The 2024/25 Harcher State League continued with a big weekend of baseball, which saw Braves, Morley, Rockingham, and Perth improve to 3-1.

Braves 3, Wanneroo Giants 2
Both teams were strong on the hill on Friday as Braves defeated Wanneroo Giants 3-2. Sam Kennelly started the game for Braves and recorded nine outs.
Braves didn’t take the lead until later in the game. It was tied at two in the bottom of the sixth when Tim Kennelly hit a solo home run to left field.
Braves got on board in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly and a groundout. Byron Armstrong singled to help Wanneroo tie it at two in the top of the third.
Todd Hatcher earned the win for Braves, giving up one hit over three scoreless innings with one walk and eight strikeouts.
Frazer Brice took the loss for Wanneroo. The right-handed pitcher went one inning, allowing one run on one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Braves starter Kennelly gave up four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out seven and walking one. Tucker Smith tossed one inning of shutout ball in relief with zero hits or walks and three strikeouts.
Zane Morrison stepped on the hill first for Giants. He gave up four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out three and walking two.
Kennelly provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Braves with two runs batted in as the outfielder went 1-for-2. Joel Beches led Braves with two hits in three at-bats from the leadoff position.
Armstrong provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading Wanneroo with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day while Adam Barbarich led the side with three hits in three at-bats.
Giants turned one double play in the game with no errors. Henry Schineller had the most chances in the field with seven.
UWA Magpies 2, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 0
Nick Alexiou was dominant on the hill, ringing up 11 strikeouts in UWA Magpies’ 2-0 victory over Vic Park. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over seven innings while walking one.
The pitching was strong on both sides, with Reds striking out nine. UWA Magpies got on board in the top of the seventh inning after Henry Kellen walked and William Eastman singled, each scoring one run.
Logan Warkentin opened the game for Vic Park. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Eastman, the number nine hitter, led UWA Magpies with two hits in three at-bats. The defense turned one double play and didn’t make any errors as Tyler Hill had the most chances in the field with 11.
Sean Garratt went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Vic Park in hits.
Wanneroo Giants 9, South Perth Souths 2
Wanneroo won big over South Perth 9-2 on Saturday at Crimea Park, Morley. Giants got on board in the second inning with Jackson Riley’s RBI single.
Henry Schineller homered to center field, scoring three runs in Wanneroo’s third inning. Teammate Byron Armstrong followed up with a three-run homer in the top of the sixth.
Callum Schipp led things off on the hill for Wanneroo. He gave up five hits and two runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three. Frazer Brice and Ethan Cooper threw shutout innings in relief
Jake Bowey started the game for South Perth, giving up six hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking one.
Wanneroo collected 10 hits in the game with two apiece for Adam Barbarich, Daniel Stephenson, and Schineller. Armstrong and Schineller were a one-two punch in the lineup, both driving in three runs.
Caleb Scorer, South Perth’s number seven hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats while Craig Saupold had two runs batted in.
Rockingham Rams 3, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 1
Both teams were stong on the mound on Saturday, but Rockingham ultimately prevailed 3-1 over Victoria Park Belmont. Kodai Kombara started the game for Rockingham and recorded 12 outs.
Joshua Diggins collected three hits in three at-bats with a solo home run to left in the third, plus singles in the first and fifth innings.
Rockingham opened the scoring after David Nichols hit a sacrifice fly in the first. They added two more in the bottom of the third on three hits, including a home run by Diggins and an RBI single by Nichols.
Jeff Wishart earned the win for Rockingham. The reliever gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Starter Kombara gave up zero hits or runs in four innings with two walks and four strikeouts.
Mathew Martin took the loss for Vic Park Belmont. The hurler went six innings, giving up three runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking two.
Chris Proctor collected two hits in two at-bats for Rockingham, while Vic Park Belmont was led by Sean Garratt with one run batted in on a 1-for-3 day. The defense didn’t make any errors as Joshua Greenham had the most plays with six.
Morley Eagles 8, Gosnells Hawks 1
Morley took care of business in an 8-1 victory over Gosnells at Crimea Park. Hawks were first on the board when Brendan Warner grounded out in the second to score a run. Jayson Miller’s RBI double tied it up in the bottom half.
A single by Ulrich Bojarski gave Morley a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third.
Warwick Saupold earned the win for Morley. He gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out five and walking none. Kane Silvi started the game, giving up two hits and one run over three innings with one walk and three strikeouts.
Lee Wisby opened the game for Gosnells, allowing six hits and four runs over four innings, striking out one and walking five.
Koskei Partington-Hopes tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Morley in relief, allowing one hit and two walks.
Bojarski drove the middle of the lineup, leading Eagles with two runs batted in. The center fielder went 2-for-4 on the day while Mille also had two hits. Cameron Bahr took three of the team’s 11 walks.
Morley ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases while the defense was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Alex Hall had the most fielding chances with eight.
Warner led Gosnells with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day while Taj Varga had two hits in three at-bats.
Rockingham Rams 11, UWA Magpies 0
Chris Proctor drove in four runs on three hits to lead Rockingham Rams past UWA Magpies 11-0 at Forster Park. Proctor hit a two-run homer to right field in the first inning, followed by a 3-RBI single in the second.
Vinnie Tarantola struck out 11 batters on the day. The lefty also surrendered three hits and zero runs or walks over six innings.
After Proctor’s first-inning blast, Rams scored again on his single and a walk by Tarantola in the second.
Riley Hall started on the moun for UWA Magpies. He gave up six hits and six runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking two.
Rockingham tallied 14 hits in the game. Ellis Deakin, Jesse Sequeira, Stuart Sara, Jacques Langford, and Tarantola all had multiple hits while the defense turned a double play in an error-free game. Proctor made the most plays with 11.
Joshua Houston, Honjo Madoka, and Tyler Hill each collected one hit for UWA Magpies. They didn’t make any errors as Hill led with eight plays.
Carine Cats 3, Gosnells Hawks 1
Both teams were strong on the bump on Sunday as Carine Cats defeated Gosnells Hawks 3-1. Jordan Power started for Carine and recorded 12 outs.
A single by Aden Browne on the eighth pitch of the at-bat put Carine on board in the bottom of the second.
Power gave up one hit over four scoreless innings, walking none and striking out seven. Conor Lourey appeared in relief.
Gosnells starter Jason Armstrong gave up five hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking two.
Carlos Salas, Bailey Moorfield, and Browne each drove in one run for Carine.
Jarrod McKay led Gosnells with one run batted in. The second baseman went 1-for-2 on the day while Lee Wisby set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3. The defense didn’t make any errors as Braedan Stannard had the most plays with five.
Perth 5, South Perth 2
Spencer Sarringar collected three hits in three at-bats as Perth defeated South Perth 5-2 on Sunday. He singled in the third and sixth innings and doubled in the fifth.
Perth got on the board in the first inning after Jalen McGee grounded out, Kai Bancesco singled, and Austin Moyle singled, each scoring one run.
Brayden Moyle pitched three innings in relief for Perth, giving up one hit and one run while striking out five and walking one. Starter Christopher St-Pierre allowed two hits and one run over one inning, striking out one and walking one.
South Perth starter Joseph Ranford gave up eight hits and three runs over three innings, striking out four and walking one.
Perth tallied 14 hits in the game. Moyle, the number seven hitter, led with two runs batted in on a 2-for-3 day. Benjamin Nesbit and Sarringar both had three hits while Jordano Vivona had two.
Perth was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Sarringar had the most chances with seven.
Oliver McMahon led South Perth with one run batted in. The catcher went 2-for-2 on the day. South Perth turned two double plays with no errors in the game. Joshua Rawlinson made the most plays with six.
Carine Cats 7, Swan Districts Swans 0
Carine scored four runs in the fourth inning, helping them defeat Swan Districts 7-0 on Sunday at Charlie Hodder Field. Cooper McDonnell doubled, scoring one run, Brendan Heath singled, scoring two runs, and Jordan Power singled, scoring one run.
Carine got on board in the top of the first after an error by Swans and a groundout by Conor Lourey, each scoring one run. Lourey singled to extend their lead to 3-0 in the top of the third.
Cats starter Tim Holmes allowed five hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking two. Deklan Phillips threw two innings of shutout ball in relief with zero hits, one walk, and one strikeout.
Dillian Clarkson stepped on the bump first for Swan Districts. He gave up 10 hits and seven runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking one.
Carine collected 13 hits in the game as Power went 3-for-4 and Lourey and Heath drove in two runs each. McDonnell and Bailey Moorfield had multiple hits while the defense turned one double play. Carine was sure-handed in the field and didn’t make any errors as Lourey had the most chances with nine.
Landen Barns, Anthony Daniele, Ashton Hamilton, Josh Dowling, and Taj Egan each collected one hit for Swans.
Braves 7, Perth 0
Ben Drew drove in four runs on two hits to lead Braves past Perth 7-0 on Sunday. He doubled in the first scoring two, singled in the third scoring one, and hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth scoring one.
Braves jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Matt Kennelly drew a walk, scoring one run, and Drew doubled, scoring two runs.
Braves added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kevin Clark grounded out and Drew singled, each scoring one run.
Kennelly earned the win for Braves. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Jake White took the loss for Perth. The starter went three innings, giving up five runs on four hits, striking out four and walking four.
Shaun Atamanchuk threw two innings of zero-run ball for Braves in relief, giving up two hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
Drew and Sam Kennelly each collected two hits for the winning side. Tim Kennelly led with two out of seven walks while Joel Beches stole two bases. The defense turned one double play in the game.
Jordano Vivona, Dylan Bojarski, and Spencer Sarringar each collected one hit for Perth. The side didn’t commit any errors as Bojarski had the most chances in the field with eight.
Morley Eagles 3, Swan Districts 0
Both teams were strong on the hill on Sunday, but Morley eventually prevailed 3-0. Eagles starter Kieren Hall recorded nine outs while Mitch Graham grounded out to put up the first run in the opening frame.
Morley scored two more in the top of the second on a home run to left field by Joshua Silvi.
Raleigh Pelkonen earned the win for Eagles. He allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Hall gave up zero hits and zero runs in his three-inning start with seven strikeouts and no walks. Brendan Sing contributed two innings of shutout ball in relief, giving up two hits, no walks, and three strikeouts.
Joshua Harvey took the loss for Swan Districts after throwing five innings, giving up three runs on eight hits, striking out one, and walking none.
Silvi led Morley with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Ulrich Bojarski, Kieran Chapman, Aaron Bonomi, Silvi, Alex Hall, Cody Nicholas, Ben Crook, and Graham each collected one hit.
Morley didn’t commit a single error in the field as Hall had the most chances with 12.
Landen Barns, Anthony Daniele, and Andrew Cromwell each collected one hit for Swans. There were no fielding errors with Josh Dowling leading the side, taking nine chances.
