“Darryl’s contribution to baseball in WA is remarkable. He was outstanding as a player and coach at the club and Claxton Shield levels. His teams were always in the hunt for a premiership. Good players wanted to play for Darryl and Darryl brought out the best in them. He led by example as an excellent hitter and skilled fielder who was able to play any position. He aggressively hit for both average and power against all levels of pitching. He, and his teams, were always the toughest of opponents.”
Bob Ossey – Baseball Australia Hall of Fame Inductee 2017

“An excellent hitter who would hit any pitch, in any location for power. Darryl had the ability to read the game and steal bases at the right time. As an outfielder, Darryl could read the ball off the bat better than most. Darryl only had one thing in mind when playing, WIN.”
