Braves, Wanneroo, Morley, and Perth remain in the top four of Harcher State League standings after the first eight weeks of the 2024/25 season, but there is lots more baseball action to come!

Wanneroo Giants 6, Gosnells Hawks 0
Wanneroo Giants won big over Gosnells Hawks 6-0 on Sunday at Mateljan Park. They scored in the first inning after Henry Schineller singled, bringing in one run.
Wanneroo added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Ethan Cooper singled to center field, Nicholas Riley singled down the right field line, and Adam Barbarich doubled to right field, each scoring one run.
Zane Morrison earned the win for Giants. The pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out six and walking one. Cooper pitched one inning of scoreless ball in relief, allowing one hit, striking out none and walking one.
Yuki Narita took the loss for Gosnells. The pitcher went three innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out five and walking two.
Schineller drove the middle of the lineup, leading Wanneroo with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Riley also had multiple hits.
Temauri Lane, the number seven hitter, led Gosnells Hawks with two hits in three at-bats.
UWA Magpies 16, South Perth Souths 5
Riley Spring collected four hits in six at-bats, as UWA Magpies defeated South Perth 16-5 on Sunday at Collins Oval. Spring hit a home run to left field in the third inning, doubled in the sixth inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
UWA Magpies got on the board in the first inning after Riley Hall singled, scoring two runs. They added three runs in the top of the second on a home run to left field by Joris Van Ballegooy.
Five more runs scored in the top of the third inning on four hits. Eita Samukawa singled, scoring two runs, and Spring homered to left field, scoring three runs.
UWA Magpies scored one run in the top of the seventh on a solo home run to left field by Samukawa.
Nick Alexiou stepped on the bump first for UWA Magpies. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and two runs over four innings, striking out five and walking two. Hall appeared in relief.
David John started on the bump for South Perth. The starting pitcher gave up 10 hits and 10 runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.
UWA Magpies amassed 18 hits in the game. Spring and Hall each collected four hits while Henry Kellen went 2-for-4. Van Ballegooy led the team with two out of seven walks.
South Perth amassed 10 hits in the game. Kane Cole led with two runs batted in, going 1-for-1 on the day. Brett Walters had two hits in four at-bats. The team had patience at the plate, collecting six walks overall.
Wanneroo Giants 10, Gosnells Hawks 0
Nicholas Riley drove in four runs on two hits to lead Wanneroo Giants past Gosnells Hawks 10-0 in Sunday’s doubleheader. Riley singled in the second inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the third inning, scoring two more.
Wanneroo got on board in the bottom of the first inning after Adam Barbarich doubled down the left field line, and Courtney Jones singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Wanneroo added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Riley singled, scoring two runs, and Henry Schineller hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Giants scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Ethan Cooper singled, scoring one run, Riley singled, scoring two runs, Barbarich singled, scoring one run, and Jones hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Frazer Brice earned the win for Wanneroo. The hurler gave up two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking none. Callum Schipp tossed one scoreless inning in relief, giving up zero hits, striking out none and walking none.
Jason Armstrong took the loss for Gosnells. The hurler went three innings, allowing 10 runs on 11 hits, striking out one and walking two.
Wanneroo piled up 12 hits in the game. Barbarich went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Daniel Bourke and Cooper each collected multiple hits while the defense turned one double play in the game.
Robin Adamson and Tim Leitch each collected one hit for Gosnells. They were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Leitch made the most plays with three.
Morley Eagles 8, Rockingham Rams 0
Morley Eagles defeated Rockingham Rams 8-0 on Sunday at Hourglass Reserve, Cooloongup as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Brendan Sing, Kane Silvi, and Raleigh Pelkonen all pitched for Morley. Sing induced a double play to get the last out.
Morley opened scoring in the fourth after Aaron Bonomi singled to bring home two runs.
Eagles scored six runs in the seventh inning on the way to victory. Ethan Mann hit a solo home run to left field, Kieran Chapman doubled, scoring one run, Joshua Silvi singled, scoring two runs, Matt Dixon scored after tagging up, and an error scored one run.
Silvi earned the win for Morley. The starter surrendered one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking one. Sing and Pelkonen both threw scoreless innings in relief.
Kodai Kombara took the loss for Rockingham. The hurler went five innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out three and walking six.
Morley totaled nine hits in the game. Bonomi led the team with three runs batted in as the left-handed hitter went 1-for-5 on the day.
Nick Ultsch went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Morley in hits. Mann collected two hits in six at-bats while Dixon paced the team with three walks. Overall, Eagles had patience at the plate, totaling seven walks for the game.
Ultsch stole three bases with six SBs total in the game. Morley turned three double plays and didn’t commit a single error in the field. Chapman had the most chances with 14.
Vinnie Tarantola and Sam Sheppard each collected one hit for Rockingham.
Perth 14, Swan Districts Swans 3
Dylan Bojarski collected four hits in five at-bats, as Perth defeated Swan Districts 14-3 on Sunday at Charlie Hodder Field. Bojarski tripled in the ninth inning, doubled in the fourth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning.
Perth jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Spencer Sarringar grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and Jake White grounded out, scoring one run.
Perth extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Matt Sibley and Riley Oliphant.
Christopher St-Pierre started on the mound for Perth. The pitcher allowed three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking two.
Dillan Clarkson stepped on the mound first for Swan Districts. The starting pitcher surrendered nine hits and eight runs (six earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking two.
Jordano Vivona threw two innings of scoreless ball for Perth in relief. The hurler surrendered two hits, striking out two and walking none.
Perth piled up 13 hits in the game. Kai Bancesco drove the middle of the lineup, leading with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-5 on the day.
Sarringar and Austin Moyle each collected multiple hits for Perth. The team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Sarringar and Benjamin Nesbit led the side with two bases on balls each.
Perth turned two double plays in the game. They were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error as Sarringar made the most plays with 12.
Landen Barns went 1-for-5 at the plate and led Swans with three runs batted in. Leadoff hitter Michael De Gasperis went 3-for-3 while Boston Foot and Riley Ozanne also collected multiple hits.
Carine Cats 2, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 1
It came down to the wire on Sunday at Carine Open Space as Carine Cats grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 2-1, over Victoria Park Belmont Reds. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the ninth when Kylan Granland singled, scoring one run.
Both teams were strong on the bump. Carine pitchers struck out seven, while Vic Park sat down 12.
Reds got on the board in the first inning after Ryan Boyer doubled, scoring one run. Marcus Strother homered to left field, helping Carine tie the game at one in the bottom of the sixth.
Conor Lourey began the game for Carine. The starter gave up three hits and one run over six innings, striking out four and walking two. Elliot Giddens and Tim Holmes each threw shutout innings for Carine in relief.
Logan Warkentin started for Vic Park. He allowed three hits and one run over six innings, striking out nine and walking three.
Strother led Carine with two hits in three at-bats.
Boyer led Reds with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. The defense turned one double play in the game and didn’t make any errors. Joshua Greenham had the most chances in the field with 12.
