UWA Magpies 10, Carine Cats 0
Kodai Hamaya struck out 10 batters as the hurler led UWA Magpies past Carine Cats 10-0 on Friday at Empire Ballpark. Hamaya surrendered one hit and zero runs over five innings while walking one.
UWA Magpies scored six runs in the fifth inning on the way to victory. Honjo Madoka singled, scoring one run and Tyler Hill homered to left field, scoring three runs. Joshua Houston singled and William Eastman grounded out, both scoring one run.
UWA Magpies got on board in the top of the second after Riley Hill singled, Carine made an error, and Eita Samukawa singled, each scoring one run.
Conor Lourey led things off on the bump for Carine, giving up four hits and three runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Haill tossed two innings of zero-run ball for UWA Magpies in relief, giving up zero hits with three strikeouts and four walks.
UWA Magpies piled up 11 hits in the game as Hill drove the middle of the lineup with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Nick Alexiou, Henry Kellen, Samukawa, and Hill each collected two hits.
UWA Magpies didn’t make a single error as Hill had the most chances in the field with 13.
Jordan Power went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Carine in hits.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 6, Swan Districts Swans 2
Sean Garratt drove in four runs on two hits to lead Victoria Park Belmont past Swan Districts 6-2 on Saturday at Empire Ballpark. Garratt doubled in the fifth inning, scoring three runs, and hit a home run to center field in the fourth inning, scoring two.
Darcy Clements earned the win for Vic Park, giving up no hits or runs in an inning of work with just one walk.
Dillian Clarkson took the loss for Swan Districts, throwing four and two-thirds innings with six runs on six hits, striking out five and walking one.
Mathew Martin opened the game for Vic Park, giving up two hits over four scoreless innings with a strikeout and a walk. Riley Marsh pitched one inning of no-run ball in relief with one hit and one walk. Reds turned two double plays in the game.
Michael De Gasperis went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Swan Districts in hits.
Morley Eagles 4, Braves 3
Morley Eagles were triumphant over Braves 4-3 on Saturday at Empire Ballpark after opening the scoring on back-to-back sacrifice flies in the third. Alex Hall broke through with the first RBI.
Jayson Miller lifted a solo home run to left field for Morley in the fourth. Mitch Power followed up with a solo homer on a 6-pitch at-bat in the fifth.
Joel Beches homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh for Braves.
Warwick Saupold stepped on the bump first for Morley, giving up two hits over three scoreless innings with no walks and six strikeouts.
Todd Hatcher started the game for Braves, giving up one hit and two runs over three innings with four walks and three strikeouts.
Koskei Partington-Hopes and Brendan Sing each appeared in relief for Morley. Power drove the middle of the lineup with two runs batted in on a 2-for-2 day.
Eagles piled up seven walks thanks to patience at the plate, with Ulrich Bojarski and Matt Dixon taking two bases on balls each. The team stole four bases, too.
Braves tallied nine hits in the game with two apiece for Daniel Choi, Ben Drew, and Tim Kennelly. Beches went 1-for-4 at the plate to lead the team with two runs batted in.
Wanneroo Giants 2, UWA Magpies 2
Wanneroo Giants and UWA Magpies tied 2-2 on Saturday at Empire Ballpark. Tyler Hill hit a 2-RBI single to get UWA Magpies on board in the fifth.
Wanneroo tied it up in the seven with a sacrifice fly by Daniel Stephenson and a walk by Nicholas Riley.
Zane Morrison started the game for Wanneroo, giving up five hits over four scoreless innings with three strikeouts and a walk.
Nick Alexiou started on the hill for UWA Magpies, giving up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out three and walking none.
Riley, Stephenson, and Henry Schineller each collected one hit for Wanneroo. Riley and Stephenson each drove in one run while Ethan Cooper took two of the team’s seven walks.
Wanneroo turned one double play in the game and didn’t make any errors as Byron Armstrong had the most plays with eight.
UWA Magpies piled up nine hits in the game. Joris Van Ballegooy and Honjo Madoka were a force together in the lineup, each collecting two hits while batting back-to-back.
Hill drove the middle of the lineup, leading UWA Magpies with two runs batted in as the catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. The team’s defense turned one double play and didn’t make any errors as Henry Kellen had the most chances in the field with seven.
South Perth Souths 8, Rockingham Rams 0
Brett Walters drove in four runs on three hits to lead South Perth past Rockingham Rams 8-0 on Saturday at Empire Ballpark. Walters got them on the board in the third with a 3-RBI base hit. He also singled in the sixth, scoring two.
Jake Bowey earned the win for South Perth, giving up one hit over four scoreless innings with six strikeouts and a walk.
Vinnie Tarantola took the loss for Rockingham, throwing five innings with six runs (two earned) on five hits, six strikeouts, and five walks.
Joshua Rawlinson and Jason Limpus each came on in relief for South Perth and maintained the shutout. Rawlinson took two of the team’s six walks.
South Perth didn’t make any defensive errors as Oliver McMahon had the most chances in the field with 12.
Joshua Diggins went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Rockingham in hits. The defense turned one double play.
Perth 6, Gosnells Hawks 0
Perth scored all six runs in the first inning on the way to a big win over Gosnells. Jalen McGee doubled, scoring one run, Spencer Sarringar hit an RBI sacrifice fly, and Justin Abbot was struck by a pitch with bases loaded. Riley Oliphant took a bases-loaded walk and Jordano Vivona doubled, scoring two runs.
Brayden Moyle earned the win for Perth, giving up one hit and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking two. Starter Christopher St-Pierre gave up five hits and zero runs over three and one-third innings, striking out six and walking one.
Sam Forrest took the loss for Gosnells, throwing two-thirds of an inning with a strikeout and two walks.
Vivona led Perth with two runs batted in as the second baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. McGee led Perth with two hits in three at-bats. The defense turned one double play with no errors in the field as Sarringar had the most chances with 10.
Robin Adamson led Gosnells with two hits in two at-bats. Hawks turned one double play in the game.
Wanneroo Giants 5, Carine Cats 2
Wanneroo Giants were victorious against Carine Cats on Sunday after opening the scoring on Byron Armstrong’s sacrifice fly in the first.
Cooper Granland doubled, helping Carine tie it up at one apiece in the top of the second. They eventually took the lead in the top of the fourth when Thomas Summers singled, making it 2-1.
Wanneroo went back in front after a four-run fifth inning with three walks on bases loaded and a groundout.
Callum Schipp earned the win after giving up zero hits or runs in two innings with a pair of strikeouts and one walk. Frazer Brice stepped on the bump first for Wanneroo, allowing eight hits and two runs over four innings with four strikeouts and one walk.
Carlos Salas took the loss for Carine. Timothy Robinson gave up one hit, one walk, and one run over an inning of work.
Jones and Schineller were a force together in the lineup, both collecting one hit for Wanneroo while hitting back-to-back. Armstrong provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led with two runs batted in. The team took nine walks with two apiece for Nicholas Riley and Cooper.
The winning defense didn’t make any errors as Jones had the most chances in the field with eight.
Summers and Granland were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, both driving in a run for Carine as Jordan Power led with two hits in three at-bats.
Perth 4, Morley Eagles 1
Perth was victorious against Morley on Sunday, thanks in part to an error in the bottom of the third. However, Ulrich Bojarski singled to help Morley tie it up at one in the top of the fifth.
Perth broke through for good in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run. A single by Riley Oliphant followed to extend the lead to 4-1.
Jordano Vivona earned the win for Perth. The righty gave up two hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking two.
Kieren Hall took the loss for Morley. The righty went three innings, allowing one run (zero earned) on two hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
Cruze Brendon didn’t give up any hits or runs in one-third of an inning on the mound for Perth. Jake White threw two and two-thirds innings of scoreless baseball with no hits, just three walks and one strikeout.
Oliphant, the number nine hitter for Perth, led the way with two runs batted in on a 1-for-3 day. Vivona set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Perth with two hits in four at-bats.
Bojarski went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Bojarski and Ben Crook each collected one hit for Morley. Alex Hall paced the Eagles with four out of seven walks.
Braves 6, South Perth 5
Braves built a five-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off South Perth’s charge for a 6-5 victory on Sunday. South Perth closed the gap by scoring on a double and an error.
South Perth was first on the board in the opening inning when Jaxon Limpus scored after tagging up. Kevin Clark’s sacrifice fly tied the game up for Braves in the bottom of the third.
Braves flipped the game on its head in the fourth, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 6-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Lochlann Varian that drove in three.
Matt Kennelly earned the win for Braves. He gave up eight hits and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Tysaac Noland took the loss for South Perth, giving up five runs (three earned) in two innings with four hits, four walks, and a strikeout.
Joseph Ranford stepped on the bump first for South Perth, giving up two hits, two walks, and one run over three innings with six strikeouts.
Shaun Atamanchuk appeared in relief for Braves. Tim Kennelly went 2-for-4 to lead the team in hits with one RBI for Clark and Varian. Braves took six walks with two by Geoff Kerr, plus a double play on defense.
South Perth tallied nine hits in the game. Jake Bowey, Brett Walters, and Limpus each collected two hits while Bowey knocked in two runs. The defense turned one double play.
Rockingham Rams 4, Swan Districts 1
Rockingham Rams beat Swan Districts 4-1 on Sunday after a big third inning. Joshua Diggins singled, Vinnie Tarantola walked, and David Nichols grounded out, each scoring one run.
Kodai Kombara started on the bump for Rockingham, giving up two hits and one run over five innings with six strikeouts and two walks.
Joshua Harvey started for Swan Districts, giving up four hits and three runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking two.
Jeff Wishart threw one inning of no-run ball for Rockingham in relief. He gave up no hits or walks with three strikeouts.
Rockingham totaled nine hits in the game as Nichols drove the middle of the lineup with two runs batted in on a 1-for-3 day. Diggins went 3-for-4 to lead the side in hits.
Stuart Sara collected two hits in two at-bats while the defense didn’t make any errors. Ellis Deakin had the most chances in the field with 10.
Anthony Daniele and Taj Egan each collected one hit for Swan Districts. Daniele went 1-for-3 at theplate and led the side with one run batted in. Meanwhile the defense turned a double play.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 6, Gosnells Hawks 4
Victoria Park/Belmont topped Gosnells Hawks 6-4 on Sunday with the Reds getting on board in the second on a sacrifice fly by Curtis Bacon.
Gosnells took the lead in the top of the third after Lee Wisby singled and Robin Adamson doubled, each scoring one run. Reds made the score 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth after Taiyo Kurosawa singled, scoring one run, and Roy Hotvedt singled, scoring two.
Logan Warkentin earned the win for Vic Park, allowing six hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings with no walks and eight strikeouts.
Wisby took the loss for Gosnells, throwing two innings with five runs (three earned) on three hits, plus three walks and a strikeout. Cody Van Der Graaf and Riley Marsh pitched in relief and shut down Gosnells.
Tim Leitch opened the game for Gosnells, allowing four hits and one run over four innings with two strikeouts and a walk.
Hotvedt went 2-for-3 at the plate, leading Reds with two runs batted in. Sean Garratt and Hotvedt each stole multiple bases with six total for the team.
Gosnells piled up nine hits as Braedan Stannard went 3-for-3. Wisby, Adamson, and Sam Freedman each drove in one run.
