Five WA players have been named to the Boral Team Australia roster ahead of an upcoming series against the Doosan Bears, the reigning KBO champions.
Three young standout players from Perth Heat have made the cut, including catcher Alex Hall, outfielder Ulrich Bojarksi and pitcher Mitch Neunborn. This trio was not on Team Australia’s Premier12 roster, but they will be part of the team alongside veterans Tim Kennelly and Daniel Schmidt. Kennelly will once again captain Boral Team Australia while Neunborn and Bojarski take advantage of their first selections to the national team. Robbie Glendinning was not considered for selection due to his commitments in the U.S. Baseball WA is seeking motivated people willing to serve as instructors in the new Baseball5 Sporting Schools program.
Baseball5 is a WBSC program and as of Term 1 2020 is now as an option for schools requesting Baseball WA to run sessions in school hours with their students. A full program lesson planner guides all instructors so learning what to do is easy and a very generous hourly payment is applicable. We have three schools already seeking to be part of the program so new facilitators are needed urgently. Anyone interested should contact Fiona Lambrick at [email protected]. Baseball WA is pleased to advise that Glen Tovey has been appointed Head Coach of the Australia West team that will compete at the Bronco Asia Pacific tournament to be held in China in June.
The Bronco team is a collaboration between Baseball WA and our good friends at Sixteen23, which is affiliated with Pony League in the Bronco age division. WSL Jets watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 21-3 loss to WSL Force on Thursday.
WSL Force scored on a single by Tamika Turner-Hames, an error, a walk by Olivia Mayo, a triple by Aimee Coghlan, a single by Kaila Borgomastro, an error, and a triple by Turner-Hames in the first inning. Baseball WA is pleased to announce that Darryl Moyle has been awarded Life Membership following the Baseball WA Annual General Meeting.
The AGM was held on Tuesday, 28 January 2020, when Moyle’s nomination for life membership was unanimously accepted by shareholders and the board of directors. Life Membership is an honour bestowed on members of the baseball community who have dedicated years of service to the growth and advancement of baseball in Western Australia. Moyle’s decades of involvement in the sport have been a massive difference to the baseball community, and Baseball WA looks forward to presenting him with his Life Membership Medal at the Baseball WA Awards Night on 31 March 2020. |
