Harcher State League is back! Carine, Swan Districts, Morley, Perth, Rockingham, South Perth, Wanneroo, and Victoria Park Belmont all kicked off 2026 with victories as baseball returned from the break.

Carine Cats 8, Swan Districts Swans 3
The bottom of the lineup helped Carine Cats capture an 8-3 victory over Swan Districts on Saturday at Charlie Hodder Field D1. Brendan Heath, Thomas Summers, and Oliver Wilkinson combined for seven of the team’s 12 hits in the victory, scoring five runs and driving in three.
Summers collected three hits in four at-bats in the win, with singles in the third, sixth, and seventh innings.
Cats opened scoring in the top of the third when Kamil Pejchat singled, scoring one run.
Conor Lourey stepped on the bump first for Carine, giving up six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out six and walking two. Meylian Marin tossed one inning of shutout ball in relief with two hits, one strikeout, and no walks.
Sean Means stepped on the bump first for Swan Districts. The starter allowed nine hits and six runs (five earned) over six innings, striking out eight and walking four.
Carine collected 12 hits in the game. Heath, Wilkinson, and Pejchat each collected multiple hits as the latter had two of the team’s four stolen bases. The defense turned a double play and didn’t make any errors as Pejchat had the most plays with nine.
Michael De Gasperis and Anthony Daniele were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Swan Districts. Jackson Stivey collected two hits in three at-bats as the defense turned a double play.
Swan Districts Swans 12, Carine Cats 2
Swan Districts won big over Carine Cats 12-2 on Saturday at Charlie Hodder Field D1. A single by Dominik Grzecicha put Carine on board in the top of the first.
Swans made the score 4-1 in the bottom of the first after Anthony Daniele was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Brody Clarkson doubled, scoring three runs.
Swan Districts scored five more runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning. Michael De Gasperis and Clarkson hit 2-RBI singles before Nick Hoyt hit into a double play, but one run scored.
Carine scored one run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run to right field by Cooper McDonnell.
Dillan Clarkson started the game for Swan Districts. He gave up eight hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five and walking none.
Elliott Giddens began the game for Carine. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and eight runs over one inning, striking out two and walking two.
Swan Districts tallied nine hits in the game. Clarkson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading with five runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Taiyo Kurosawa, De Gasperis, and Clarkson each collected two hits.
Swans had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Kurosawa and Daniele led the team with two free passes each. The defense turned one double play in the game and didn’t commit a single error. Hoyt had the most chances in the field with five.
Brendan Heath, Kamil Pejchat, and Grzecicha each collected two hits for Carine. McDonnell and Grzecicha each drove in one run as the defense turned one double play.
Morley Eagles 10, Braves 9
Nick Ultsch hit two home runs and drove in five as Morley Eagles defeated Braves 10-9 on Saturday at Crimea Park D1. Ultsch homered in the fourth and seventh innings.
Bats blistered as Morley collected 10 hits and Braves tallied 16 in the high-scoring game. Braves were first on the board after Kevin Clark singled, scoring one run in the opening frame. They added two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Lochlainn Varian and Yuto Okamura.
Morley scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo homer to center field by Ultsch.
Braves scored one run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run to left field by Geoff Kerr.
Eagles scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Mitch Graham drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ultsch singled, scoring two runs. Kieren Chapman and Ben Crook also had RBI base hits.
Ultsch hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the seventh for Morley. Eagles retook the lead in the eighth after Ultsch hit a sacrifice fly, Chapman grounded out, and Crook singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Lochlan Southee earned the win for Morley. The reliever surrendered five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Starter Kane Silvi surrendered 10 hits and six runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking none.
Matt Kennelly led things off on the bump for Braves. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and six runs over five innings, striking out five and walking four.
Lachie Waite tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Morley in relief, giving up one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Eagles collected 10 hits in the game with multiple for Chapman, Aaron Bonomi, and Crook. Bodee Wright paced Morley with three of the team’s 11 walks while the defense made two double plays.
Braves tallied 16 hits as Okamura went 4-for-5 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Daniel Choi, Kerr, Clark, Varian, and Liam Collins each collected multiple hits while the defense turned one double play. They were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Ben Drew made the most plays with 10.
Perth 10, UWA Magpies 6
Perth was victorious against UWA Magpies 10-6 on Saturday at Inglewood Oval D1.
UWA Magpies got on board in the third inning after Jaden Babiuk homered to right field, scoring three runs.
Perth captured the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the sixth when Riley Oliphant tripled, scoring two runs, and Jalen McGee singled, scoring one run.
Tyson Edwards tripled, which helped UWA Magpies tie the game at five in the top of the seventh. Boston Foot took a bases-loaded walk to put Perth back in front in the bottom frame, 6-5.
Bryan Nobles grounded out, which helped UWA Magpies tie the game at six in the top of the eighth.
Perth jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning after Brayden Moyle doubled, and Kaine Newham doubled down the right field line, each scoring two runs.
Jake White opened the game for Perth. The right-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking two.
Chris Crawford started on the hill for UWA Magpies, allowing seven hits and five runs over six innings, striking out five and walking five.
Foot pitched two innings of no-run ball for Perth in relief. He surrendered one hit, striking out none and walking two.
Perth collected 11 hits in the game with two apiece for McGee, Oliphant, and Spencer Sarringar. Newham, McGee, Moyle, and Oliphant each drove in two runs while the team had a strong eye at the plate, totaling nine walks. Josh McGee and Sarringar led with two walks each as the defense turned one double play.
Edwards led UWA Magpies with two hits in five at-bats from the leadoff position. Babiuk went 1-for-4 at the plate with a team-high three runs batted in.
Perth 5, UWA Magpies 0
Perth were victorious against UWA Magpies 5-0 on Sunday at Inglewood Oval D1. A single by Spencer Sarringar put them on board in the bottom of the first, while a walk by Dylan Bojarski extended the Perth lead to 3-0 in the second.
Boston Foot pitched three and one-third innings in relief for Perth. The pitcher surrendered four hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking one.
Perth starter Cruze Brendon surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking three.
Kyle Poapst began the game for UWA Magpies. The starter gave up eight hits and five runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking six.
Perth tallied nine hits in the game. Bojarski provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading with two runs batted in as the 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Josh McGee led with three hits in four at-bats while Sarringar collected two hits in three at-bats plus two of the team’s four stolen bases. Riley Oliphant took two of the team’s seven walks.
Josh Mikus went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead UWA Magpies in hits. The defense turned one double play.
Rockingham Rams 8, South Perth Souths 2
Joshua Diggins collected three hits in five at-bats as Rockingham Rams defeated South Perth 8-2 on Saturday at Hourglass Reserve D1. Diggins doubled in the first inning before base hits in the second and fourth.
Jax Williams struck out 12 batters on the day. The starter also surrendered four hits and two runs over five innings while walking one.
Rams got on board in the first after Vincent Tarantola hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. They added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after South Perth committed an error and Diggins singled to right field, each scoring one run.
Takashi Umino stepped on the hill first for South Perth. The hurler gave up eight hits and five runs (three earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Tarantola threw four innings of no-run ball for Rockingham in relief. The southpaw surrendered one hit, striking out five and walking one.
Rams tallied 12 hits in the game. Yosuke Fujie and Diggins were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits. Stuart Sara and Jesse Sequeira each drove in two runs while Williams collected two hits in three at-bats. The team took seven walks as Tyler Hill and Williams led with two free passes each. Fujie had three of the team’s five stolen bases.
Rockingham’s defense turned two double plays and didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hill had the most chances with 18.
Caleb Goodwin provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led South Perth with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Goodwin and Max Wheeler each collected two hits while the defense turned one double play.
South Perth Souths 7, Braves 4
South Perth topped Braves 7-4 on Sunday at Inglewood Oval D1. Braves opened scoring in the first after Yuto Okamura grounded out, scoring one run. They added one run in the second on a bases-loaded walk to Daniel Choi, making the score 2-0.
South Perth pulled ahead 4-2 in the third after Todd Hatcher induced Craig Saupold to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored, Matthew Lozovoy grounded out, scoring one run, and Oliver McMahon doubled, scoring one run.
Luke Gozzi stepped on the hill first for South Perth. The pitcher allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking one.
Hatcher started on the mound for Braves. The pitcher surrendered two hits and five runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking seven.
Lozovoy pitched one and one-third innings of shutout ball for South Perth in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking one.
Saupold drove the middle of the lineup, leading South Perth with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Saupold and McMahon each collected one hit while Caleb Scorer paced the side with three walks and two stolen bases. Overall, the Souths took ten walks.
Matt Kennelly, Ben Drew, and Joel Beches each collected one hit for Braves, while Beches, Xavier Olsen, and Okamura each drove in one run. Choi, Geoff Kerr, Beches, and Liam Collins each stole multiple bases with eight total in the game.
Wanneroo Giants 2, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 1
Arnad Mulamekic struck out 12 batters as the starter led Wanneroo Giants past Victoria Park Belmont 2-1 on Saturday at Forster Park D1. Mulamekic surrendered two hits and one run over four innings while walking four.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Wanneroo pitchers struck out 15, while Vic Park sat down nine.
Giants got on the board in the second inning after Maxim Fullerton homered to right field, scoring two runs.
Ryusuke Ito started on the mound for Vic Park. He allowed two hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking three.
Callum Schipp tossed three innings of no-run ball for Wanneroo in relief. The righty surrendered one hit, striking out three and walking none.
Fullerton provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Giants with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-1 on the day. Fullerton and Jake Turnbull each collected one hit.
Leadoff hitter Ben Warrington led Reds with two hits in three at-bats.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 4, Wanneroo Giants 3
It came down to the wire on Saturday at Forster Park D1, as Victoria Park Belmont grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 4-3, over Wanneroo Giants. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the seventh when Kanta Suzuki doubled, scoring one run.
Wanneroo got on board in the first inning after Jake Turnbull hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. An error extended the lead to 2-0 in the top of the third.
Reds jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Ben Warrington walked, and Jack Smalpage was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.
Ethan Cooper singled, which helped Wanneroo tie it up at three in the top of the seventh.
Andrew Hurrelbrink earned the win for Vic Park. He gave up seven hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking four.
Cooper took the loss for Wanneroo. The reliever went three innings, surrendering three runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking two.
Tom Bailey opened the game for Wanneroo. The starter surrendered two hits and one run over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking seven.
Smalpage went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Reds in hits. Warrington, Smalpage, and Suzuki each drove in one run while the team took nine walks. Josh Cosgrove, Warrington, and Ryusuke Ito led the team with two free passes each.
Adam Barbarich and Cooper were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Wanneroo. Cooper and Turnbull were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run. Giants turned one double play in the game.
