Braves, Morley, Wanneroo, and Perth make up the top four after the first six weeks of the 2024/25 Harcher State League season.

Morley Eagles 5, Wanneroo Giants 0
Kieren Hall was dominant on the hill, as the righty rang up 11 strikeouts in Morley’s 5-0 victory over Wanneroo on Friday at Empire Ballpark, Thornlie. Hall gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings while walking none.
Eagles jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Ben Crook drew a walk, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored two runs.
Tom Bailey took the loss for Wanneroo. The hurler went three innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out two and walking four.
Brendan Sing and Kane Silvi each threw scoreless innings for Morley in relief.
Eagles collected nine hits in the game. George Calverley went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Morley in hits. Jess Williams, Reece Thompson, Crook, and Jayson Miller each drove in one run while Matt Dixon paced the team with two out of six walks. The defense turned one double play in the game, too.
Byron Armstrong, Daniel Stephenson, and Courtney Jones each collected one hit for Wanneroo. Giants were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error as Henry Schineller made the most plays with seven.
Braves 9, Rockingham Rams 0
Braves won big over Rockingham Rams 9-0 on Sunday at Hourglass Reserve, Cooloongup.
Braves got on board in the top of the first inning after Sam Kennelly singled to center field, Ben Drew doubled down the right field line, and Geoff Kerr hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
A double by James Smibert extended the Braves lead to 4-0 in the top of the second inning. They added four more runs in the top of the seventh inning on five hits. Kennelly hit a solo home run to left field, Daniel Choi doubled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
Matt Kennelly opened the game for Braves. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out five and walking one. Shaun Atamanchuk threw one inning of zero-run ball in relief, giving up one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Kodai Kombara led things off on the bump for Rockingham Rams. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and five runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out eight and walking three.
Braves tallied 13 hits in the game. Kerr, the number seven hitter, led the side with three hits in three at-bats while Choi and Kennelly each drove in two runs and Drew collected two hits in three at-bats. Braves turned one double play in the game and were sure-handed in the field with no errors. Drew had the most fielding chances with 10.
Jesse Sequeira, Joshua Diggins, Stuart Sara, Vinnie Tarantola, and Ashton Crouch each collected one hit for Rockingham.
Perth 4, UWA Magpies 2
Perth snatched the lead late in their 4-2 victory over UWA Magpies on Sunday. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the fifth when Spencer Sarringar singled, scoring two runs.
A single by Dylan Bojarski put Perth on the board in the bottom of the second.
UWA Magpies took the lead in the top of the fourth inning when Tyler Hill scored after tagging up, and Henry Kellen singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Perth made the score 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth after Austin Moyle doubled, scoring one run, and Sarringar singled, scoring two runs.
Jake White earned the win for Perth. The reliever allowed six hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking two.
Kodai Hamaya took the loss for UWA Magpies. The hurler went six innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking two.
Christopher St-Pierre stepped on the mound first for Perth. The starter surrendered two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out none and walking none.
Perth tallied nine hits in the game. Sarringar provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Sarringar, Moyle, and Bojarski each collected two hits for Perth while the defense turned three double plays.
Riley Hall and Hill each collected two hits for UWA Magpies. Nick Alexiou and Kellen each drove in one run while Joshua Houston made the most fielding plays with eight in an error-free game.
Swan Districts 11, Gosnells Hawks 7
Swan Districts were triumphant over Gosnells Hawks 11-7 on Sunday at Tom Bateman Reserve, Thornlie.
Hawks scored the first when Taj Varga was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Swans flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Michael De Gasperis that drove in two.
Gosnells responded in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-5.
Swans made it 9-7 in the top of the fifth after an error scored two runs, and Anthony Daniele hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Joshua Harvey earned the win for Swan Districts. The reliever surrendered eight hits and five runs over four innings, striking out two and walking four.
Tim Leitch took the loss for Gosnells. The righty went two innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on one hit, striking out one and walking three.
Manuel Silva began the game for Swan Districts. The hurler surrendered three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out two and walking four.
Yuki Narita stepped on the bump first for Gosnells Hawks. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and six runs (five earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking five.
Daniele provided pop in the middle of the Swans lineup with three runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day.
Brody Clarkson led Swan Districts with three hits in four at-bats while De Gasperis collected two hits in five at-bats. Swans had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Kye Varrone, Taj Egan, and Riley Ozanne led the team with two bases on balls each. The defense turned one double play in the game, too.
Gosnells piled up 11 hits in the game. Brendan Warner, number seven hitter, led the team with three hits in four at-bats. Varga and Sam Freedman each drove in two runs while Robin Adamson collected two hits in three at-bats. Gosnells had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game, including two apiece for Ryan Smith and Temauri Lane.
Braves 3, Rockingham Rams 0
Tucker Smith struck out 10 batters as the pitcher led Braves past Rockingham Rams 3-0 on Sunday at Hourglass Reserve, Cooloongup. Smith allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings while walking none.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Braves pitchers struck out 13, while Rockingham sat down eight.
Braves got on the board in the top of the second inning after Matt Kennelly singled to left field, and Josh Kennelly hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Todd Hatcher and Sam Kennelly each came on in relief and shut down Rams.
Vinnie Tarantola began the game for Rockingham. The southpaw gave up six hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Geoff Kerr and Kennelly were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Braves. Kennelly went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
Tarantola and Ashton Crouch each collected one hit for Rockingham.
Perth 2, UWA Magpies 1
Both teams were strong on the mound on Sunday, but Perth ultimately defeated UWA Magpies 2-1. Cruze Brendon started the game for Perth and recorded 12 outs.
A single by Jordano Vivona put Perth on the board in the bottom of the second.
Riley Oliphant earned the win for Perth. The lefty gave up four hits and one run over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking none.
Nick Alexiou took the loss for UWA Magpies. The pitcher went six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out seven and walking none.
Brendon stepped on the hill first for Perth. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Vivona appeared in relief.
Spencer Sarringar, Vivona, Jalen McGee, and Dylan Bojarski each collected one hit for Perth. Vivona and McGee each drove in one run while the defense turned two double plays in the game. The team was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Sarringar had the most fielding chances with seven.
Henry Kellen led the team with one run batted in. Riley Spring, Madoka Honjo, and Riley Hall each collected two hits and the defense turned one double play.
Swan Districts 6, Gosnells Hawks 1
Swan Districts outlasted Gosnells Hawks 6-1 on Sunday at Tom Bateman Reserve, Thornlie. Swans got on the board in the top of the first inning after Anthony Daniele singled to center field, and Cole Snidow hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Gosnells scored one run in the bottom of the first on a solo home run to right field by Sam Freedman.
A double by Snidow extended the Swan Districts lead to 3-1 in the top of the third inning.
Swans starter Dillan Clarkson gave up seven hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking three. Boston Foot pitched two innings of no-run ball in relief. The hurler allowed two hits, striking out one and walking one.
Jason Armstrong led things off on the bump for Gosnells, giving up 10 hits and five runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking three.
Swan Districts totaled 11 hits in the game. Daniele drove the middle of the lineup with three runs batted in on a 2-for-4 day. Brody Clarkson, Daniele, Michael De Gasperis, and Snidow each collected two hits.
Swans worked the count all day, collecting six walks while the defense had one double play in the game. They didn’t commit a single error in the field as Clarkson had the most chances with eight.
Gosnells piled up nine hits in the game. Freedman went 2-for-4 at the plate with one run batted in while Ryan Smith also had multiple hits. Hawks turned one double play and were sure-handed with no errors as Tim Leitch made the most plays with eight.
Morley Eagles 10, Carine Cats 2
Jess Williams collected four hits in five at-bats as Morley defeated Carine 10-2 on Sunday at Crimea Park. Williams singled in the first and fourth innings and tripled in the sixth and eighth innings.
Carine got on board in the first inning after Jordan Power grounded out, scoring one run.
Morley captured a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first when Matt Dixon drew a walk, scoring one run, Kieran Chapman hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Tom Williams singled, scoring two runs.
Eagles added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Chapman grounded out, and Jayson Miller doubled to center field, each scoring one run.
Raleigh Pelkonen earned the win for Morley. The southpaw gave up three hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one.
Conor Lourey took the loss for Carine. The starter went three innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on four hits, striking out four and walking two.
Kane Silvi stepped on the bump first for Morley. The starter surrendered five hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Koskei Partington-Hopes and Brendan Sing pitched in relief and shut down the Cats.
Morley tallied 11 hits in the game as Chapman, Williams, and Ethan Mann each drove in two runs. The defense turned one double play in the game.
Power provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Carine with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Cooper McDonnell went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the side in hits while Thomas Summers and Marcus Strother also had multiple hits. The defense turned one double play in the game.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 6, South Perth Souths 4
Victoria Park Belmont built a 5-run lead in the seventh inning and then held off South Perth’s charge for a 6-4 victory on Sunday. Souths closed the gap by scoring on a balk and a single.
Reds were first on the board in the third when Sean Garratt doubled, scoring one run.
Reds committed an error, which helped South Perth tie the game at one in the top of the fourth. However, Vic Park jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after Joshua Cosgrove singled down the right field line, and Matthew Goetzmann doubled to center field, both scoring two runs.
Mathew Martin earned the win for Vic Park. The hurler allowed three hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Tysaac Noland took the loss for South Perth. The reliever went three innings, giving up four runs on five hits, striking out four and walking two.
Jai Hewitt led things off on the mound for South Perth. The pitcher surrendered two hits and one run over three innings, striking out five and walking two.
Logan Warkentin collected the save and Riley Marsh appeared in relief for Reds.
Vic Park piled up 10 hits in the game. Garratt, Goetzmann, and Warkentin each collected two hits while Cosgrove and Goetzmann drove in two runs. Goetzmann and Warkentin stole two bases each as the defense turned one double play.
Caleb Goodwin, Hewitt, Caleb Scorer, Joshua Rawlinson, Jaxon Limpus, Naoto Hanawa, Brett Walters, and Craig Saupold each collected one hit for South Perth. Saupold went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.
