“A huge congratulations to the 2025 WA Youth Women’s State Team! This is an incredible opportunity to represent on the national stage, and we know they will make the most of it,” Baseball WA CEO Lachlan Dale said. “We are so proud of our U16 girls and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish.”
Last year, the WA Youth Women’s State Team won bronze at the 2024 Australian Youth Women’s Championship, bringing home the first medal for WA in the U16 Women’s Championships since 2016.
This year, they have their sights on another medal finish while continuing to develop their skills and making amazing memories along the way.
Head coach Gus Golding is joined by assistant coaches Peter Morawiec and Benjamin Drew, who extend their thanks to everyone who attended tryouts for this year’s AYWC team.
“The level of competition was outstanding, and it was great to see the progression of our returning players alongside the emerging new talent. The effort and passion shown throughout the process made selections incredibly competitive, which is a testament to the strength of the programs and the work being done at the club level,” Golding said.
“To those who made the team—congratulations! This is an incredible opportunity to represent our state and compete at a higher level. To those who narrowly missed out, don’t be discouraged. Keep working hard, stay committed, and your time will come. Every one of you should be proud of your efforts.
“The 2025 team features a fantastic mix of new and returning players, and we now turn our attention to the hard work ahead. Leading up to the tournament, our focus will be on sharpening our fundamental skills, improving our baseball IQ, and fully embracing a team-first mindset. If we commit to that, the results will look after themselves. More importantly, I trust this experience will shape these athletes into stronger, more confident players who will return to their clubs as leaders and role models for future teams. We are excited for the journey ahead and I can’t wait to see what this group can achieve!”
