The 2024 Women’s Elite Series is heating up with a brilliant doubleheader on Wednesday night at Empire Ballpark. Braves walked it off fo the first win of the night, but Wanneroo came back to settle the score and secure victory in the second game.

Braves 5, Wanneroo Giants 4
Braves took the first game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over Wanneroo. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh when Meaghan Haggart induced Ava Tyson to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Braves got on board in the first when Caitlin Eynon doubled, scoring one run. Giants scored on a wild pitch to tie it up at one in the top of the second.
Wanneroo took the lead in the top of the fifth. Chloe Atkinson singled, scoring one run, to give Giants the edge, 2-1.
Madison White walked, which helped Braves tie it up at two in the bottom of the fifth. Braves ended up taking the lead in the bottom of the sixth as Jemma Golding grounded out, scoring one run, to make it 3-2.
Wanneroo regained the lead in the top of the seventh. Megan Everitt singled, scoring two runs, to give them a 4-3 advantage.
Braves jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after Lily Duckworth walked, and Tyson grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.
Amanda Mirco earned the win for Braves. She allowed three hits and three runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking one.
Haggart took the loss for Wanneroo, throwing six and one-third innings, surrendering five runs on four hits, striking out 11 and walking 10.
Eynon led things off on the bump for Braves. The pitcher allowed zero hits and one run over one and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking five. Leah Cornish tossed two and one-third innings of scoreless ball in relief, giving up zero hits, striking out five and walking one.
Eynon went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Braves in hits. Golding, Duckworth, White, Eynon, and Tyson each drove in one run while the team collected 10 walks for the game. White, Cornish, and Miane van Splunder with two bases on balls each. Braves ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game.
Everitt drove the middle of the lineup, leading Giants with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Atkinson, Everitt, and Grace Spano each collected one hit while the team took seven walks for the game. Charlotte Yates and Haggart led with two walks each.
Atkinson and Haggart each stole multiple bases for Giants with eight total for the team. They were strong on defense with no errors as Atkinson had the most chances in the field with 11.
Wanneroo Giants 5, Braves 2
Wanneroo were triumphant over Braves 5-2 in the second game of the doubleheader. Giants scored in the bottom of the first inning after Meaghan Haggart tripled down the left field line, and Wanneroo scored on a wild pitch, each bringing home a run.
Makayla George earned the win for Wanneroo. The pitcher allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking one. Madison Lines appeared in relief.
Leah Cornish took the loss for Braves. The pitcher went four innings, giving up four runs on three hits, striking out nine and walking four.
Samantha Thrush led Wanneroo with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Lines, Haggart, Chloe Atkinson, and Thrush each collected one hit while the defense didn’t commit a single error in the field. Haggart had the most fielding chances with nine.
Emilee Hone, Jemma Golding, Mia Davis, Cornish, Caitlin Eynon, and Lily Duckworth each collected one hit for Braves. Eynon went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Braves were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error as Madison White made the most plays with 10.
