The first five weeks of the 2024/25 Harcher State League season are done and dusted, with Wanneroo, Braves, Rockingham, and Morley leading the standings.

Rockingham Rams 5, UWA Magpies 4
Rockingham Rams took Friday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over UWA Magpies at Empire Ballpark, Thornlie.
The game was tied at four in the bottom of the sixth when Henry Kellen induced Lachlan Cahill to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
UWA Magpies opened the scoring in the second after Joshua Houston singled, scoring one run. Rockingham jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Ashton Crouch hit into a fielder’s choice, Cahill singled to center field, Joshua Diggins grounded out, and Jesse Sequeira hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
UWA Magpies tied the game in the top of the sixth thanks to a single by Madoka Honjo, a walk by Kellen, and a wild pitch.
Vinnie Tarantola earned the win for Rockingham. The starter allowed six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out six and walking five.
Nick Alexiou took the loss for UWA Magpies. The hurler went four and one-third innings, surrendering four runs on two hits, striking out six and walking three.
Cahill went 1-for-2 at the plate and led Rams with two runs batted in, while David Nichols also had a hit. The defense turned one double play in the game and didn’t commit a single error. Chris Proctor had the most chances with eight.
Kellen, Houston, and Honjo each drove in one run for UWA Magpies. Honjo led the team with three hits in three at-bats.
Swan Districts Swans 1, Carine Cats 1
Swan Districts and Carine Cats tied 1-1 on Sunday at Carine Open Space. Cats opened the scoring in the first after Marcus Strother doubled to bring home a run.
Taj Egan grounded into a fielder’s choice, which helped Swan Districts tie the game at one in the top of the seventh.
Nico Antoine stepped on the hill first for Carine. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking none.
Dillian Clarkson opened the game for Swan Districts. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and one run over seven innings, striking out four and walking three.
Strother led Carine with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-4 on the day while Carlos Salas also had two hits.
Egan led Swan Districts with one run batted in and Brody Clarkson had two hits in two at-bats.
Wanneroo Giants 1, South Perth Souths 0
Both teams were strong on the bump on Sunday, but Wanneroo Giants defeated South Perth 1-0. Zane Morrison started the game for Wanneroo and recorded 21 outs.
Giants were first to get on the board in the third when Ethan Cooper hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Morrison earned the win for Wanneroo. The hurler allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking none.
Jai Hewitt took the loss for South Perth. The starter went four innings, allowing one run (zero earned) on two hits, striking out four and walking one.
Cooper led Wanneroo with one run batted in. Byron Armstrong, Courtney Jones, and Henry Schineller each collected one hit. Meanwhile, the defense didn’t commit any errors as Schineller had the most chances in the field with 10.
David John led South Perth with one hit in two at-bats.
Morley Eagles 12, Gosnells Hawks 7
Morley Eagles beat Gosnells Hawks 12-7 on Sunday at Tom Bateman Reserve, Thornlie. Morley got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jess Williams homered to center field, and George Calverley singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Matt Dixon homered to right field, scoring two runs in the top of the second for Eagles. Hawks scored one run in the bottom of the ninth on a solo home run to right field by Robin Adamson.
Raleigh Pelkonen earned the win for Morley. The pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking two.
Brendan Sing pitched three and one-third innings in relief for Morley. The hurler surrendered one hit and one run while, striking out one and walking one.
Yuki Narita took the loss for Gosnells. The hurler went three innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking two.
Kieren Hall stepped on the hill first for Morley. The starter gave up three hits and three runs over two innings, striking out three and walking three.
Morley accumulated 11 hits in the game as Calverley led with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-5 on the day. Joshua Silvi, Dixon, and Williams also collected multiple hits while Cameron Bahr took three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 12 walks for the game and eight stolen bases in the game, including multiple for Silvi and Calverley.
Adamson went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Gosnells in hits. Taj Varga and Sam Freedman each drove in two runs while Tim Leitch took three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting 12 walks for the game.
Swan Districts Swans 3, Carine Cats 2
Both teams were strong on the mound on Sunday, but Swan Districts held on to defeat Carine Cats 3-2. Joshua Harvey started the game for Swans and recorded 15 outs.
Swan Districts didn’t take the lead until later in the game. It was tied at two in the top of the ninth when Michael De Gasperis singled, scoring one run.
Earlier, Swans got on board in the third inning after Anthony Daniele singled, scoring one run. Cooper McDonnell grounded out, which helped Carine tie it up at one in the bottom half.
A single by Bailey Moorfield gave Cats a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Riley Ozanne singled down the right field line as Swans made it a 2-2 ballgame in the top of the sixth.
Harvey started the game for Swan Districts. The hurler surrendered five hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking none.
Tim Holmes led things off on the bump for Carine. The hurler allowed seven hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking two.
Boston Foot tossed four innings of scoreless ball for Swan Districts in relief. The pitcher allowed one hit, striking out six and walking two.
Swans collected nine hits in the game, including two apiece for Daniele, Landen Barns, and De Gasperis. Daniele, Ozanne, and De Gasperis each drove in one run while the defense turned one double play in the game.
Jordan Power and Marcus Strother were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Carine. McDonnell and Moorfield each drove in one run and the Cats stole four bases in the game, plus a double play on defense.
Wanneroo Giants 4, South Perth Souths 0
Wanneroo Giants beat South Perth 4-0 on Sunday at Mateljan Park. Wanneroo got on board in the first after a wild pitch scored one run.
Giants added one run in the third as Henry Schineller singled to left field, making the score 2-0.
Tom Bailey earned the win for Wanneroo. The hurler allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one.
Joseph Ranford took the loss for South Perth. The pitcher went three innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on two hits, striking out three and walking three.
Callum Schipp led things off on the hill for Wanneroo. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Frazer Brice earned the save.
Cooper Barber, Wanneroo’s number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats. They had strong eyes at the plate, totaling eight walks for the game with two apiece for Byron Armstrong, Daniel Stephenson, and Ethan Cooper.
Wanneroo turned one double play in the game and didn’t commit a single error in the field. Schineller had the most fielding chances with 10.
Jai Hewitt and Tysaac Noland each collected one hit for South Perth.
Rockingham Rams 6, UWA Magpies 2
Chris Proctor collected three hits in five at-bats as Rockingham Rams defeated UWA Magpies 6-2 on Sunday. Proctor singled in the first and third innings and hit a solo home run to center field in the fifth.
Rams scored in the first after Ellis Deakin singled, bringing home a run. Proctor’s solo home run added to their advantage.
Kodai Kombara stepped on the bump first for Rockingham. The hurler gave up two hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking four. Proctor and Sam Sheppard both appeared in relief
Kodai Hamaya began the game for UWA Magpies. The pitcher surrendered eight hits and four runs over five innings, striking out five and walking two.
Rockingham tallied 12 hits in the game as Joshua Diggins led with two runs batted in. The shortstop went 1-for-4 on the day while Jesse Sequeira collected two hits in four at-bats. Rams had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks total with two apiece for Jacques Langford and David Nichols.
Rams turned one double play and didn’t commit a single error in the field. Proctor had the most fielding chances with 10.
Riley Spring drove the middle of the lineup, leading UWA Magpies with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Leadoff hitter Joris Van Ballegooy led with three hits in five at-bats. The defense turned a double play, too.
Braves 4, Perth 1
The bottom of the lineup helped Braves capture a 4-1 victory over Perth on Sunday as Daniel Choi, Lochlann Varian, and Josh Kennelly combined for six of the team’s 10 hits, driving in three runs.
Braves got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Kennelly grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Choi grounded out, each scoring one run. Perth scored one run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run to left field by Spencer Sarringar on a full count.
Tucker Smith earned the win for Braves. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Riley Oliphant took the loss for Perth. The pitcher went three innings, surrendering three runs on five hits, striking out two and walking two.
Shaun Atamanchuk tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Braves in relief. The pitcher gave up one hit, striking out one and walking one.
Braves accumulated 10 hits in the game. Number seven hitter Kennelly had three hits in four at-bats. Choi, Varian, and Kennelly each drove in one run while Kevin Clark collected two hits in four at-bats.
Braves turned one double play in the game. Austin Moyle and Sarringar were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Perth while hitting back-to-back. Sarringar led with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-4 on the day.
