The 2024 Women’s Elite Series is bringing the heat as four teams face off as part of a new Club Cup Tournament played on Wednesday nights at Empire Ballpark. This week, Wanneroo Giants took on Kalamunda Rangers, and the first few innings were close until a big fourth inning changed the game for the Giants.
The Women’s Elite Series follows a single-round format for four games, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals. Games are seven innings with a two-hour time limit, and each one is broadcast on Streamer (7West Media) as part of a new partnership.

Wanneroo Giants 13, Kalamunda Rangers 0
Wanneroo Giants defeated Kalamunda Rangers 13-0 on Wednesday at Empire Ballpark. They first scored in the top of the third inning on a walk and wild pitch.
Giants scored nine in the fourth inning on a couple of bases-loaded walks and 2-RBI singles by Charlotte Yates and Chloe Atkinson. Samantha Thrush grounded out and Mackenzie Colgan hit into a fielder’s choice, adding to the run tally.
Lines stepped on the hill first for Wanneroo. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking three. Makayla George tossed two innings of scoreless ball in relief, giving up two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Isabella Clarke started the game for Kalamunda, giving up two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Atkinson went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Wanneroo in hits. Yates, Thrush, Colgan, and Atkinson each drove in two runs while Meaghan Haggart, Colgan, George, and Lines took two walks. Grace Spano had two out of six stolen bases while the defense didn’t make any errors. Haggart made the most plays with eight.
Sharna Trigg, Emily Millard, Hardwick, and Christina Rando each collected one hit for Kalamunda.
