Harcher State League featured a big week of baseball with Braves, Rockingham, Perth, Morley, Vic Park, and Gosnells getting key wins heading towards finals.

Braves 6, Perth 3
Braves were victorious against Perth 6-3 on Tuesday at Empire Ballpark, Thornlie.
Perth got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Austin Moyle hit a sacrifice fly, and Jordano Vivona singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Braves tied the game up in the top of the fourth thanks to two singles. Braves made it 2-2 on a single by Ben Drew.
Braves took the lead in the top of the fifth. James Smibert hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give them the leg up, 3-2.
Braves committed an error, which helped Perth tie the game at three in the bottom of the sixth.
Braves jumped back into the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Drew singled to right field, Matt Kennelly singled down the left field line, and Geoff Kerr flew into a double play, each scoring one run.
Kennelly stepped on the mound first for Braves. The pitcher surrendered 10 hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two.
Christopher St-Pierre started the game for Perth. The starter allowed five hits and two runs over three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one.
Braves tallied nine hits in the game. Drew provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Braves with two runs batted in. The right fielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Smibert and Drew each collected two hits while Kevin Clark paced them with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game.
Perth accumulated 10 hits in the game. Moyle and Vivona were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run. Jalen McGee collected two hits for in four at-bats. Perth turned three double plays in the game.
Braves 2, Morley Eagles 0
Todd Hatcher was dominant on the hill, as the pitcher rang up 10 strikeouts in Braves 2-0 victory over Morley Eagles on Wednesday at Empire Ballpark. Hatcher gave up two hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking five.
Both teams were strong on the bump. Braves pitchers struck out 10, while Morley sat down four.
Braves opened the scoring in the sixth after James Smibert doubled, scoring one run.
Kane Silvi started the game for Morley, giving up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one.
Nicholas Davis and Smibert each drove in one run for Braves. Ben Drew went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the side in hits.
Braves turned one double play in the game and were sure-handed in the field with no errors. Daniel Choi had the most fielding chances with 11.
Mitch Graham and Joshua Silvi each collected one hit for Eagles. Graham stole two bases.
Rockingham Rams 6, South Perth Souths 4
Rockingham Rams were victorious against South Perth 6-4 on Wednesday at Empire Ballpark.
A single by Jesse Sequeira put Rams on the board in the top of the first.
Craig Saupold singled to center field, which helped South Perth tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
A sacrifice fly by Vinnie Tarantola gave Rockingham Rams the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.
South Perth tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a single by Jake Clark, and a double by Oliver McMahon.
In the top of the sixth inning, Rockingham went back into the lead after Joshua Diggins hit a sacrifice fly, and South Perth committed an error, each scoring one run.
Jeff Wishart stepped on the bump first for Rams,giving up six hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking two.
South Perth starter Josh Dass surrendered three hits and two runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking two.
Tarantola tossed one and one-third innings of no-run ball for Rockingham in relief. The lefty surrendered one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Jake Sheppard and Sequeira each collected two hits for Rockingham. Diggins and Tarantola both drove in one run while Jacques Langford stole two bases.
McMahon drove the middle of the lineup, leading South Perth with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Jake Bowey, Caleb Scorer, Jaxon Limpus, McMahon, Clark, Tysaac Noland, and Saupold each collected one hit while the defense turned one double play in the game.
Braves 4, Rockingham Rams 3
Braves beat Rockingham Rams 4-3 on Saturday at Frankland Park, Hammond Pk.
Rams were first to get on the board in the opening inning when Jesse Sequeira singled, scoring one run.
Braves took the lead in the bottom of the first. James Smibert doubled, scoring two runs, to give Braves the leg up, 2-1.
Joshua Diggins singled, which helped Rockingham tie the game at two in the top of the second.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Braves went back into the lead after Matt Kennelly doubled to center field, and Josh Kennelly singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Kennelly earned the win for Braves. The right-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one.
Kodai Kombara took the loss for Rockingham Rams. The hurler went seven innings, giving up four runs on six hits, striking out five and walking three.
Todd Hatcher threw one inning of shutout ball for Braves in relief. The pitcher surrendered one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Smibert provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Braves with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Kennelly also had two hits. Braves were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Kennelly made the most plays with 11.
Rockingham accumulated nine hits in the game. Stuart Sara, Rams’ number seven hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Sequeira, Diggins, and Sara each drove in one run while Lachlan Cahill collected two hits in five at-bats. Chris Proctor stole two bases.
Gosnells Hawks 3, Swan Districts 0
Gosnells Hawks defeated Swan Districts 3-0 on Saturday at Charlie Hodder Field, Middle Swan as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Yuki Narita and Lee Wisby each pitched for Gosnells. Wisby induced a groundout from Riley Ozanne to get the last out.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Gosnells pitchers struck out 12, while Swan Districts sat down seven.
Hawks got on the board in the fourth inning after Braedan Stannard singled, scoring one run.
Narita led things off on the mound for Gosnells. The pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking four.
Dillan Clarkson started on the mound for Swan Districts. The pitcher allowed six hits and two runs (one earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one.
Wisby tossed two innings of no-run ball for Gosnells Hawks in relief. The righty gave up one hit, striking out none and walking none.
Stannard led Gosnells with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Sam Freedman led Gosnells with two hits in five at-bats. The defense turned two double plays in the game.
Landen Barns, Boston Foot, and Michael De Gasperis each collected one hit for Swan Districts.
Morley Eagles 5, Carine Cats 1
Koskei Partington-Hopes was dominant on the mound, as the pitcher rang up 10 strikeouts in Morley’s 5-1 victory over Carine Cats on Saturday. Partington-Hopes allowed two hits and one run over six innings while walking none.
Morley got on the board in the second inning after Joshua Silvi singled, scoring one run. Eagles committed an error, which helped Carine tie the game at one in the bottom of the fourth.
Morley jumped back into the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Kieran Chapman grounded out, and Reece Thompson singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Conor Lourey stepped on the bump first for Carine. The starter gave up 10 hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six and walking two.
Morley accumulated 10 hits in the game. Aaron Bonomi and Nick Ultsch each collected two hits for Eagles. Chapman, Silvi, Ultsch, and Thompson each drove in one run.
Brendan Heath and Marcus Strother each collected one hit for Carine. Cats were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Strother made the most plays with eight.
Morley Eagles 8, Carine Cats 0
Morley Eagles scored five runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Carine Cats 8-0 on Saturday at Carine Open Space. Mitch Graham drew a walk, scoring one run, Ethan Mann singled, scoring two runs, and Cameron Bahr singled, scoring two runs.
Jayson Miller hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fifth for Eagles.
Kane Silvi started on the bump for Morley. The hurler allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking two.
Tim Holmes opened the game for Carine Cats. The pitcher allowed five hits and seven runs (six earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking six. Brendan Sing, Brady Manning, and Raleigh Pelkonen each came on in relief for Morley and shutdown Carine.
Mann went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Morley in hits. Bahr and Mann each drove in two runs while Aaron Bonomi took two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game.
Morley turned two double plays in the game. Eagles were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Bahr had the most fielding chances with nine.
Cooper McDonnell went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Carine in hits.
Perth 11, UWA Magpies 4
Perth won big over UWA Magpies 11-4 on Saturday at McGillivray Oval, Mt Claremont.
Perth opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Perth first got on the board when Jalen McGee singled, scoring one run.
Perth added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after McGee grounded out, Dylan Bojarski singled to the right side of the infield, and Spencer Sarringar singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
A walk by Benjamin Nesbit extended the Perth lead to 6-2 in the top of the third inning.
Cruze Brendon stepped on the bump first for Perth. The hurler surrendered two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking four.
Kodai Hamaya began the game for UWA Magpies. The pitcher gave up 11 hits and 10 runs (six earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking four.
Oliver Newham tossed one and one-third innings of shutout ball for Perth in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
Perth tallied 14 hits in the game. Number seven hitter Jordano Vivona led with three hits in five at bats. Sarringar and McGee each drove in two runs while Joshua McGee, Riley Oliphant, and Austin Moyle each collected multiple hits.
Moyle and Bojarski stole multiple bases for Perth. The team ran wild on the base paths, collecting six stolen bases for the game. The defense turned two double plays.
Tyler Hill went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead UWA Magpies in hits. Nick Alexiou, Joris Van Ballegooy, and Hill each drove in one run while th team took eight walks total. Van Ballegooy and Hill led the team with two walks each. UWA Magpies turned two double plays in the game.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 7, South Perth Souths 6
Victoria Park Belmont got out to a 4-run lead in the seventh inning and held on for a 7-6 victory over South Perth on Saturday. South Perth closed the gap by scoring on a solo home run, an error, and a single.
South Perth got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Caleb Scorer doubled to left field, and Kane Cole grounded out, each scoring one run.
Vic Park jumped into the lead in the top of the third when an error scored two runs, Sean Garratt singled, scoring one run, and Joshua Greenham singled, scoring one run.
Logan Warkentin homered to center field, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh for the Reds.
Mathew Martin stepped on the mound first for Vic Park. The hurler gave up three hits and three runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking one. Curtis Bacon appeared in relief.
Jason Mann stepped on the bump first for South Perth. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and four runs (three earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking two.
Reds collected 10 hits in the game. Garratt and Cody Van Der Graaf each collected two hits while Warkentin led with three runs batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-4. Vic Park worked the count all day, tallying seven walks.
Caleb Goodwin, Cole, Scorer, Jaxon Limpus, Brett Walters, and Craig Saupold each collected one hit for South Perth. Goodwin, Cole, and Scorer each drove in one run.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 16, South Perth Souths 0
Logan Warkentin drove in six runs on two hits to lead Victoria Park Belmont past South Perth 16-0 on Saturday at Collins Oval, Como. Warkentin hit a grand slam to left field in the fourth inning, scoring four runs, and singled in the third inning, scoring two.
Reds got on board in the top of the first inning after Matthew Goetzmann hit a solo home run to right field, Ben Warrington singled, scoring one run, and Curtis Bacon singled, scoring two runs.
Vic Park added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after South Perth committed an error, and Ryan Boyer grounded out, each scoring one run.
Reds scored two more runs in the third after Warkentin singled to center field. They tacked on eight runs on five hits in the top of the fourth. Joshua Cosgrove was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Aaron Atkinson induced Darcy Clements to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored, Warkentin hit a grand slam to left field, and Sean Garratt hit a solo home run to center field.
Logan Warkentin earned the win for Reds. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking two.
Atkinson took the loss for South Perth. The starter went three and one-third innings, allowing 13 runs (nine earned) on eight hits, striking out one and walking four.
Reds piled up 10 hits in the game. Joshua Greenham, Bacon, and Warkentin each collected two hits while Goetzmann paced the team with three out of six walks. Reds didn’t commit a single error in the field as Greenham had the most chances with four.
Jaxon Limpus led South Perth with one hit in two at-bats.
