The 2026/27 Harcher State League season is officially underway, with Round 1 delivering a busy opening week of baseball across Perth.
Eleven games were played from Friday through Wednesday, featuring dominant pitching performances, late-game rallies, high-scoring contests and several closely fought results. Braves and Perth made unbeaten starts with two victories apiece, while Gosnells Hawks also opened their campaign with back-to-back wins.

Braves 4, Morley Eagles 0
Braves defeated Morley Eagles 4-0 on Friday at NSR Hire Ballpark as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Todd Hatcher and Broadee Binder each pitched for Braves in the game. Binder induced a fly out from Jess Williams to get the last out.
Braves got on the board in the top of the first inning after Tim Kennelly singled down the right field line, Braves scored on a wild pitch, and Lenny Golding hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Hatcher earned the win for Braves. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking four. Kane Silvi took the loss for Morley Eagles. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one. Binder tossed two innings of no-run ball for Braves in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking one.
Geoff Kerr and Joel Beches were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Braves while hitting back-to-back. Kerr, Golding, and Kennelly each drove in one run for Braves. Jake Bowey stole two bases. Braves were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Cody Parkinson had the most chances in the field with eight.
Morley Eagles were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Tex Prisovmade the most plays with seven.
Victoria Park/Belmont 4, Wanneroo Giants 3
Matthew Martin was dominant on the bump, as the starting pitcher rang up 12 strikeouts in Victoria Park/Belmont’s 4-3 victory over Wanneroo Giants on Friday at Mateljan Oval. Martin surrendered five hits and three runs over seven innings while walking one.
Victoria Park/Belmont didn’t take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the sixth when Ben Warrington singled, scoring one run.
A double by Daniel Stephenson put Wanneroo Giants on the board in the top of the first.
Victoria Park/Belmont captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth after Darcy Clements tripled down the right field line, and Warrington singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Brayden George took the loss for Wanneroo Giants. The pitcher went two innings, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out one and walking two. Tom Bailey began the game for Wanneroo Giants. The starter gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking four.
Warrington led Victoria Park/Belmont with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. William Truscottpaced Victoria Park/Belmont with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game.
Stephenson led Wanneroo Giants with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Adam Barbarich and Stephenson each collected two hits for Wanneroo Giants.
Gosnells Hawks 4, Swan Districts 1
Gosnells Hawks were triumphant over Swan Districts 4-1 on Saturday at NSR Hire Ballpark.
A wild pitch put Gosnells Hawks on the board in the top of the third.
Jason Armstrong earned the win for Gosnells Hawks. The hurler gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking two. Tyson Noeltook the loss for Swan Districts. The starting pitcher went four innings, giving up two runs on five hits, striking out eight and walking two. Ryan Smith collected the save. Tane Bottingappeared in relief for Gosnells Hawks.
Gosnells Hawks tallied nine hits in the game. Caleb Mulcahy and Smith each collected two hits for Gosnells Hawks. Robin Adamson and Braedan Stannardeach drove in one run for Gosnells Hawks.
Drew Jenkins led Swan Districts with one run batted in. The catcher went 2-for-2 on the day. Jackson Stivey and Jenkins each collected two hits for Swan Districts.
South Perth 5, Rockingham Rams 4
South Perth built a 5-run lead in the second inning and then held off Rockingham Rams’ charge for a 5-4 victory on Saturday. Rockingham Rams closed the gap by scoring on a single and a home run.
South Perth got on the board in the top of the first inning after Caleb Goodwinsingled down the right field line, and Kent Fitzgibbons doubled down the left field line, each scoring two runs.
South Perth added one run in the second. Patrick Temby singled down the right field line, making the score 5-0.
Taylor Cook homered to left field, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth for the Rockingham Rams.
Chayce Humble earned the win for South Perth. The reliever surrendered three hits and three runs (zero earned) over one inning, striking out two and walking none. Aydan Decker-Petty took the loss for Rockingham Rams. The starter went two innings, allowing five runs on three hits, striking out three and walking five. Daniel Galef started on the bump for South Perth. The hurler allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking three. Tembythrew two innings of scoreless ball for South Perth in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking one.
Fitzgibbons led South Perth with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Goodwin and Luke Manneach collected two hits for South Perth. Caleb Scorer led South Perth with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 10 walks for the game.
Cook provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Rockingham Rams with three runs batted in. Cook went 1-for-3 on the day. Jesse Sequiera led Rockingham Rams with two hits in three at bats.
Perth 7, Victoria Park/Belmont 0
Perth defeated Victoria Park/Belmont 7-0 on Saturday at NSR Hire Ballpark as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Oliver Newham, Boston Foot, and Jordano Vivona each pitched for Perth in the game. Newham struck out Tag Quinlivan to get the last out.
A single by Spencer Sarringar put Perth on the board in the bottom of the first.
Perth added one run in the third after Ben Drew grounded into a double play.
Foot earned the win for Perth. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking three. Logan Truscott took the loss for Victoria Park/Belmont. The starter went five innings, surrendering five runs on six hits, striking out two and walking six. Newham and Vivona each came on in relief for Perth and shutdown Victoria Park/Belmont.

Morley Eagles defeated Wanneroo Giants 1-0 on Saturday at Mateljan Oval as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Koskei Partington-Hopes, Kieran Hall, and Lochie Southee each pitched for Morley Eagles in the game. Hallstruck out Daniel Stephenson to get the last out.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Morley Eagles pitchers struck out seven, while Wanneroo Giants sat down nine.

Southee earned the win for Morley Eagles. The reliever gave up zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Jaxon Elliott took the loss for Wanneroo Giants. The hurler went one inning, allowing one run on two hits, striking out none and walking two. Partington-Hopes opened the game for Morley Eagles. The hurler gave up three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking none. Cooper Barber stepped on the bump first for Wanneroo Giants. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking two. Hall collected the save.

Carine Cats 10, UWA Magpies 0
Carine Cats scored seven runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat UWA Magpies 10-0 on Sunday at NSR Hire Ballpark. Arata Samukawa singled, scoring two runs, an error scored two runs, Cooper McDonnell singled, scoring one run, Thomas Summers grounded out, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored one run.
Carine Cats added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Samukawa grounded into a fielder’s choice, Carlos Salas hit a sacrifice fly, and Carine Cats scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
Meylian Marin earned the win for Carine Cats. The starter surrendered three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking one. Kyle Poapsttook the loss for UWA Magpies. The pitcher went three innings, giving up 10 runs (seven earned) on four hits, striking out five and walking five.
Elliott Giddens, Carine Cats’ number seven hitter, led the team with two hits in two at-bats. Samukawa went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Carine Cats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Jake Coorey had the most chances in the field with seven.
Cleary Simpson led UWA Magpies with two hits in two at bats.
Swan Districts 4, South Perth 3
Swan Districts built a 4-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off South Perth’s charge for a 4-3 victory on Sunday. South Perth closed the gap by scoring on a single and a single.
Swan Districts jumped out to the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Michael De Gasperis homered to left field, scoring three runs, and Jackson Pollard singled, scoring one run.
Pollard earned the win for Swan Districts. The pitcher gave up four hits and one run (zero earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking none. Luke Gozzi took the loss for South Perth. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, giving up four runs on two hits, striking out none and walking three. Dillan Clarkson stepped on the hill first for Swan Districts. The pitcher gave up five hits and two runs over four and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking one. Archie Moffat began the game for South Perth. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking none.
De Gasperis drove the middle of the lineup, leading Swan Districts with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Anthony Daniele went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Swan Districts in hits.
South Perth collected nine hits in the game. Chayce Humble led South Perth with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The shortstop went 1-for-3 on the day. Teruya Nakagawa and Kent Fitzgibbons each collected two hits for South Perth. South Perth were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Patrick Temby made the most plays with 10.
Braves 10, Rockingham Rams 7
Tim Kennelly drove in four runs on one hit to lead Braves past Rockingham Rams 10-7 on Sunday at NSR Hire Ballpark. In the fourth inning, Kennelly hit a grand slam to left field.
Rockingham Rams opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two ground outs. Rockingham Rams first got on the board when Jesse Sequieragrounded out, scoring one run.
A home run to right field by Jake Bowey gave Braves the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the third.
A double by Monty Smith gave Rockingham Rams the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fourth.
Matt Kennelly earned the win for Braves. The pitcher surrendered six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out two and walking none. Zac Gomersall took the loss for Rockingham Rams. The reliever went one and one-third innings, giving up seven runs on four hits, striking out one and walking three. Taylor Cookstepped on the bump first for Rockingham Rams. The starter gave up four hits and three runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking four. Tucker Smith threw one inning of scoreless ball for Braves in relief. The hurler gave up two hits, striking out one and walking none.
Joel Vlasic and Joel Beches each collected two hits for Braves. Kennelly led Braves with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Beches stole three bases. Braves stole six bases in the game. Braves turned one double play in the game.
Rockingham Rams amassed 11 hits in the game. Smith, the number seven hitter for Rockingham Rams, led the way with three runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Gomersall and Thomas Flynn each collected three hits for Rockingham Rams. Rockingham Rams turned one double play in the game.
Perth 15, UWA Magpies 3
Ben Drew drove in four runs on three hits to lead Perth past UWA Magpies15-3 on Tuesday at NSR Hire Ballpark. Drewhit a home run to left field in the fifth inning, scoring three runs, and tripled in the third inning, scoring one.
Perth won thanks in part to nine runs in the third inning. Brayden Moylesingled, scoring one run, Jai Hewitt singled, scoring one run, Kaine Newhamsingled, scoring one run, Riley Oliphant hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Spencer Sarringar singled, scoring three runs, Drew tripled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.
Perth were the first to get on the board in the first when Dylan Bojarskidoubled, scoring one run.
Cleary Simpson hit a sacrifice fly, which helped UWA Magpies tie the game at one in the top of the second.
In the bottom of the second, Perth broke up the tie when Ben Nesbit drew a walk, scoring one run. Then a fielder’s choice by Oliphant followed to extend the lead to 3-1.
Drew homered to left field, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth for the Perth.
Oliphant earned the win for Perth. The pitcher gave up three hits and two runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Chris Crawford took the loss for UWA Magpies. The pitcher went two innings, giving up three runs on one hit, striking out two and walking four. Cruze Brendon started on the mound for Perth. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over two innings, striking out one and walking none. Jordano Vivona threw two innings of shutout ball for Perth in relief. The pitcher gave up one hit, striking out three and walking none.
Perth tallied 12 hits in the game. Sarringar and Drew were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Perth while hitting back-to-back. Perth were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Sarringarmade the most plays with five.

Gosnells Hawks 5, Carine Cats 3
Albert Prazak struck out 10 batters as the starting pitcher led Gosnells Hawkspast Carine Cats 5-3 on Wednesday at NSR Hire Ballpark. Prazak surrendered five hits and three runs over seven innings while walking one.
Gosnells Hawks didn’t take the lead until later in the game. Gosnells Hawkswere down 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning when Ryan Smith singled, scoring three runs.
Carine Cats were the first to get on the board in the first when Cooper McDonnell grounded out, scoring one run.
Jamie White singled to left field on an 0-2 count, which helped Gosnells Hawkstie the game at one in the top of the second.
Carine Cats took the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the fourth thanks to singles by Brendan Heath, and Thomas Summers.
Gosnells Hawks captured the lead, 5-3, in the top of the fifth when Braedan Stannard doubled, scoring one run, and Smith singled, scoring three runs.
Elliott Giddens took the loss for Carine Cats. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run (zero earned) on one hit, striking out one and walking one.
