The 2023/24 Harcher State League season continued with seven thrilling games featuring a mix of back-and-forth offensive battles and solid pitching duels. Swan Districts, Vic Park Belmont, Perth, Wanneroo, South Perth, and Gosnells all picked up wins this weekend.

Vic Park Belmont 2, Morley Eagles 1
Both teams were strong on the hill on Friday as Vic Park Belmont eventually defeated Morley Eagles 2-1. Mathew Martin started the game for the Reds and recorded 19 outs.
Vic Park opened the scoring in the second after Curtis Bacon grounded out, scoring a run. Morley’s Jesse Williams hit a sacrifice fly to tie it up in the bottom half.
A groundout by Sean Garratt gave the Reds a 2-1 lead in the top of the third.
Martin earned the win for Vic Park, giving up six hits and one run over six and one-third innings, striking out five and walking one. Josh Paull pitched in relief.
Lachlan Waite took the loss for Morley, throwing five innings with two runs (zero earned), three hits, one walk, and four strikeouts.
Jayden Mitchell led Vic Park with two hits in three at-bats. Bacon and Garratt each drove in a run.
Ulrich Bojarski, Luke Hughes, Matt Dixon, Williams, Adrian Blount, Alex Hall, and Reece Thompson each collected one hit for Morley.
Williams went 1-for-3 at the plate as they led the team with one run batted in. Morley turned one double play in the game.
Swan Districts Swans 9, Gosnells Hawks 4
Swan Districts Swans were victorious against Gosnells Hawks 9-4 on Friday at Empire Ballpark.
The Swans got on the board in the top of the first after Andrew Cromwell hit a sacrifice fly and Anthony Daniele singled, each scoring a run. Daniele hit another RBI single in the third to make it 3-0.
Swan Districts kept up the pressure, scoring five runs on two hits in the top of the fourth. The runs came as Cameron Phelts hit a sacrifice fly, Cromwell singled, and Maverick Hamilton, Daniel Johnston, and Brody Clarkson all walked.
Dillian Clarkson started the game for Swan Districts. The left-handed pitcher allowed 11 hits and four runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking two.
Louis Scaramella began the game for Gosnells. The right-handed pitcher gave up seven hits and seven runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
Boston Foot threw one and one-third innings of shutout ball for Swan Districts Swans in relief with no hits or walks.
Swan Districts tallied nine hits in the game, including two apiece for Daniele and Phelts, who also stole two bases. Cromwell drove the middle of the lineup with a team-high three RBI.
Gosnells piled up 11 hits in the game. Robin Adamson went 3-for-3 and Scaramella went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
The Hawks were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Jamie White had the most chances with five.
South Perth Souths 2, Carine Cats 0
South Perth Souths defeated Carine Cats 2-0 on Sunday at Carine Regional Open Space as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.
Both teams were strong on the mound. South Perth pitchers struck out 15 and Carine sat down 13.
South Perth opened the scoring in the top of the fourth when Adam Barbarich singled. They scored two runs in the frame, which turned out to be all they needed for the game.
Jake Bowey led things off on the mound for South Perth, giving up no hits or runs in six innings with nine strikeouts and a walk.
Conor Lourey started for Carine, allowing three hits and two runs in seven innings with 10 strikeouts and two walks.
Simon Baumer pitched three innings of no-run ball in relief for South Perth, with no hits, two walks and six strikeouts.
Jaxon Limpus and Cameron Landy each collected two hits for South Perth. Landy went 2-for-4 at the plate as the infielder led the team with one run batted in.
Carine visits Perth this Friday and South Perth plays a doubleheader at Swan Districts Swans on Sunday.
Gosnells Hawks 6, UWA Magpies 2
The bottom of the lineup helped Gosnells Hawks capture a 6-2 victory over UWA Magpies on Sunday at UWA Sports Park. Riley Hall, Jarrod McKay, and David Burgess combined for four of the team’s eight hits in the victory. They scored four runs and drove in three.
UWA Magpies opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run.
Gosnells Hawks took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third on singles by McKay and Louis Scaramella.
Jack Burt earned the win for Gosnells, giving up two hits and one run (zero earned) over eight innings, striking out seven with no walks.
Kodai Hamaya took the loss for UWA Magpies. The starting pitcher went seven innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out nine and walking one. Maclin Berry appeared in relief for Gosnells.
Robin Adamson and McKay each collected two hits for the Hawks, with McKay leading the way on two RBI from the number nine spot in the lineup. The second baseman went 2-for-4 on the day.
The Hawks’ defense was solid, turning one double play in the game.
Matthew Reyes, Jake Willson, Adam England, and Oki Takishima each collected one hit for UWA Magpies. England went 1-for-4 at the plate as the infielder led the team with one run batted in.
Next up for Gosnells is a game at Vic Park Belmont on Sunday, while UWA Magpies take on Morley in a doubleheader.
Perth 13, Vic Park Belmont Reds 12
Jesse Barron collected four hits in five at-bats as Perth defeated Vic Park Belmont 13-12 on Sunday at Forster Park. Barron picked up four base hits across the fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth innings.
Perth broke through when it was tied at 12 in the top of the tenth. Barron drew a walk, scoring one run.
Vic Park Belmont opened the scoring on a single by Edwin Satisky in the fourth.
Perth flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring eight runs on five hits to take an 8-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Ronnie Sweeny to drive in two.
Sean Garratt homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Reds. They added two more in the seventh on another homer, this time off the bat of Cody Van Der Graaf.
Vic Park Belmont scored seven runs on four hits for a 12-11 lead in the bottom of the eighth. A triple by Jack Smalpage drove in two.
Austin Moyle doubled, which helped Perth tie the game at 12 in the top of the ninth.
Tanner Jessen-Dalton opened the game for Perth, giving up just two hits and one run over five innings with a walk and eight strikeouts. Kaine Newham, Jordano Vivona, and Jake White each appeared in relief.
Curtis Bacon started on the hill for Vic Park Belmont. He gave up six hits and six runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking none.
Perth collected 13 hits in the game. Finlay Duncan led the team with four runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The left fielder went 1-for-5 on the day. White collected two hits for Perth in five at-bats, too. The defense had some good moments, turning two double plays.
Vic Park Belmont had 12 hits, including three apiece for Satisky and Garratt. Satisky, Van Der Graaf, Smalpage, and Garratt had two RBIs apiece. Ryan Boyer went 2-for-5 and Taiyo Kurosawa led with three of the team’s seven walks. They also turned one double play in the game.
Perth visits Carine on Friday and Braves on Sunday while Vic Park hosts Gosnells.
Swan Districts Swans 6, Rockingham Rams 3
Cameron Liss was dominant on the mound, striking out 11 in Swan Districts’ 6-3 victory over Rockingham on Sunday at Hourglass Reserve. Liss gave up three hits and one run over five innings while walking four.
The Swans struck first when Riley Ozanne drew a walk to score a run in the second. They added five more on six hits in the top of the fifth. The runs came as Michael De Gasperis singled, Daniel Johnston grounded out, and Boston Foot and Ozanne singled. An error scored one more.
Brock Molloy stepped on the bump first for Rockingham. He gave up nine hits and six runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking two.
Swan Districts recorded 12 hits in the game, with three apiece for Ozanne and De Gasperis. Ozanne seized opportunities, leading the side with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The second baseman went 3-for-3 on the day.
The Swans didn’t commit a single error in the field as Dan Carter had the most chances with 17.
Rockingham leadoff hitter Joshua Diggins had two hits in four at-bats. The Rams worked the count all day, collecting seven walks throughout the game.
Swan Districts host a doubleheader vs. South Perth on Sunday and Rockingham plays Wanneroo on Saturday.
Wanneroo Giants 8, Morley Eagles 1
Wanneroo Giants took care of business 8-1 against Morley Eagles on Sunday at Crimea Park.
Morley opened the scoring in the first after Luke Hughes hit an RBI single.
Wanneroo took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth thanks to singles by Courtney Jones and Dawson Summers.
Frazer Brice stepped on the mound first for Wanneroo. The righty gave up four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one. Jackson Riley and Rob Sorenson pitched in relief.
Adam Millson led things off on the hill for Morley. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out two and walking two.
The Giants tallied nine hits in the game, including two apiece for Jones, Summers, and Drake Angeron. Summers, the number seven hitter, led the way with three runs batted in from a 2-for-4 performance.
Wanneroo worked the count all day, tallying six walks. The Giants were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Jones had the most chances with 11.
Hughes, Jesse Williams, Alex Hall, and Ben Crook each collected one hit for Morley. Hughes went 1-for-4 at the plate as the cleanup hitter led the team with one run batted in.
Morley didn’t make any errors in the field either, with Cody Holt taking a team-high nine chances.
Wanneroo heads to Rockingham on Saturday while Morley faces UWA Magpies in a doubleheader on Sunday.
