Braves 7, Wanneroo Giants 6
Ben Drew drove in four runs on one hit to lead Braves past Wanneroo Giants 7-6 on Sunday at Mateljan Reserve D1. In the first inning, Drew hit a grand slam to left field.
Braves built a 6-run lead in the third inning and then held off Wanneroo’s charge. Giants closed the gap by scoring on a single, an error, a groundout, and a double.
Braves added two runs in the third after Kevin Clark singled.
Broadee Binder pitched three innings in relief for Braves, giving up three hits and six runs (four earned) while striking out two and walking three.
Alex Oehme stepped on the mound first for Braves. The starter surrendered one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking two.
Arnad Mulamekic led things off on the mound for Wanneroo. The pitcher surrendered five hits and six runs over two and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three.
Yuto Okamura went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Braves in hits. Tim Kennelly collected two hits for Braves in three at-bats. Sam Kennelly led Braves with two out of six walks.
Daniel Stephenson led Wanneroo with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The catcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Cooper Barber batted 2-for-2 as Jake Turnbull had two out of six walks. Barber and Maxim Fullerton each stole multiple bases with six total in the game.
Giants turned one double play and were sure-handed in the field with no errors. Stephenson had the most fielding chances with nine.
Braves 7, Wanneroo Giants 2
Sam Kennelly collected four hits in four at-bats, as Braves defeated Wanneroo Giants 7-2 on Sunday at Mateljan Reserve D1. Kennelly hit a home run to left field in the fifth inning and doubled in the seventh after two base hits earlier in the game.
A single by Ben Drew put Braves on the board in the top of the first.
Maxim Fullerton grounded out, which helped Wanneroo tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
A single by Drew gave Braves a 2-1 lead in the top of the third. Kennelly homered to left field, scoring two runs in the fifth.
Braves starter Matt Kennelly gave up six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking three.
Callum Schipp opened the game for Wanneroo Giants. The right-handed pitcher allowed five hits and two runs over three innings, striking out four and walking two.
Braves totaled 11 hits as Jake Bowey, Kennelly, and Drew each drove in two runs. Kennelly collected two hits in three at-bats. The defense was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Drew had the most chances with 10.
Adam Barbarich led Wanneroo with two hits in three at-bats from the leadoff position. Cooper Barber and Fullerton each drove in one run while the defense turned two double plays. Giants didn’t commit a single error with Byron Armstrong taking eight chances, the most on the team.
Morley Eagles 6, Swan Districts Swans 0
Morley Eagles defeated Swan Districts 6-0 on Sunday at Charlie Hodder Field, thanks in part to five runs in the seventh inning. Sean Means induced Mitch Graham to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, a wild pitch scored two runs, an error scored one run, and Ben Crook singled, scoring another.
Morley was first to get on board in the second when Jess Williams singled, scoring one run.
Kane Silvi earned the win for Morley. The starter allowed two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.
Means took the loss for Swan Districts. The hurler went six and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out six and walking six.
Morley piled up nine hits in the game. Tom Williams and Williams each collected two hits while Graham, Williams, and Crook drove in one run. Morley had patience at the plate, totaling six walks while the defense made two double plays.Riley Ozanne and Jackson Stivey each collected one hit for Swan Districts with a double play on defense.
Morley Eagles 13, Swan Districts Swans 2
Mitch Graham drove in four runs on four hits to lead Morley Eagles past Swan Districts 13-2 on Sunday at Charlie Hodder Field D1. Graham hit a three-run home run to left field in the first, singled in the second, and singled in the sixth, scoring one.
Swans scored one run in the bottom of the first on a solo home run to left field by Michael De Gasperis.
A double by Jess Williams, a groundout by Aaron Bonomi, and a single by Graham helped Eagles extend their early lead in the second.
Koskei Partington-Hopes stepped on the bump first for Morley. The starter gave up two hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking one.
Dillan Clarkson opened the game for Swans, allowing nine hits and eight runs (six earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking two.
Brendan Sing and Lochlan Southee each threw shutout innings for Morley in relief.
Eagles totaled 13 hits in the game as Lachie Waite led with a 3-for-4 day.
Brody Clarkson went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Swans in hits. De Gasperis and Kye Varrone each drove in one run as the defense turned a double play.
Perth 14, Gosnells Hawks 9
Spencer Sarringar hit two home runs and drove in four as Perth defeated Gosnells Hawks 14-9 on Sunday at Tom Bateman Reserve D1. Sarringar homered in the third and fourth innings.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Perth collected 12 hits and Gosnells Hawks 11 in the high-scoring affair.
Gosnells got on board in the bottom of the first inning after Tim Leitch singled, scoring one run, and Ryan Smith doubled, scoring two runs.
Perth tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a single by Jalen McGee and a double by Brayden Moyle.
Hawks captured the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the second after Robin Adamson singled to center field, and Leitch singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Perth made the score 6-5 in the top of the third after Sarringar hit a solo home run to left field, and McGee singled, scoring two runs.
Perth added six more runs in the top of the fourth inning on three hits. Sarringar homered to left field, scoring two runs, Riley Oliphant drew a walk, scoring one run, Jason Armstrong induced McGee to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored, and Sarringar drew another bases-loaded walk.
Gosnells scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to left field by Temauri Lane.
Perth starter Boston Foot surrendered nine hits and six runs over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. Jake White and Cruze Brendon each appeared in relief.
Armstrong led things off on the bump for Gosnells, giving up nine hits and 12 runs (10 earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking five.
Perth totaled 12 hits in the game as McGee led with five runs batted in. The second baseman went 3-for-5 on the day while Kaine Newham batted 4-for-4. Dylan Bojarski paced the side with three out of six walks while the defense turned two double plays. There were no errors as Bojarski had the most fielding chances with seven.
Gosnells collected 11 hits in the game. Smith went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the way while Leitch, Lane, and Smith each drove in two runs. Adamson collected two hits in four at-bats.
Perth 10, Gosnells Hawks 4
Dylan Bojarski drove in four runs on three hits to lead Perth past Gosnells Hawks 10-4 on Sunday at Tom Bateman Reserve D1. Bojarski singled in the second, scoring two, before RBI doubles in the fourth and seventh.
Perth got on the board in the first inning after an error scored two runs. They added two runs in the second after Bojarski singled down the left field line.
Riley Oliphant earned the win for Perth. The reliever surrendered three hits and three runs over two innings, striking out two and walking four.
Takahiro Homma took the loss for Gosnells. The starter went four innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out two and walking two.
Kaine Newham started on the hill for Perth. The pitcher allowed zero hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking four. Jordano Vivona collected the save.
Perth tallied 16 hits in the game. Jalen McGee set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading with four hits in five at-bats. Yuki Maeda and Spencer Sarringar each collected multiple hits while the defense turned a double play. The team was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Sarringar had the most chances with seven.
Robin Adamson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Gosnells with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Adamson, Tim Leitch, and Enzel Takuta each collected one hit while Adamson, Hudson Morawiec, and Lee Wisby led the team with two bases on balls each (eight overall).
UWA Magpies 9, Rockingham Rams 8
It came down to the wire on Sunday at McGillivray Oval D1, as UWA Magpies grabbed a 9-8 victory in walk-off fashion over Rockingham Rams. UWA Magpies were down 8-7 in the bottom of the tenth inning when Vincent Tarantola induced Kyle Poapst to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored.
Bats blistered as both sides collected 13 in the high-scoring game. Rockingham was first on the board when Tarantola singled, scoring one run.
Rams scored five runs on six hits in the top of the sixth inning. Joshua Diggins hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Tyler Hill homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Jax Williams singled, scoring another.
UWA Magpies scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. James Bull hit a solo home run to right field, Cooper Tomkinson hit an RBI single, and an error scored one run. Joshua Houston hit an RBI double, Chris Crawford hit an RBI single, and Tarantola induced Riley Spring to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
A walk by Yosuke Fujie gave Rockingham the lead, 8-7, in the top of the tenth.
Poapst earned the win for UWA Magpies. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and one run (zero earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one.
Tarantola took the loss for Rockingham. The pitcher went three innings, giving up two runs (zero earned) on two hits, striking out two and walking none.
Ryan Warner stepped on the mound first for UWA Magpies. The hurler allowed 11 hits and seven runs (six earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two.
Isaac Keehn led things off on the bump for Rockingham, allowing six hits and one run over six innings, striking out 10 and walking three.
Crawford pitched one and two-thirds innings of scoreless ball for UWA Magpies in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits, striking out one and walking one.
UWA Magpies tallied 13 hits in the game. Poapst and Tomkinson were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits. Poapst and Crawford each drove in two runs while Jaden Babiuk had two hits. The defense turned two double plays.
Rockingham tallied 13 hits in the game. Hill drove the middle of the lineup, leading with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 4-for-6 on the day. Williams and Tarantola each collected multiple hits.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 3, Carine Cats 0
Ryusuke Ito didn’t allow a single run as Victoria Park Belmont Reds defeated Carine Cats 3-0 on Sunday at Forster Park D1. Ito allowed just two hits.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Reds pitchers struck out 14, while Cats sat down nine.
A single by Jack Smalpage put Vic Park on the board in the bottom of the third. They scored one in the sixth on a solo home run to left field by Alex Aguilar.
Conor Lourey stepped on the bump first for Carine. The starter gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out nine and walking two.
Smalpage drove the middle of the lineup, leading Vic Park with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Ryosei Miyazato, Aguilar, Ryan Boyer, Ben Warrington, and Smalpage each collected one hit while the defense turned one double play in the game.
Kamil Pejchat and Eita Samukawa each collected one hit for Carine as the defense turned a double play.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 6, Carine Cats 1
Andrew Hurrelbrink struck out 10 batters as the starter led Victoria Park Belmont Reds past Carine Cats 6-1 on Sunday at Forster Park D1. Hurrelbrink gave up one hit and one run over seven innings while walking none.
Carine got on board in the second inning after an error scored one run. Reds flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in three.
Timothy Holmes took the loss for Carine. The pitcher went five innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on six hits, striking out two and walking two.
Ryan Boyer, Darcy Clements, and Cody Van Der Graaf each drove in one run for Reds.
Elliott Giddens led Carine with one hit in three at-bats.
