Roleystone 11, Carine Cats Grey 7
Dwayne Pycroft drove in four runs on three hits to lead Roleystone past Carine Cats Grey 11-7 on Sunday at Forster Park in the CBL Division 1 Grand Final. Pycroft hit a two-run home run to center field in the third, plus RBI singles in the first and sixth.
Roleystone got on board in the top of the first inning after Carine committed an error, Andrew Isles grounded out, and Pycroft singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. They added two on Pycroft’s homer in the third.
Six more Roleystone runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 11-4. Michael North homered to left field, scoring two runs, Mitchell Smart and Pycroft both singled, scoring one run. An error and a bases-loaded walk to Sean Kenworthy drew two more runs.
Josh Coe stepped on the mound first for Roleystone. The hurler gave up seven hits and four runs (two earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking two. Jesse Scidone appeared in relief.
Justin Hayto stepped on the bump first for Carine Grey. The righty allowed 11 hits and five runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking four.
Roleystone collected 16 hits in the game. Pycroft and Andrew Drury each collected three hits while North and Smart had two apiece. The team stole four bases and took six walks with two each for Coe and Kenworthy. The defense turned two double plays.
Alexander Hall, Mark Summers, Sean Quinlan, Gabe Thomas, Hayto, Scott Plenderleith, and Ben Hoffman each collected one hit for Carine Grey. Thomas and Hayto drove in two runs while Thomas, Plenderleith, and Hoffman stole multiple bases with nine total in the game, plus six walks and two double plays on defense.
