Nominations for 2024 have closed
West Coast Rays is Baseball WA’s franchise in the Down Under Winter Classic (DUWC).
The 2024 event will take place on the Gold Coast QLD – 7th to 12th July.
Players shall nominate through a centralised BWA portal and only nominated players can be selected.
In all cases, priority selection will be given to:
- Players who tried out for their charter and were not selected
- Players who are too old for Senior League but still age eligible for 18U
- Players from charters who are not fielding a team in the player’s age division
Players who played at any of the four Australian National tournaments in 2023 (ie LL Div1, IL, JL, SL) will only be selected if there are vacant positions available.
Full detailed communication on costing and logistics will be provided by the General Managers only to those people who have nominated.

12U – 01 May 2011 – 30 April 2013
14U – 01 May 2009 – 30 April 2011
16U – 01 May 2007 – 30 April 2009
18U – 01 May 2005 – 30 April 2007
Please note that with no 12U General Manager, players may nominate for the 14U division and will be included in a team if space allows.
Players will pay a tournament levy of $1,500 directly to Down Under Winter Classic. This is not a Baseball WA fee – full information on what this covers is available HERE.
A levy paid to Baseball WA will cover flights, accommodation, ground transport, food allowance and sundries for all players and team personnel. Players will be invoiced for this amount. PLEASE NOTE: each General Manager is responsible for determining these details and so the costs and details between age divisions may vary. For reference the 2023 amount was $3,200. General Managers will advise all nominated players details of the 2024 amount and details once firmed up.
