The two-time MLB All-Star entered in a non-save situation in the eighth having not pitched since Sunday morning and struck out the side on 16 pitches as the White Sox went down to the Los Angeles Angels 9-3 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Hendriks hit the 100 strikeout milestone for the second time in his career with his second punchout of the day. The former Perth Heat pitcher recorded 124 in 2019 with the Oakland Athletics. Hendriks became the first White Sox reliever since Keith Foulke fanned 123 in 1999 to hit the milestone. He became the fifth reliever in franchise history to achieve the feat. Hendriks leads all Major League relievers with 101 strikeouts this season. He has issued just seven walks in 64 innings. The White Sox lead the American League Central by 11 games over the Cleveland Indians. |
