Baseball WA continues to work with clubs to make adjustments based on the COVID restrictions that will remain in place for junior games on Saturday. Please check your team fixtures for the latest updates and check with your club if required.
Most importantly, the following requirements will be applicable for all junior baseball activity this weekeend:
The post-lockdown transition period for Perth and Peel includes:
There are a couple of additional points in specific relation to juniors, being:
As was the case with seniors, the above requirements will require games to be moved around and in some cases, utilise different venues not otherwise being used for juniors. Where needed and possible, games may be moved out of the traditional timeslot, subject to agreement of both teams. Please note the change of game times is NOT automatic - both teams need to agree the available game times are acceptable. Baseball WA kindly asks parents and players to use the competition management system/GameChanger to keep up to date with changes to venues and times. When changes have been made and agreed upon by all parties, please email Caroline at [email protected] and have her make the required changes. Baseball WA will provide any further updates accordingly. We wish everyone has a safe weekend of baseball! For more details on the COVID situation, please view the WA State Government restrictions. After Friday’s update regarding baseball activity this weekend, Baseball WA is pleased to share an updated schedule for senior baseball on Sunday.
Thank you to club presidents and volunteers for their cooperation and assistance to make these changes possible and ensure we can return to safe senior baseball games. We recognise there have been many changes and challenges this week, and we appreciate our clubs and their willingness to shift venues/games and help other teams out as needed. Please check out the updated fixtures HERE and contact your club with any questions about the schedule. Please click HERE for the competitions portal. As a reminder, the following restrictions apply to all senior games on Sunday, and potentially future games in the coming weeks subject to WA State Government advice:
We will continue to provide updates as required, and we look forward to this weekend as we navigate the new COVID restrictions. Please read our earlier update HERE. As an update following this week’s lockdown in the Perth, Peel, and the South West regions, Baseball WA confirms the resumption of community sport in time for limited baseball activity across this weekend, 5-7 February 2021.
With no new community COVID-19 cases aside from the one detected in a hotel quarantine worker on Sunday 31 January, WA is in the position to safely ease restrictions. Full details of the most recent update from WA Premier Mark McGowan are available HERE. While this clarity on the easing of restrictions post-lockdown is welcome news, due to the large number of players, teams, clubs, and diamonds required for junior baseball on Saturdays, the decision is to cancel all junior games scheduled for Saturday 6 February. BWA will work with clubs regarding fixtures and potential operations for the following week, Saturday 13 February. Baseball WA continues to work with club presidents on senior games scheduled for Sunday 7 February, which may continue under the current WA State Government restrictions. Please stand by as Baseball WA works with clubs on an updated senior schedule for this weekend, including times and locations. The following restrictions apply to all senior games on Sunday, and potentially future games in the coming weeks subject to WA State Government advice:
Please note that times, locations, and home/away teams may vary from the original fixture as we work to activate multiple venues across multiple clubs. Further communication will be provided by Baseball WA and clubs once the schedule is confirmed. The post-lockdown transition period for Perth and Peel includes:
The return of baseball activity this weekend comes as Baseball WA works with clubs and stakeholders to ensure all the proper safety protocols are followed for our return to game play. This includes no other people at clubs other than the required players, coaches, officials, committee members, parents, and guardians. No functions or special events may take place at this time, and clubrooms cannot be accessed except for using the bathroom facilities. “Thank you to our clubs and members for their continued support and understanding,” Baseball WA CEO Lachlan Dale said. “We have been very lucky so far in WA, and although this lockdown has presented challenges, our community efforts were worth it so now so we can get back to our beloved game. We look forward to exciting summer baseball activity post-lockdown.” For more information, please visit the official WA Government website HERE. As everyone is aware, the Western Australian State Government has introduced a five-day lockdown until Friday, 5 February 2021. Baseball has an important role in supporting physical activity and community connectiveness while also ensuring the safety and wellbeing of its clubs, volunteers, members and staff.
We will keep you as up to date as much as possible with the latest information but as we saw in the first round of restrictions in early/mid 2020, we need to accept the speed at which external decisions are made, the time available to consider the implications and then develop appropriate communications. Please click HERE for details on the Stay at Home and Closure (Perth, Peel and the South West Regions) Directions. We know you and your members/participants will have many questions and it's important the answers are based on the right information. All general information should be sourced from www.wa.gov.au and all enquiries to our sport and recreation service area should be directed to [email protected]. This inbox will be monitored regularly and responded to as quickly as possible. At this stage there is no other information on what restrictions will be in place from 6pm on Friday. We will let you know as soon as we know more. Following the announcement made by Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan this afternoon, Baseball WA confirms the cancellation of all baseball games from 3:00 PM on Sunday, 31 January 2021 onward. All baseball activity for the next five days has been cancelled to comply with the lockdown of the Perth metropolitan area and the Peel and South West regions, which is set to expire at 6:00 PM on Friday, 5 February 2021.
According to the WA Government, these measures are based on health advice and have been implemented due to a fast evolving situation in Western Australia with the positive COVID-19 case detected in a hotel quarantine worker. The WA Government has declared a State of Emergency for Western Australia. Baseball WA is working with clubs and stakeholders to ensure all the proper safety measures and procedures are put in place and followed throughout this lockdown period as well as during our return to play once the lockdown has lifted. “Thank you to our clubs and members for their understanding and patience during this rapidly-evolving situation,” Baseball WA CEO Lachlan Dale said. “This is an important reminder that this virus is still a serious concern and we must remain vigilant. Let’s all do our part this week so we can look forward to getting back on the field soon.” For more information, please visit the official WA Government website HERE. |
