Harcher State League continued over the weekend with hard-fought wins for Wanneroo, Gosnells, South Perth, Rockingham, Perth, Braves, Victoria Park Belmont, and Swan Districts. Wanneroo, Braves, Morley, Perth, and Vic Park Belmont remain in the top five after ten weeks of play.

Wanneroo Giants 7, Braves 1
Wanneroo Giants scored four runs in the seventh inning as they defeated Braves 7-1 on Friday at Empire Ballpark.
An error scored the first run of the seventh, followed by a Dawson Summers’ groundout and singles by Nicholas Riley and Daniel Stephenson, all scoring one run.
Wanneroo first got on the board in the third when Jacob Santich drew a bases-loaded walk.
Joel Beches singled, helping Braves tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.
An error gave Wanneroo a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth.
Wanneroo starter Tom Bailey gave up four hits and one run over five innings, striking out five with no walks.
Campbell Froude led things off on the mound for Braves, giving up one hit and three runs (one earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking five.
Frazer Brice threw two innings of no-run ball for Wanneroo in relief, allowing one hit with one strikeout and zero walks.
Ethan Cooper, Stephenson, Riley, and Drake Angeron each collected one hit for Wanneroo. Chris King, Ben King, Stephenson, Santich, Summers, and Riley drove in one run each.
Riley had two of the team’s four stolen bases as Wanneroo worked the count all day, tallying seven walks. The defense turned one double play in an error-free game as Summers had the most chances in the field with seven.
Beches led Braves with a 2-for-3 game.
Gosnells Hawks 7, South Perth Souths 4
Gosnells Hawks bested South Perth Souths 7-4 on Sunday at Collins Oval. South Perth was first on the board with a steal of home in the opening inning.
Gosnells scored on a wild pitch, tying the game at one in the top of the second. They broke up the tie in the third when Jack Burt doubled, scoring a run. Calvin Butler’s single extended the lead to 4-1.
South Perth tied the game in the bottom of the third on an error, a sacrifice fly by Cameron Landy, and a groundout by Jai Hewitt.
Rodney Tennie grounded out to give Gosnells a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth.
Burt stepped on the bump first for Gosnells. He gave up four hits and four runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking five.
Hewitt led things off on the hill for South Perth, allowing five hits and five runs over four innings with four strikeouts and four walks.
Riley Hall threw two innings of scoreless ball for Gosnells. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking one.
Lee Wisby and Butler each collected two hits for Gosnells. Robin Adamson, Maclin Berry, Butler, and Burt each drove in one run while Louis Scaramella took three of the team’s seven walks and Berry had three of six stolen bases.
Gosnells turned two double plays in the game.
Simon Baumer, Caleb Scorer, Hewitt, and Jaxon Limpus each collected one hit for South Perth. Landy led the team with one run batted in, while overall the Souths practiced patience at the plate with six walks in total. Scorer and Limpus took two walks each and the latter had three of the team’s four stolen bases.
South Perth Souths 13, Gosnells Hawks 12
Bats were blistered as South Perth Souths took down Gosnells Hawks 13-12 on Sunday at Collins Oval. South Perth collected 15 hits, while Gosnells had nine.
South Perth came back to win despite trailing 8-0 in the second.
Gosnells got on the board first when Robin Adamson homered to left field, scoring three runs. Hawks added five runs on two hits in the top of the second. Adamson singled to score two before Calvin Butler sent a three-run homer over the fence in left field.
South Perth flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring nine runs on six hits to take a 13-12 lead. The biggest blow was a double by Adam Barbarich that drove in three.
Caleb Scorer earned the win for South Perth. The reliever didn’t give up any hits or runs in one-third of an inning, only walking one.
Caleb Goodwin stepped on the bump first for South Perth. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and eight runs over three innings, striking out two and walking five.
Jamie White led things off on the bump for Gosnells. The southpaw allowed eight hits and three runs over three innings, striking out one and walking none.
Brett Walters threw one inning of shutout ball for South Perth in relief, giving up one hit, striking out one and walking none.
South Perth collected 15 hits in the game with two hits apiece for Goodwin, Noah Green, Barbarich, Walters, Jaxon Limpus, Cameron Landy, and Simon Baumer. Barbarich provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading South Perth with three runs batted in as the outfielder went 2-for-4 on the day.
Gosnells tallied nine hits with Butler going 3-for-5 and Adamson going 2-for-5 with five runs batted in. Rodney Tennie paced Gosnells with three of the team’s 11 walks.
South Perth plays Braves next while Gosnells heads to Carine this Sunday.
Rockingham Rams 7, Morley Eagles 4
The bottom of the lineup helped Rockingham capture a 7-4 victory over Morley Eagles on Sunday at Crimea Park. Jax Williams, Korbyn Wilson, and Jesse Neretlis combined for six of the team’s 10 hits, scoring two runs and driving in three.
Rockingham jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning after Jesse Sequeira singled, scoring one run, Tomas Swinson was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Williams singled, scoring one run, and Wilson doubled, scoring two more.
Brock Molloy started the game for Rockingham, giving up five hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking six. Wilson appeared in relief.
Lachlan Waite started on the hill for Morley, allowing 10 hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out two and walking one.
Rockingham collected 10 hits in the game, including two apiece for Williams, Wilson, and Neretlis. Wilson, the number nine hitter, led the way with two runs batted in on a 2-for-3 day.
Reece Thompson and Aaron Bonomi were a force together in the lineup, each collecting three hits for Morley while hitting back-to-back. Thompson and George Calverley each drove in two runs while Zac McMillin took two of the team’s seven walks.
Morley didn’t commit a single error in the field as Sam Abbott had the most chances with 10.
Rockingham Rams 4, Morley Eagles 2
Rockingham won the second game of the doubleheader with a 4-2 final result over Morley. Rams opened the scoring in the first on an error before adding another run in the third as David Nichols hit an RBI single.
Reece Thompson homered to left field as Morley tied the game at two in the bottom of the third.
A fielder’s choice by Jesse Sequeira gave Rockingham a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth.
Rockingham starter Vincent Tarantola allowed eight hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking none.
Morley starter Adam Millson gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking one.
Joshua Diggins, Vinnie Tarantola, Tomas Swinson, Nichols, Sequeira, Korbyn Wilson, and Darryl Artis each collected one hit for Rockingham. Nichols, Sequeira, and Wilson each drove in a run while the defense turned one double play in the game.
Cody Holt, Thompson, and Cody Nicholas each collected two hits for Morley. Thompson went 2-for-4 at the plate as they led the team with two runs batted in. Morley turned one double play in the game.
Rockingham will travel to Vic Park Belmont for their next game on Sunday. Moley has an away game at Perth.
Perth 4, Wanneroo Giants 1
Perth beat Wanneroo Giants 4-1 on Sunday at Mateljan Park. Wanneroo opened the scoring in the fourth on an RBI single by Courtney Jones.
Perth took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth thanks to singles by Jake White and Josh McGee.
White started on the mound for Perth. The righty gave up three hits and one run over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one.
Jacob Myer opened the game for Wanneroo, giving up five hits and three runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking two.
Brian (Tanner) Jessen-Dalton tossed three innings of zero-run ball for Perth. The reliever allowed one hit and a walk with six strikeouts.
Perth collected nine hits in the game. Devon Ramirez-Beaver went 3-for-5 at the plate while White batted in two runs from the middle of the lineup. McGee collected two hits for Perth in five at-bats and had the most fielding plays with 13.
Jones led Wanneroo with two hits in three at-bats as the defense turned one double play.
Perth welcomes Morley on Sunday for their next game and Wanneroo heads to UWA Magpies.
Braves 14, Carine Cats 3
James Smibert hit two home runs and drove in five as Braves defeated Carine Cats 14-3 on Sunday at Carine Regional Open Space. Smibert homered in the fourth and fifth innings.
A home run to center field by Kevin Clark put Braves on the board in the top of the first.
Cas Silber doubled on an 0-2 count, which helped Carine tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.
Braves flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 7-2 lead. Smibert’s three-run homer was the biggest blow.
Five more Braves crossed the plate in the fifth, extending the lead to 12-2. Cody Parkinson singled, scoring two runs, Tarrant Reimers induced Lochlann Varian to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Smibert homered to center field, scoring two runs.
Carine scored one run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run to center field by Silber.
Matt Kennelly led things off on the bump for Braves. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking one.
Reimers opened the game for Carine, giving up 12 hits and 12 runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two.
Tucker Smith and Daniel Schmidt each came on in relief for Braves to shut down Carine.
Braves tallied 16 hits in the game, with three apiece for Geoff Kerr and Joel Beches. Clark, Varian, and Parkinson had two hits each.
Silber went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Carine in hits while the Cats defense turned one double play in the game.
Braves play at home on Sunday against South Perth and Carine hosts Gosnells.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 1, Swan Districts Swans 0
Starter Mizuki Akatsuka struck out 11 batters, leading Victoria Park Belmont past Swan Districts Swans 1-0 in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader. Akatsuka gave up one hit and zero runs or walks over seven innings.
Both teams were strong on the hill with 11 strikeouts each. Vic Park Belmont got on board in the fourth with Ryan Boyer’s solo home run to center field.
Cameron Liss took the loss for Swan Districts, throwing six innings with one run on five hits. He struck out 11 and walked none.
Reds number seven hitter Joshua Greenham led the team with two hits in two at-bats. Third baseman Boyer batted in the lone run of the game.
Michael De Gasperis led Swan Districts with one hit in three at-bats. The defense was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error as Dan Carter made the most plays with 11.
Swan Districts Swans 9, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 3
Brody Clarkson hit two home runs and dove in three as Swan Districts Swans defeated Victoria Park Belmont 9-3 on Sunday at Forster Park. Clarkson homered in the seventh and eighth innings.
Swan Districts Swans scored six runs in the eighth inning on the way to victory. Anthony Daniele singled, scoring two runs, Boston Foot singled, scoring two runs, and Clarkson homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Swans opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles, including an RBI base hit by Cameron Phelts.
Sean Garratt homered to left field, helping Vic Park Belmont tie the game at two in the bottom of the first.
A single by Taiyo Kurosawa gave Reds a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second.
Swans batter Clarkson homered to center field to tie the game at three in the top of the seventh.
Dillian Clarkson led things off on the mound for Swan Districts. The southpaw allowed nine hits and three runs over six innings, striking out one and walking two.
Curtis Bacon started on the mound for Vic Park, giving up seven hits and three runs in seven innings with three strikeouts and a walk.
Foot tossed two innings of no-run ball for Swans in relief. He didn’t give up any hits, just one walk with two strikeouts.
Swan Districts piled up 11 hits in the game as Phelts went 3-for-4. The defense turned two double plays in an error-free game as Clarkson had the most fielding chances with six.
Reds piled up nine hits in the game. Number eight hitter Darcy Clements went 2-for-3 while Garratt batted in two runs. The side turned one double play in the game.
Swans have the week off before hosting Rockingham on Sunday 17 December while Vic Park Belmont face the Rams this coming weekend.
