Perth has climbed to the top of the Harcher State League standings, followed by Wanneroo, Braves, and Morley, although there is plenty more baseball to come in the 2024/25 season!

Braves 9, Swan Districts Swans 2
Matt Kennelly hit two home runs and drove in five as Braves defeated Swan Districts 9-2 on Sunday at Charlie Hodder Field. Kennelly homered in the third and fifth innings.
Braves got on board in the first inning after Kennelly singled, scoring one run. They added two runs in the top of the third on a home run to left field by Kennelly. He also hit a two-run homer in the top of the fifth.
Todd Hatcher stepped on the hill first for Braves. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and two runs over five innings, striking out three and walking seven.
Jackson Polllard started the game for Swan Districts. The hurler allowed six hits and four runs over four innings, striking out one and walking three.
Shaun Atamanchuk pitched two innings of zero-run ball for Braves in relief. The pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out three and walking none.
Braves tallied 12 hits in the game. James Smibert and Kennelly each collected three hits while Joel Beches stole two bases. Braves also turned one double play and were sure-handed in the field with no errors. Daniel Choi made the most plays with seven.
Boston Foot and Cole Snidow were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit and one RBI for Swan Districts while hitting back-to-back. Swans had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Riley Ozanne and Rowan Edmunds led the team with two bases on balls each.
Swans didn’t make any fielding errors. Brody Clarkson had the most chances in the field with seven.
UWA Magpies 3, Morley Eagles 2
UWA Magpies bested Morley Eagles 3-2 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. It was tied at two in the top of the seventh when Riley Spring singled, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. UWA Magpies pitchers struck out five, while Morley sat down three.
UWA Magpies got on the board in the second inning after Adam England singled, scoring one run. They added one run in the third as Riley Hall doubled down the right field line on an 0-2 count, making the score 2-0.
Mitch Graham singled to center field, helping Morley tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth.
Nick Alexiou opened the game for UWA Magpies. The pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking one.
Raleigh Pelkonen stepped on the mound first for Morley, allowing two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two and walking four.
Kodai Hamaya threw one inning of scoreless ball for UWA Magpies in relief. The hurler allowed one hit, striking out none and walking one.
Spring, Hall, England, and Eita Samukawa each collected one hit for UWA Magpies. Spring, Hall, and England each drove in one run while there were four stolen bases – two apiece for Spring and Tyler Hill. The defense turned a double play, too.
Graham provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Morley with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Aaron Bonomi, Matt Dixon, Ben Crook, Graham, Ethan Mann, and Nick Ultsch each collected one hit as the defense turned one double play. Eagles were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error with Kieran Chapman taking 12 chances, the most on the team.
Rockingham Rams 4, Gosnells Hawks 2
Rockingham Rams outlasted Gosnells Hawks 4-2 on Sunday at Tom Bateman Reserve, Thornlie. Rams were first on the board in the third when an error scored one run
Tim Leitch doubled down the left field line, helping Hawks tie the game at one in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the eighth, Rockingham broke up the tie when an error scored one run. Then a single by David Nichols followed to extend the lead to 4-1.
Kodai Kombara opened the game for Rockingham. The pitcher gave up two hits and one run over eight innings, striking out four and walking four.
Yuki Narita began the game for Gosnells. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking three.
Nichols provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Rockingham with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-4 on the day. Joshua Diggins, Nichols, and Sam Sheppard each collected one hit while the defense didn’t commit a single error. Nichols had the most chances in the field with nine.
David Burgess and Leitch each collected one hit for Gosnells. Burgess and Leitch each drove in one run.
Perth 10, Carine Cats 4
Perth won big over Carine Cats 10-4 on Sunday at Carine Open Space. Perth jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Dylan Bojarski homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Austin Moyle singled, scoring one run.
Carine Cats scored one run in the bottom of the second on a solo home run to left field by Brendan Heath following an 8-pitch at-bat.
Jordano Vivona hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fifth for Perth.
Christopher St-Pierre started on the mound for Perth. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two.
Tim Holmes began the game for Carine Cats. The starting pitcher surrendered 13 hits and 10 runs (six earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking four. Moyle appeared in relief for Perth.
Perth piled up 13 hits in the game. Jalen McGee led Perth with three hits in four at-bats. Joshua McGee, McGee, and Bojarski each drove in two runs while Jake White, Moyle, and Vivona each collected multiple hits.
Bailey Moorfield and Heath each collected two hits for Carine Cats. Heath hit two home runs in the game. The right-handed hitter went 2-3 with two runs scored and two runs batted in.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 4, Wanneroo Giants 2
Victoria Park Belmont Reds snatched the lead late in their 4-2 victory over Wanneroo Giants on Sunday. It was tied at two in the top of the seventh when Matthew Goetzmann doubled, scoring two runs.
A double by Ethan Cooper put Wanneroo on board in the bottom of the third.
Reds jumped into the lead in the top of the seventh when Joshua Greenham hit a solo home run to center field, Joshua Cosgrove was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Goetzmann doubled, scoring two runs.
Will Shiea stepped on the hill first for Reds. The pitcher gave up six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one.
Zane Morrison began the game for Wanneroo Giants, allowing one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking two.
Leadoff hitter Goetzmann led Reds with two hits in four at-bats. They turned one double play in the game and were sure-handed in the field with no errors. Corey Brown had the most fielding chances with 13.
Cooper led Wanneroo with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Jackson Riley and Cooper each collected two hits as the defense turned a double play.
Braves 4, Swan Districts Swans 0
Braves were triumphant over Swan Districts 4-0 on Sunday at Charlie Hodder Field. They scored in the first inning after Kevin Clark grounded out, and Ben Drew homered to left field, each scoring one run.
Braves added one run in the second after Lochlann Varian singled to left field on an 0-2 count.
Matt Kennelly started on the hill for Braves. The hurler allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking two.
Boston Foot stepped on the bump first for Swan Districts. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and four runs over six innings, striking out six and walking three.
Drew drove the middle of the lineup, leading Braves with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Drew and Josh Kennelly each collected two hits while the defense turned two double plays in the game.
Foot went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Swan Districts in hits. Swans didn’t commit a single error in the field as Brody Clarkson had the most chances with eight.
Morley Eagles 11, UWA Magpies 2
Ethan Mann collected three hits in three at-bats as Morley Eagles defeated UWA Magpies 11-2 on Sunday at Crimea Park, Morley. Mann singled in the first and sixth innings and doubled in the third.
Morley won thanks in part to seven runs in the fifth inning. Mann was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Mitch Graham singled, scoring two runs, Nick Ultsch singled, scoring one run, Kieran Chapman drew a walk, scoring one run, Cody Nicholas hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Brandon Migro hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
UWA Magpies got on board in the second inning after Henty Kellen grounded out, scoring one run. Mann doubled to help Morley tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.
UWA Magpies took the lead in the top of the fourth. An error scored one run to give them a 2-1 advantage.
Kane Silvi earned the win for Morley. The hurler allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Koskei Partington-Hopes and Dylan Palethorpe each threw scoreless innings for Eagles in relief.
Riley Hall took the loss for UWA Magpies. The starting pitcher went four innings, giving up seven runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking two.
Morley tallied 11 hits in the game. Nicholas, Graham, Mann, and Ultsch each drove in two runs while Tom Williams collected two hits in three at-bats.
Madoka Honjo went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead UWA Magpies in hits. Kellen had one run batted in as Tyler Hill stole two bases with four total on the team.
UWA Magpies didn’t commit a single error in the field as Kellen had the most chances with seven.
Rockingham Rams 5, Gosnells Hawks 2
Vinnie Tarantola was dominant on the mound, as the lefty rang up 10 strikeouts in Rockingham’s 5-2 victory over Gosnells Hawks. Tarantola surrendered four hits and two runs over seven innings while walking seven.
Rams got on the board in the top of the first inning after David Nichols singled down the left field line, and Stuart Sara grounded out, each scoring one run.
Rockingham dropped a third strike, which helped Gosnells tie the game at two in the bottom of the fifth. A double by Jacques Langford gave Rams a 4-2 lead in the top of the sixth.
Jason Armstrong started on the hill for Gosnells. The starter gave up seven hits and four runs over six innings, striking out four and walking five.
Rockingham Rams tallied 10 hits in the game. Langford led with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The second baseman went 3-for-3 on the day. Ellis Deakin and Joshua Diggins each collected multiple hits, too.
David Burgess, Lee Wisby, Robin Adamson, and Brendan Warner each collected one hit for Gosnells. Warner and Pat Carlin were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run.
Hawks had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Ryan Smith, Wisby, and Sam Freedman led the team with two walks each. Gosnells turned two double plays in the game and were sure-handed in the field with no errors. Smith had the most fielding chances with seven.
Perth 10, Carine Cats 1
Perth defeated Carine Cats 10-1 on Sunday, thanks in part to seven runs in the fourth inning. Jake White doubled, scoring one run, Riley Oliphant homered to center field, scoring two runs, Jalen McGee grounded out, scoring one run, Dylan Bojarski hit a solo home run to center field, and Jordano Vivona singled, scoring two runs.
Perth jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Joshua McGee singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.
Oliphant stepped on the mound first for Perth. The starter gave up four hits and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking four.
Nico Antoine started the game for Carine Cats. The starting pitcher allowed nine hits and eight runs (seven earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking none.
White pitched two innings of scoreless ball for Perth in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
Perth tallied 13 hits in the game. Bojarski provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led them with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. McGee, Austin Moyle, Vivona, and McGee each collected two hits.
Marcus Strother led Carine with two hits in three at-bats. Conor Lourey went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.
Wanneroo Giants 6, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 5
It came down to the wire on Sunday at Mateljan Park as Wanneroo Giants grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 6-5, over Victoria Park Belmont Reds. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the seventh when Riley Marsh induced Courtney Jones to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Reds were first to get on the board in the second when Joshua Cosgrove doubled, scoring two runs.
Wanneroo scored one run in the bottom of the second on a solo home run to left field by Daniel Stephenson on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.
Giants took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Henry Schineller walked, Jones walked, and Stephenson grounded into a double play, each scoring one run.
Reds made it 5-4 in the top of the fifth thanks to singles by Ben Warrington and Logan Warkentin.
Wanneroo captured the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the seventh after Adam Barbarich doubled to left field, and Jones grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.
Frazer Brice led things off on the bump for Wanneroo Giants. The pitcher allowed 10 hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking four.
Warkentin opened the game for Vic Park. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and four runs over two innings, striking out none and walking seven.
Schineller, Barbarich, and Stephenson each collected one hit for Wanneroo. Schineller, Barbarich, Stephenson, and Jones each drove in one run as Giants had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game. Schineller and Barbarich led the team with two free passes each while the defense turned one double play in the game.
