 Australian U-16 Youth Championship in Redcliffe, Queensland this July.
Head coach Kent Fitzgibbons and assistant coaches Brandon Migro and Daniel Calverley will help guide a talented group of players to success on and off the field, with training commencing in May. Two on-field training sessions each week and strength and conditioning with Diamond Fitness will help prepare players for the national tournament, which is set to take place during the July school holidays with dates being finalised by Baseball Australia shortly. “Congratulations to all state team players. Achieving selection to be a part of any Western Australian team is an incredible honour, and we look forward to supporting these athletes as they work toward selection for the final team that will compete at the 2022 AYC,” Baseball WA CEO Lachlan Dale said. Stay tuned for further updates on the 2022 AYC in the coming months. |
