Harcher State League is back in 2025! Braves, Perth, Swan Districts, Rockingham, and Carine kicked off the New Year with wins. Braves, Perth, Morley, and Wanneroo are hanging onto the top four spots with lots more baseball action to come this summer.

Braves 5, Gosnells Hawks 1
Braves topped Gosnells Hawks 5-1 on Saturday at Frankland Park. Hawks were first on the board after Tim Leitch singled, scoring one run.
Josh Kennelly singled down the left field line on the seventh pitch of the at-bat, which helped Braves tie the game at one in the bottom of the fourth. A single by Kevin Clark gave Braves the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the fifth.
Sam Kennelly earned the win for Braves. The hurler allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out five and walking two.
Yuki Narita took the loss for Gosnells. The starting pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out six and walking six.
Todd Hatcher tossed two innings of no-run ball for Braves in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out four and walking none.
Number seven hitter Kennelly led Braves with two hits in three at-bats. Clark, Daniel Choi, James Smibert, and Kennelly each drove in one run while Smibert took two out of six walks.
Joel Beches and Smibert each stole multiple bases for Braves with five total in the game. The defense didn’t commit a single error as Choi had the most chances with nine.
Leitch led Gosnells with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Lee Wisby, Leitch, and Sam Freedman each collected one hit while the defense didn’t make any errors. Ryan Smith made the most plays with seven.
Braves 8, Gosnells 4
Lenny Golding collected four hits in four at-bats as Braves defeated Gosnells 8-4 on Saturday at Frankland Park. Golding doubled in the third inning and singled in the second, fourth, and sixth innings.
Braves got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Joel Beches singled down the left field line, James Smibert doubled down the right field line, and Kevin Clark hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Braves added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Golding doubled to left field, Beches hit a sacrifice fly, and Smibert singled down the right field line, all scoring one run.
Matt Kennelly earned the win for Braves. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Jason Armstrong started on the mound for Gosnells. The hurler allowed 10 hits and eight runs (six earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out none and walking five.
Smibert pitched one inning of no-run ball for Braves in relief. He gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
Braves collected 13 hits in the game, including multiple for Smibert and Jack Rigden. Braves turned one double play in the game.
David Burgess, Lee Wisby, Robin Adamson, and Temauri Lane each collected one hit for Gosnells. Lane led with one run batted in on a 1-for-3 on the day. Hawks had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game.
Carine Cats 3, UWA Magpies 1
Both teams were strong on the mound on Sunday, but Carine defeated UWA Magpies 3-1. Tim Holmes started the game for Cats and recorded 17 outs.
Carine was first to get on the board in the second when Tim Holmes grounded out, scoring one run. Cats scored another run in the top of the third on a solo home run to right field by Cooper McDonnell.
Riley Hall hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the fifth for the UWA Magpies.
Homles stepped on the bump first for Carine. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and one run over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking five. Conor Lourey and Elliot Giddens pitched scoreless relief innings.
Kodai Hamaya opened the game for UWA Magpies. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and three runs over seven and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Number eight hitter Bailey Moorfield showed the depth of Carine’s lineup by leading them with two hits in four at-bats. McDonnell, Carlos Salas, and Holmes each drove in one run.
Carine’s defense turned one double play in the game. Cats were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as McDonnell had the most chances with eight.
UWA Magpies totaled 12 hits in the game. Tyler Hill went 3-for-4 while Nick Alexiou, Jacob Davila, and Marcus Brown also had multiple hits. The defense didn’t make any errors as Hill led with eight fielding chances.
Perth 6, Wanneroo Giants 2
Perth took down Wanneroo Giants 6-2 on Sunday at Inglewood Oval. A single by Jacob Santich put Wanneroo on the board in the top of the fourth, and then Perth tied it up in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a single by Dylan Bojarski and a sacrifice fly by Spencer Sarringar.
Perth captured the lead, 6-2, in the bottom of the eighth after Jalen McGee singled down the left field line, Jordano Vivona hit a sacrifice fly, Bojarski singled to center field, and Sarringar singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Brayden Moyle earned the win for Perth. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none.
Frazer Brice took the loss for Wanneroo. The hurler went one-third of an inning, giving up four runs on four hits, striking out none and walking none.
Christopher St-Pierre started on the hill for Perth, allowing four hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking one.
Zane Morrison stepped on the bump first for Wanneroo. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Perth piled up nine hits in the game. Benjamin Nesbit and Bojarski each collected two hits while Sarringar and Bojarski drove in two runs batting back-to-back. Perth turned one double play in the game.
Nicholas Riley, Courtney Jones, Henry Schineller, and Santich each collected one hit for Wanneroo. Santich led Giants with two runs batted in on a 1-for-3 day.
Wanneroo was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Jones had the most fielding chances with 12.
Rockingham Rams 4, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 3
Rockingham Rams defeated Victoria Par Belmont 4-3 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. It was tied at three in the bottom of the seventh when Jeff Wishart doubled, scoring one run.
Reds got on board in the top of the fourth inning after Logan Warkentin doubled to center field, and Ben Warrington singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Rockingham took the lead 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh thanks to doubles by Jesse Sequeira and Wishart.
Wishart earned the win for Rockingham. The southpaw allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out four and walking two.
Curtis Bacon took the loss for Vic Park. The pitcher went six and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs on 10 hits, striking out one and walking two.
Kodai Kombara led things off on the bump for Rockingham. The hurler gave up eight hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking two.
Rams collected 11 hits in the game. Sequeira provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading with two runs batted while Sam Sheppard went 3-for-4 and Lachlan Cahill collected two hits in five at-bats. Rockingham turned two double plays on defense.
Reds totaled 10 hits in the game as Sean Garratt went 3-for-4 and Warrington and Warkentin drove in one run each. Joshua Cosgrove collected two hits in four at-bats and the defense completed two double plays.
Swan Districts 4, South Perth 3
It came down to the wire on Sunday at Charlie Hodder Field as Swan Districts grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion 4-3 over South Perth. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the tenth when Tysaac Noland induced Andrew Cromwell to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
A single by Craig Saupold put South Perth on the board in the top of the first. Cole Snidow singled to left field, which helped Swan Districts tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.
A single by Boston Foot gave Swans the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the fifth. Noland singled to left field as South Perth tied the game at three in the top of the seventh.
Foot earned the win for Swan Districts. The hurler surrendered one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none.
Noland took the loss for South Perth. The pitcher went four innings, giving up zero runs on zero hits, striking out six and walking three.
Dillan Clarkson stepped on the bump first for Swan Districts, giving up seven hits and three runs over eight innings, striking out five and walking three.
Lucas John led things off on the mound for South Perth. The starter gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking four.
Foot drove the middle of the lineup, leading Swans with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-5 on the day.
Snidow paced Swan Districts with two out of seven walks and two out of four stolen bases.
Caleb Scorer, Jaxon Limpus, and Noland each collected two hits for South Perth. Noland went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Noland had three of the team’s four stolen bases while the defense got a double play.
