Baseball WA is seeking suitably motivated and available coaches to join our Sporting Schools team commencing in Term 4.
With Term 4 historically being our busiest term, we are seeking two additional facilitators to ensure all job requests are covered. Specifically, we are seeking facilitators who can deliver tee-ball, machine pitch, and Baseball 5 (although Baseball 5 is optional), specifically in schools located in the northern coastal and southern coastal regions of Perth where we currently have difficulty meeting demand. An hourly rate is paid to all facilitators with flexible availability. If you are interested in joining the team, please email Participation Program Manager David Hayes ASAP at [email protected]. 2021/22 Tee-Ball Super Challenge nominations are now open, and all clubs are encouraged to join in the fun as the tournament enters its third year.
Following the success of the 2020 Tee-Ball Super Challenge, won by Wanneroo Joondalup Tee Ball Club, we are looking forward to another great tournament. Baseball WA is pleased to share that youth girls teams will now wear black pants following a new ruling based on a recent research study by Victoria University and the Institute For Health and Sport.
With young males 15-17 years three times more likely than young females to engage in 60 minutes of daily exercise, it’s important to ensure girls are comfortable in their uniforms and given the resources and support they need to succeed. A National Study on What Girls Want in Sports Uniforms found that 64% of girls prefer to wear dark coloured bottoms in sport outside of school. The new recommendations for sport uniform policies are based on:
Sporting organizations are encouraged to supply uniforms with material consisting of three main features:
Baseball WA will ensure these recommendations for black girls baseball pants are followed moving forward. Please note girls participating in programs and competitions alongside male athletes will continue to wear the coloured pants associated with those teams. The new policy only applies in cases where all athletes in the team or program are junior females. Baseball WA is pleased to announce BWA Hall of Fame nominations are now open for 2022.
The BWA Heritage Committee and the BWA Hall of Fame Panel are looking forward to new nominees after the inaugural 34 inductees were honoured at this year’s BWA Awards Night. The BWA Hall of Fame features players and officials dating back to the 1930s who have shaped our beloved sport in WA through elite performance on the field. Club nominations were vital in establishing the first round of inductees, and after great success in recognising our champions, clubs are once again encouraged to nominate past players and members. Please contact your club regarding players that you believe are deserving of such a prestigious honour. Nomination forms for previously submitted players should be updated with additional information and testimonials to help the panel consider their candidacy. Nominations for the 2022 induction close Saturday 30 October 2021. To submit nominations and learn more about the BWA Hall of Fame click HERE. Please email [email protected] with any questions and the Heritage Committee and a designated resource will contact you as required.
