Braves, Morley, Wanneroo, and Perth lead the way in Harcher State League standings after the first seven weeks of the 2024/25 season, but there is lots more baseball action to come!

Wanneroo Giants 5, Carine Cats 0
Wanneroo Giants were victorious against Carine Cats 5-0 on Tuesday at Empire Ballpark, Thornlie.
Wanneroo got on the board in the first after Cooper Barber singled, scoring one run.
Zane Morrison led things off on the mound for Wanneroo. The hurler allowed six hits and zero runs over five and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Nico Antoine stepped on the mound first for Carine. The pitcher surrendered five hits and five runs over four and one-third innings, striking out six and walking five.
Callum Schipp tossed one and two-thirds innings of scoreless ball for Wanneroo in relief. The righty surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking two.
Barber and Henry Schineller both drove in two runs for Wanneroo. Daniel Stephenson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Giants in hits.
Cooper McDonnell went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Carine in hits while the defense turned one double play in the game.
Wanneroo Giants 17, UWA Magpies 4
Courtney Jones collected three hits in five at-bats, as Wanneroo Giants defeated UWA Magpies 17-4 on Sunday at McGillivray Oval, Mt Claremont. Jones singled in the second and fourth innings and hit a solo home run to center field in the fifth.
UWA Magpies were first to get on the board in the opening frame when Tyler Hill hit a solo home run to left field.
Wanneroo took the lead in the top of the second. Quinn Fatai singled, scoring two runs, to give Giants the leg up, 2-1.
In the bottom of the third inning, UWA Magpies went back into the lead after Riley Spring grounded into a fielder’s choice, Joris Van Ballegooy doubled to center field, and Hill doubled to center field, each scoring one run.
Wanneroo flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring eight runs on seven hits to take the lead, 10-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Daniel Bourke on the seventh pitch of the at-bat that drove in two.
Giants added to their lead with four runs in the top of the fifth inning thanks to home runs by Henry Schineller and Jones. Bourke hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the sixth, too.
Wanneroo added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning on three hits. Adam Barbarich hit a solo home run to left field, and Fatai singled, scoring one run.
Frazer Brice led things off on the bump for Wanneroo. The pitcher gave up six hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking none.
Kodai Hamaya stepped on the hill first for UWA Magpies. The pitcher gave up seven hits and seven runs over three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three.
Zane Morrison and Callum Schipp each pitched in relief for Wanneroo and shut down UWA Magpies.
Wanneroo tallied 19 hits in the game with three apiece for Barbarich and Jones. Bourke, Barbarich, Schineller, and Fatai each drove in three runs. Nicholas Riley, Daniel Stephenson, and Ethan Cooper had multiple hits, too.
Hill provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading UWA Magpies with two runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Van Ballegooy, Eita Samukawa, and Hill each collected two hits while the defense turned one double play. UWA Magpies were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Henry Kellen made the most plays with nine.
Braves 2, Morley Eagles 1
Both teams were strong on the bump on Sunday as Braves defeated Morley Eagles 2-1. Matt Kennelly started the game for Braves and recorded 27 outs.
Braves were first to get on the board in the second when Daniel Choi singled, scoring one run.
Kennelly earned the win for Braves. The hurler gave up seven hits and one run over nine innings, striking out five and walking none.
Kane Silvi took the loss for Morley. The starter went seven innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three and walking two.
Kevin Clark, Choi, Joel Beches, James Smibert, and Lochlann Varian each collected one hit for Braves. Choi and Jack Rigden both drove in one run.
Matt Dixon went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Morley turned two double plays in the game and didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kieran Chapman had the most chances with 11.
Perth 1, Gosnells Hawks 0
Perth defeated Gosnells Hawks 1-0 on Sunday at Inglewood Oval, Mt Lawley as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Christopher St-Pierre and Jordano Vivona each pitched for Perth in the game. Vivona induced a flyout from Jarrod McKay to get the last out.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Perth pitchers struck out eight, while Gosnells Hawks sat down seven.
Perth got on board in the sixth inning after Dylan Bojarski singled, scoring one run.
St-Pierre earned the win for Perth. The pitcher gave up four hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out six and walking two.
Yuki Narita took the loss for Gosnells. The hurler went eight innings, giving up one run on six hits, striking out seven and walking none. Vivona collected the save.
Jake White, Joshua McGee, Kai Bancesco, Austin Moyle, Jalen McGee, and Bojarski each collected one hit for Perth. Bojarski went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.
Perth turned one double play in the game. The defense was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Bojarski had the most chances with 12.
Lee Wisby, Robin Adamson, Temauri Lane, Tim Leitch, Sam Freedman, and Hudson Morawiec each collected one hit for Gosnells. Hawks turned two double plays in the game with no errors. Adamson had the most chances in the field with 14.
Rockingham Rams 5, South Perth 2
Vinnie Tarantola struck out 15 batters as the left-handed pitcher led Rockingham Rams past South Perth 5-2 on Sunday at Hourglass Reserve, Cooloongup. Tarantola surrendered four hits and two runs over nine innings while walking four.
Rockingham got on board in the bottom of the first inning after Tarantola doubled down the left field line, Jesse Sequeira singled to center field, and South Perth committed an error, each scoring one run.
Rams added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Sequeira doubled to center field. They also scored on a wild pitch.
South Perth scored one run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run to left field by Caleb Goodwin.
Brett Walters hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the ninth for South Perth.
Tysaac Noland took the loss for South Perth. The starting pitcher went six innings, surrendering five runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out eight and walking three.
Sequeira provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Rockingham with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day.
Leadoff hitter Walters led South Perth with two hits in five at-bats. Goodwin and Walters each drove in one run.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 10, Swan Districts 3
Logan Warkentin collected four hits in five at-bats as Victoria Park Belmont defeated Swan Districts 10-3 on Sunday at Forster Park, Cloverdale. Warkentin singled in the fourth inning, hit a solo home run to left field and a double in the sixth, and singled again in the eighth.
Reds won thanks in part to seven runs in the sixth inning. Warkentin hit a solo homer, Sean Garratt singled, scoring one run, Taiyo Kurosawa drew a walk, scoring one run, Ryan Boyer singled, scoring two runs, Cody Van Der Graaf grounded out, scoring one run, and Warkentin doubled, scoring one run.
Swan Districts were first on the board in the second when Warkentin induced Ashton Hamilton to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Vic Park Belmont tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth thanks to two singles. Ben Warrington’s base hit made it a 2-2 ballgame.
Riley Marsh earned the win for the Reds. The pitcher allowed three hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking none.
Dillan Clarkson took the loss for Swan Districts. The hurler went five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out five and walking one.
Warkentin opened the game for Vic Park Belmont. The pitcher gave up six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five and walking two.
Reds tallied 15 hits in the game. Boyer, Garratt, and Warkentin each drove in two runs while Warrington and Matthew Goetzmann collected multiple hits. The defense turned one double play in the game.
Swan Districts tallied nine hits in the game. Hamilton, the number seven hitter, led the way with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Boston Foot had two hits in four at-bats.
