Braves 6, Carine Cats 3
Braves were victorious against Carine Cats 6-3 on Wednesday at Empire Ballpark.
Braves got on board in the bottom of the third inning after Caitlin Eynon tripled, scoring two runs, Leah Cornish hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Emilee Hone grounded out, scoring one run.
Ava Tyson earned the win for Braves. The pitcher allowed four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out four and walking six.
Briah Burke took the loss for Carine. The hurler went three innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking one.
Leadoff hitter Jemma Golding led Braves with two hits in three at-bats. Eynon and Cornish were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs while Madison White had two of the team’s four stolen bases.
Braves turned one double play in the game. They were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Shenaye Lett had the most fielding chances with six.
Elodie O’Sullivan, Mylie Watt, Leah McDonough, and Chloe Scott each collected one hit for Carine. Tiah Hope, McDonough, and Scott each drove in one run. O’Sullivan stole two bases as the Cats tallied six walks for the game.
Braves play Kalamunda Rangers next Wednesday.
Wanneroo Giants 9, Kalamunda Rangers 0
The bottom of the lineup helped Wanneroo Giants capture a 9-0 victory over Kalamunda Rangers on Wednesday at Empire Ballpark. Jessica Knight, Mackenzie Colgan, and Samantha Thrush combined for four of the team’s eight hits in the victory. They scored four runs and drove in four.
Wanneroo started early as Chloe Atkinson singled, scoring one run in the first. They added two runs in the second after Thrush tripled.
Giants added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Atkinson singled, scoring one run, Megan Everitt drew a walk, scoring one run, and Thrush singled, scoring two runs.
Madison Lines earned the win for Wanneroo. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking two.
Torrance Parry took the loss for Kalamunda. The starter went two innings, surrendering six runs (five earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking four.
Thrush led Wanneroo with four runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. Colgan, Atkinson, and Thrush each collected two hits while Everitt paced the team with two out of seven walks. Knight, Meaghan Haggart, and Atkinson each stole multiple bases with 12 total in the game, plus one double play.
Jade Henwood went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Rangers in hits and turned one double play in the game.
Wanneroo take on Carine in their next game.
