The Women’s Elite Series featured two action-packed games at Empire Ballpark on Wednesday night to round out 2024.

Wanneroo Giants 9, Carine Cats 2
Wanneroo Giants scored five runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Carine Cats 9-2 on Wednesday. Chloe Atkinson singled, scoring three runs, Mackenzie Colgan singled, scoring one run, and Charlotte Yates singled, scoring one run.
Carine opened scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Cats first got on the board when Tiah Hope singled, scoring one run.
Wanneroo took the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the second thanks to two errors. They added one run in the third as Atkinson singled, making the score 4-2.
Grace Spano earned the win for Wanneroo. She gave up two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out five and walking two.
Peyton Newman stepped on the hill first for Carine. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and three runs (zero earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking two.
Meaghan Haggart tossed two innings of zero-run ball for Wanneroo in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking one.
Atkinson provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led Wanneroo with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Haggart paced the side with two out of six walks for the game.
Jessica Knight, Makayla George, and Haggart each stole multiple bases as the Giants ran wild on the base paths with 13 SBs total. Wanneroo was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Atkinson had the most chances with 11.
Hope and Briah Burke were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit and one RBI for Carine while hitting back-to-back. Chloe Scott stole two bases.
Braves 7, Kalamunda Rangers 3
Braves were victorious against Kalamunda Rangers 7-3 on Wednesday at Empire Ballpark. Braves jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Madison White singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
Braves added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Caitlin Eynon tripled, scoring three runs, and White singled, scoring one run.
Ava Tyson led things off on the mound for Braves. The pitcher gave up three hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking two.
Emily Millard began the game for Kalamunda. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and seven runs (six earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking four.
Eynon and White were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Braves while hitting back-to-back. White stole two bases with five total in the game, plus six walks.
Brooke Danks led Kalamunda with one run batted on a 1-for-2 day. Millard, Jade Henwood, and Danks each collected one hit for Kalamunda.
