Baseball WA is excited to continue Winter League for another season in 2024.
The inaugural Winter League season was a fantastic blend of competitive yet social baseball with multiple grades available for all skill levels and even new players. “As a short 10 to 12-week season, this is the perfect lead-in to summer baseball with all Winter League Games played on Saturdays from May through to July,” Competition Manager Jes Fitzgerald said. “We look forward to another awesome year with existing Winter League clubs and would be pleased to see new teams and clubs join us, too.” Winter League has a few modifications from our regular summer leagues, with pitchers being limited to three innings per game and no new innings to commence with 15 minutes left in scheduled playing time. We are seeking women’s team nominations, but the regular divisions within Winter League are open to all players no matter the gender. Harcher State League is heating up with Rockingham, UWA Magpies, Wanneroo, Swan Districts, and Perth taking out the wins this past weekend.

Rockingham Rams 19, South Perth Souths 14 Ashton Crouch showed a strong eye at the plate on Sunday, as Crouch walked five times while leading Rockingham Rams to a 19-14 victory over South Perth Souths. Both offenses were strong at the plate as Rockingham collected 15 hits and South Perth had 17 in the high-scoring affair. Rams got on the board in the second inning after Korbyn Wilson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. South Perth flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs on seven hits to take a 7-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two. South Perth scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Adam Barbarich singled, scoring one run, Caleb Goodwin homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Daniel Atkinson tripled, scoring one. A wild pitch brought home one more run. Rockingham flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring nine runs on four hits to take a 14-13 lead. Lachlan Cahill hit a bases-clearing single. Simon Baumer’s single helped South Perth tie the game at 14 in the bottom of the seventh. In the top of the eighth, Rockingham broke up the tie when David Nichols singled, scoring one run. A single by Crouch followed to extend the lead to 17-14. Brock Molloy started the game for Rockingham. He gave up 12 hits and 12 runs (nine earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one. Goodwin led things off on the mound for South Perth, giving up five hits and five runs over five innings, striking out four and walking seven. Rockingham’s Vinnie Tarantola and Cahill each appeared in relief. Rams collected 15 hits total as Jesse Sequeira went 3-for-6 at the plate. Cahill had three RBIs from the number seven spot in the lineup. The infielder went 2-for-5 on the day. Tarantola, Jake Sheppard, and Nichols each collected multiple hits. Crouch led Rams with five of the team’s 15 walks. Crouch and Sheppard each stole multiple bases as the team had 11 total. South Perth piled up 17 hits in the game. Jaxon Limpus set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading South Perth with four hits in six at-bats. Baumer, Goodwin, Barbarich, Kane Cole, and Limpus each drove in two runs. Noah Green, Cameron Landy, and Atkinson each collected multiple hits as Green stole two bases. South Perth turned one double play in the game. Rockingham welcome Morley on Sunday for their next game while South Perth visits Wanneroo on Saturday. Swan Districts Swans 4, Carine Cats 2 Swan Districts Swans outdid Carine Cats 4-2 on Sunday at Maida Vale Reserve D1. Carine got on the board in the second inning after Josh Molen singled, scoring one run. Swan Districts took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Michael De Gasperis homered to left field and Carine committed an error, each scoring one run. Cats scored on a wild pitch, which helped Carine tie the game at two in the top of the fourth. Swan Districts took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. De Gasperis singled, scoring one run to give Swans a 3-2 lead. Dillian Clarkson earned the win for Swans. The lefty gave up two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out one and walking none. John Carlstein took the loss for Carine. The reliever went one-third of an inning, giving up one run on two hits with no strikeouts or walks. Cameron Liss stepped on the hill first for Swans. The righty surrendered four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking five. Carine starter Tim Robinson gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings with no strikeouts and two walks. De Gasperis drove the middle of the lineup, leading Swan Districts with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. Dan Carter, De Gasperis, and Cameron Phelts each collected two hits for Swans. Phelts had two of the team’s four stolen bases while the defense turned one double play. Molen went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Carine in hits. Cats turned four double plays. Swan Districts host Vic Park Belmont on Sunday and Carine has a doubleheader at Braves. UWA Magpies 11, Victoria Park Belmont 2 Michael Albertini drove in four runs on three hits to lead UWA Magpies past Victoria Park Belmont 11-2 on Sunday at Forster Park. Albertini hit a grand slam to center field in the third inning. UWA Magpies scored six runs in the third on the way to victory. Matthew Reyes hit a solo homer, followed up by Albertini’s grand slam and Riley Spring’s RBI double. UWA Magpies were first to get on the board in the second when Bradley Tate homered to left field, scoring three runs. Nick Alexiou stepped on the bump first for UWA Magpies. The starter allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking three. Curtis Bacon started on the mound for Vic Park, giving up eight hits and six runs over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking none. UWA Magpies amassed 16 hits in the game. Alexiou and Albertini each collected three hits for UWA Magpies. Bass Cooper, Jake Wilson, Spring, and Joris Van Ballegooy each collected multiple hits. UWA Magpies turned one double play in the game as they were sure-handed in the field and didn’t make any errors. Reyes had the most chances with nine. Cody Van Der Graaf, Reds’ number seven hitter, led the team with two hits in two at-bats. Josh Paull and Van Der Graaf each drove in one run. Vic Park’s defense turned two double plays in the game. UWA Magpies will travel to Gosnells on Friday and Vic Park Belmont heads to Swan Districts on Sunday. Perth 7, Gosnells Hawks 4 Perth topped Gosnells 7-4 on Sunday at Inglewood Oval. Gosnells got on the board in the first inning after Robin Adamson doubled, scoring one run. Perth captured a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the second when Jalen McGee and Josh MGee were both struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Lee Wisby induced Brady Oliphant to hit into a fielder’s choice but two runs scored. A single by McGee extended the Perth lead to 7-1 in the bottom of the third. Riley Oliphant earned the win for Perth. The reliever surrendered one hit and two runs over one inning, striking out one and walking four. Brian (Tanner) Jessen-Dalton stepped on the mound first for Perth. He gave up four hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking none. Sam Forrest stepped on the bump first for Gosnells, giving up no hits but four runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking four. Matteo Pizziconi tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Perth in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking none. Jordano Vivona, Ronnie Sweeny, Finlay Duncan, and McGee each collected one hit for Perth. McGee went 1-for-3 at the plate as the infielder led the team with three runs batted in. Perth had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game with two free passes for Kaine Newham, Sweeny, and Oliphant. Sweeny and Duncan each stole multiple bases as Perth had six SBs total, plus one double play on defense. Adamson led Gosnells with two hits in five at-bats. Wisby took two of the team’s seven walks while the defense turned three double plays. Gosnells takes on UWA Magpies on Friday night and Perth plays Wanneroo at home this Sunday. Wanneroo Giants 4, Braves 3 Wanneroo Giants defeated Braves 4-3 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. It was tied at three in the bottom of the eighth when Owen Pilcher singled, scoring one run. Braves got on the board in the second inning after Jack Rigden singled, scoring one run. Jacob Santich singled, which helped Wanneroo tie the game at three in the bottom of the seventh. Frazer Brice earned the win for Wanneroo, giving up two hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking two. Daniel Schmidt took the loss for Braves. The left-handed pitcher went two innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out none and walking none. Jacob Myer stepped on the mound first for Wanneroo. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking none. Matt Kennelly stepped on the bump first for Braves. Braves 1, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 0 Both teams were strong on the bump on Sunday, but Braves defeated Victoria Park Belmont 1-0. Matt Kennelly started the game for Braves and recorded 18 outs. Braves were first to get on the board in the fourth when an error scored one run. Kennelly earned the win for Braves. The righty gave up one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking one. Mizuki Akatsuka took the loss for Vic Park, covering six innings with one run allowed on one hit, striking out five and walking none. Tucker Smith threw one inning of shutout ball for Braves, allowing zero hits, striking out two and walking none. James Smibert led Braves with one hit in three at-bats. Kevin Clark had one run batted in as the defense was sure-handed in the field with no errors. Cody Parkinson made the most plays with 11. Victoria Park Belmont Reds 5, Braves 4 Braves fell 5-4 to Vic Park on Sunday at Frankland Park despite out-hitting them 11 to six. Reds doubled in the sixth inning to put the game just out of reach. Vic Park Belmont got on the board first when Eddie Satisky hit into a double play, but one run scored. In the bottom of the third, Braves went back into the lead after Jack Rigden hit a sacrifice fly and James Smibert singled, each scoring one run. Reds took the lead in the top of the sixth when Satisky singled, scoring one run, and Scott Combs doubled, scoring three runs. Curtis Bacon started on the bump for Victoria for Vic Park Belmont. Carine Cats 7, Morley Eagles 7 Carine and Morley drew 7-7 in Sunday’s first game at Carine Regional Open Space. Cats were first on the board with an RBI double by Cas Silber. Morley flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 5-1 lead. Matt Dixon hit a 2-RBI single. Carine tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a double by Tarrant Reimers and singles by Josh Molen and Bailey Moorfield. Conor Lourey pitched four and two-thirds innings in relief for Carine, giving up six hits and two runs while striking out five and walking two. Ethan Campbell started on the hill for Carine, allowing zero hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking three. Troy Cruz started on the hill for Morley. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out six and walking two. Carine collected nine hits in the game. Morley Eagles 9, Carine Cats 8 Morley snatched the lead late in their 9-8 victory over Carine Cats on Sunday. The game was tied at eight in the top of the seventh when George Calverley tripled, scoring one run. Morley came back to win despite trailing 4-0 in the third. Carine got on the board in the first inning after Josh Molen singled, scoring two runs. Cats added two more on Molen’s double in the third. Eagles scored five runs on five hits to take a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth. The biggest blow in the inning was an RBI double by Mitch Power. Carine retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Cooper Granland singled, scoring one run, Bailey Moorfield doubled, scoring another, and Cas Silber doubled to bring home two. Morley took the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Aaron Bonomi hit a sacrifice fly, Matt Dixon doubled, and Calverley tripled, each scoring one run. Brendan Sing pitched four innings in relief for Morley, giving up four hits and one run while striking out four and walking none. Rockingham Rams 12, UWA Magpies 10 Both Rockingham Rams and UWA Magpies had their offenses going on Sunday at Hourglass Reserve, but Rams eventually prevailed 12-10. Rockingham collected 10 hits while UWA Magpies had 15. Rams came back to win despite trailing 4-0 in the first. UWA Magpies got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jacob Davila doubled and Joris Van Ballegooy grounded out, each scoring two runs. Rockingham tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a hit by a pitch and singles by Jesse Neretlis and Jax Williams. UWA Magpies made the score 8-4 in the top of the second after Bass Cooper grounded out, scoring one run, Davila doubled, scoring two runs, and Van Ballegooy singled, scoring one run. Rockingham flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits to take an 11-8 lead. Wanneroo Giants 16, South Perth Souths 3 Dawson Summers drove in four runs on three hits to lead Wanneroo past South Perth 16-3 on Sunday at Collins Oval. Summers hit an RBI single in the fourth and a three-run homer in the ninth. A double by Jai Hewitt put South Perth on the board in the bottom of the second. Summers singled, helping Wanneroo tie the game at one in the top of the fourth. Giants went on to score five runs on four hits to take a 6-1 lead in the top of the sixth. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Daniel Bourke that drove in three. Wanneroo scored six more runs on three hits in the top of the ninth. Jacob Santich drew a walk, scoring one run and Courtney Jones hit a sacrifice fly, scoring another before Summers’ big three-run home run. Jacob Myer started the game for Wanneroo and gave up three hits and a run over four innings with six strikeouts and a walk. Swan Districts Swans 7, Gosnells Hawks 3 Swan Districts Swans were triumphant over Gosnells Hawks 7-3 on Sunday at Tom Bateman Sporting Complex Reserve. Swans got on the board in the first after Michael De Gasperis doubled, scoring one run. Gosnells got the lead back in the bottom of the first after Robin Adamson hit an RBI double and a wild pitch scored another run. In the top of the third inning, Swans went back in the lead after De Gasperis homered to right field and Gosnells made an error, each scoring a run. Rodney Tennie walked, helping Gosnells tie the game at three in the bottom of the third. Swans took the lead in the top of the fourth as Riley Ozanne grounded out, scoring one run for a 4-3 advantage. Baumer homered in the fourth and doubled in the fifth before 2-RBI singles in both the sixth and eighth innings. South Perth got on the board in the first with an RBI single from Adam Barbarich. Carine took the lead in the top of the second after Tarrant Reimers homered to left field, Bailey Moorfield was struck by a pitch, and Cas Silber walked, each scoring one run. Baumer hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the fourth for South Perth. The team regained the lead in the fifth as Brett Walters singled and Baumer doubled, both with RBIs. Morley Eagles 1, Wanneroo Giants 0 Morley Eagles defeated Wanneroo Giants 1-0 on Sunday at Mateljan Park as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Bendan Sing and Lachlan Waite took their turns on the mound, with Sing inducing a groundout from Dawson Summers to get the last out. The pitching was strong on both sides as Morley pitchers struck out five and Wanneroo sat down nine. A sacrifice fly by Aaron Bonomi put Morley on the board in the top of the third. Waite started on the mound for Morley, giving up five hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking one. Jacob Myer opened the game for Wanneroo, allowing four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Sing pitched two innings of zero-run ball for Morley in relief, giving up one hit with a strikeout and no walks. Luke Hughes led Morley with two hits in four at-bats. Hawks got on the board in the top of the first after Calvin Butler doubled, Rodney Tennie hit a sacrifice fly, and Luke Houston walked, each scoring one run. Bass Cooper hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the first for UWA Magpies. Houston’s single extended Gosnells lead to 4-1 in the top of the third. Jack Burt stepped on the mound first for Gosnells, giving up three hits and one run over six innings with nine strikeouts and one walk. Fujiura Masato started the game for UWA Magpies, giving up five hits and six runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking five. Riley Hall threw three innings of scoreless ball for Gosnells in relief, allowing just one hit with four strikeouts and no walks. Gosnells tallied 10 hits in the game as Butler went 3-for-6 and Tennie and Houston had multiple hits, too. Hawks took nine walks with two apiece for Houston and Jarrod McKay, while the defense didn’t make any errors. Houston had the most chances in the field with 14. They turned one double play in the game. Victoria Park Belmont 4, Perth 2 Sean Garratt collected three hits in five at-bats as Victoria Park Belmont defeated Perth 4-2 on Sunday at Inglewood Oval. Garratt singled in the first, third, and seventh innings. Mizuki Akatsuka struck out 10 batters on the day. The starting pitcher also gave up four hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking one. A single by Jack Smalpage on a 0-2 count put Vic Park on the board in the top of the first. Brian (Tanner) Jessen-Dalton took the loss for Perth. The starter threw three innings, giving up one run on four hits, striking out four and walking two. Mathew Martin appeared in relief for Vic Park. Vic Park collected 13 hits in the game. Ryan Boyer went 4-for-4 and Joshua Greenham went 1-for-4 at the plate as the catcher led the team with two runs batted in. Garratt had multiple hits alongside Smalpage and stole two bases. Edgar Mundarain led Perth with three hits in four at-bats. Perth turned four double plays in the game. Rockingham Rams 11, Swan Districts Swans 3 Jesse Sequeira collected three hits in five at-bats as Rockingham Rams defeated Swan Districts Swans 11-3 on Sunday at Charlie Hodder Baseball Field. Sequeira had base hits in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings. A double by Darryl Artis on a 0-2 count put Rockingham on the board in the top of the third. Brock Molloy stepped on the bump first for Rockingham. The starter allowed two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking four. Cameron Liss opened the game for Swan Districts, allowing five hits and three runs over six innings. He struck out nine and walked three. Rockingham’s Vincent Tarantola pitched one inning of no-run ball, giving up one hit with no strikeouts or walks. Rams collected 11 hits in the game, including multiple hits for Jesse Neretlis and Artis and three of the team’s eight walks by Ashton Crouch. Rockingham turned one double play in the game. Michael De Gasperis drove the middle of the lineup, leading Swan Districts with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-2 on the day. De Gasperis, Ashton Hamilton, Cameron Phelts, Anthony Daniele, Josh Dowling, and Boston Foot had one hit apiece for Swan Districts while the defense turned one double play. Rockingham Rams 4, UWA Magpies 1 Rockingham Rams were victorious against UWA Magpies 4-1 on Wednesday at Empire Ballpark. A single by Matthew Reyes on a 3-0 count put UWA Magpies on the board in the top of the first. Rockingham took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after David Nichols singled, Jesse Neretlis walked, and UW Magpies dropped a third strike, each scoring one run. Lachlan Cahill earned the win for Rockingham. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out three and walking four. William Eastman took the loss for UWA Magpies. The reliever went one inning, allowing four runs on two hits, striking out one and walking four. Nick Alexiou led things off on the bump for UWA Magpies. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out five and walking two. Ashton Crouch, Nichols, Darryl Artis, and Neretlis each collected one hit for Rockingham Rams. Joshua Diggins, Nichols, and Neretlis each drove in one run for Rockingham while Jesse Sequeira took two of the team’s eight walks. Bass Cooper, Reyes, and Eastman each collected one hit for UWA Magpies. Reyes led UWA Magpies with one run batted in on a 1-for-3 day. Braves 7, South Perth Souths 1 The bottom of the lineup helped Braves capture a 7-1 victory over South Perth Souths on Sunday at Frankland Park. Geoff Kerr, Liam Collins, and Cody Parkinson combined for four of the team’s seven hits in the victory. They scored one run and drove in two. Braves opened the scoring in the first after Kevin Clark homered to left field, scoring two runs. They added one run in the second as Parkinson doubled for a 3-0 lead. Matt Kennelly singled on a 3-0 count to add another Braves run in the third. Daniel Schmidt earned the win with no hits or runs allowed over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Kennelly also appeared in relief. Todd Hatcher started the game for Braves, giving up no hits or runs with four strikeouts and a walk in three innings. South Perth starter Joseph Ranford gave up four hits and four runs in three innings with a strikeout and three walks. Kerr made the most of his chances at the plate. Braves number nine hitter led the team with two hits in three at-bats. Clark provided pop in the middle of the lineup with 2 RBIs for the third baseman. Braves had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game with two apiece for Josh Kennelly and Joel Beches. Collins and Jack Rigden stole two bases each. Simon Baumer, Adam Barbarich, and Cameron Landy each collected one hit for South Perth. Barbarich went 1-for-3 with an RBI while Jaxon Limpus stole two bases. The defense turned two double plays in the game. Braves have a bye going into the new year and South Perth hosts Carine on Sunday. Carine Cats 7, Gosnells Hawks 2 Carine Cats were triumphant over Gosnells Hawks 7-2 on Sunday at Carine Regional Open Space. Josh Molen opened the scoring on an RBI single in the second inning. Carine added one run on a wild pitch in the third, making it 2-0. Gosnells tied it up in the fourth thanks to an error and a walk by Rodney Tennie. Cats broke up the tie in the bottom of the fifth when Tarrant Reimers singled, scoring two runs. A double by Conor Lourey extended the lead to 5-2. Reimers earned the win for Carine. He allowed three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking three. Lourey stepped on the mound first for Carine. He gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking six. Gosnells starter Riley Hall allowed three hits and two runs over three and two-thirds innings with five strikeouts and six walks. John Carlstein pitched one inning of shutout ball for Carine in relief. The lefty gave up zero hits with no strikeouts or walks. Carine collected nine hits in the game, including two apiece for Reimers and Molen. Josh Davies, Reimers, Lourey, and Molen each drove in one run. Cats had patience at the plate with nine walks, including two apiece for Cas Silber and Cooper McDonnell. Silber and Reimers also stole multiple bases as Cats swiped nine overall. Lee Wisby, Robin Adamson, and Maclin Berry each collected two hits for Gosnells. Tennie had one run batted in and three of the team’s nine walks. Gosnells turned two double plays in the game. Carine heads to South Perth this Sunday while Gosnells play at UWA Magpies. Morley Eagles 8, Perth 3 Morley Eagles topped Perth 8-3 on Sunday after jumping out to an early lead on Reece Thompson’s 2-RBI double in the first. Sam Abbott singled to score a run an another run scored on a balk to start the game. Lachlan Waite threw first for Morley. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Jake White began the game for Perth, allowing three hits and four runs (three earned) over two innings with a strikeout and three walks. Brendan Sing pitched two and one-third innings of scoreless ball for Morley in relief, giving up no hits, just one walk and a strikeout. Abbott went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Morley in hits while Thompson and Abbott both had 2 RBIs. Morley was patient at the plate, taking 10 walks including two apiece for Luke Hughes, Thompson, and Aaron Bonomi. Hughes and Bonomi each stole multiple baes for Morley as the team had eight total. The defense was strong too, turning three double plays in the game. Edgar Mundarain, White, and Jalen McGee each collected one hit for Perth. Mundarain and Kyan Bertolini each drove in one run for Perth as the defense turned two double plays. Morley has a game at Wanneroo this Sunday and Perth hosts Victoria Park Belmont. Victoria Park Belmont 17, Rockingham Rams 1 Ryan Boyer went 3-for-5 as Victoria Park Belmont defeated Rockingham Rams 17-1 on Sunday at Forster Park. Boyer hit a home run to left field in the third inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings. Mizuki Akatsuka struck out 11 batters on the day. The starting pitcher also surrendered five hits and one run over six innings while walking none. Vic Park Belmont jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Josh Paull doubled, scoring one run, and Boyer homered to left field, scoring three runs. Matthew Martin singled, scoring two runs, and Paull drew a walk, scoring one run. Reds added five more runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Joshua Greenham homered to left field, scoring two runs, Martin doubled, scoring one run, Paull singled, scoring one run, and Jack Smalpage doubled, scoring one run. Five more runs came home in the bottom of the sixth when Eddie Satisky singled, Smalpage hit a sacrifice fly, Greenham doubled, and Tyler Paull singled to score two. Brock Molloy took the loss for Rockingham after throwing two and one-third innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking two. Reds collected 18 hits in the game. Boyer, Greenham, and Paull had three hits each while Satisky and Cody Van Der Graaf had two hits. Taiyo Kurosawa led the side with three walks as the Reds took eight total, plus four stolen bases. Darryl Artis set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Rockingham with two hits in three at-bats. Rams turned one double play in the game. Victoria Park Belmont has a game at Perth on Sunday while Rockingham heads to Swan Districts. Wanneroo Giants 24, UWA Magpies 7 Ben King drove in four runs on two hits to lead Wanneroo Giants past UWA Magpies 24-7 on Sunday at UWA Spots Park. King homered to left field, scoring three runs in the first inning. Wanneroo jumped out to an early lead after Jacob Santich doubled, scoring one run, King hit his three-run homer, and Nicholas Riley and Rob Sorensen both followed up with solo homers. Giants added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Courtney Jones singled, Riley walked, and Daniel Stephenson hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. King hit into a fielder’s choice, Riley walked, and Sorensen hit a sacrifice fly to extend the lead in the third. Wanneroo scored again with Daniel Bourke’s solo home run in the sixth. UWA Magpies scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Joris Van Ballegooy doubled, scoring one run, before Adam England and Michael Albertini both singled. Sorensen induced Jacob Davila to hit into a fielder’s choice but two runs scored. Wanneroo added 10 more runs in the top of the seventh on four hits. A wild pitch scored one run, Stephenson singled, scoring two runs, and Bourke homered to left field, scoring two more. Jones was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Riley drew a walk to score another. Sorensen also drew a walk and Stephenson came back up to single, scoring two more runs. Tom Bailey opened the game for Wanneroo, giving up one hit and zero runs over three innings with a strikeout and no walks. UWA Magpies starter Bradley Tate gave up five hits and six runs over two-thirds of an inning with no walks or strikeouts. Jacob Myer threw one inning of zero-run ball for Wanneroo in relief, giving up no hits or walks with two strikeouts. Wanneroo tallied 17 hits in the game. Santich led with four hits in six at-bats while Bourke had two home runs in the game. The outfielder went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Stephenson and Riley each drove in five runs for Wanneroo while Jones, King, and Bourke had multiple hits. Riley paced the team with four walks as Giants took 12 total. UWA Magpies accumulated 10 hits as Bass Cooper went 3-for-3 and Davila and Van Ballegooy each drove in two runs. Joshua Houston had two hits in four at-bats.
