Morley, Braves, Perth, Wanneroo, and Carine round out the top five in the Harcher State League standings after the first ten weeks.

Braves 15, Carine Cats 0
Ben Drew drove in five runs on two hits to lead Braves past Carine Cats 15-0 on Sunday at Carine Open Space D1. Drew singled in the third inning, scoring one, and hit a three-run home run to left field in the seventh.
Matt Kennelly started things off strong for Braves as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. They walked only two on the way to victory.
Braves opened scoring in the second after Geoff Kerr hit a sacrifice fly to bring home a run. They added seven runs on five hits in the third on a single by Drew and an error before Kennelly’s 3-HR and Kerr’s solo shot. Joel Beches also doubled to score a run.
Kennelly led things off on the mound for Braves. The starter gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Meylian Marin started on the bump for Carine. The pitcher allowed five hits and eight runs (two earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking four.
Todd Hatcher pitched two innings of zero-run ball for Braves in relief. The pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out four and walking one.
Braves tallied 13 hits in the game with two each for Beches, Kevin Clark, Drew, and Yuto Okamura. Kennelly paced the team with three out of nine total walks. The defense turned one double play and didn’t commit a single error as Daniel Choi had the most chances in the field with 10.
Eita Samukawa led Carine with one hit in three at-bats.
Morley Eagles 8, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 2
The bottom of the lineup helped Morley Eagles capture an 8-2 victory over Victoria Park Belmont on Sunday at Forster Park D1. Josh Silvi, Reece Thompson, and Jeremy Sexton combined for four of the team’s eight hits in the victory, scoring two runs and driving in two.
Eagles were first to get on the board in the second when an error scored one run. They added to their early lead in the third after Nick Ultsch grounded out, scoring one run.
Kane Silvi opened the game for Morley. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking none. Lachie Waite tossed one inning of scoreless ball in relief, giving up zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
Ryusuke Ito opened the game for Vic Park. The pitcher allowed eight hits and eight runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking two.
Ben Crook and Sexton each collected two hits for Morley as Aaron Bonomi led with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Eagles stole four bases and were sure-handed in the field with no errors – Mitch Graham had the most chances with six.
Ryan Boyer, Joshua Greenham, Jack Smalpage, Ben Warrington, Kanta Suzuki, and Darcy Clements each collected one hit for Reds. Greenham and Suzuki each drove in one run.
Morley Eagles 6, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 5
Morley Eagles were triumphant over Victoria Park Belmont Reds 6-5 on Sunday at Forster Park D1.
Vic Park scored in the first when Ben Warrington hit a sacrifice fly, bringing home one run. They added another in the second on an error, making the score 2-0. Another error made it a 3-1 ballgame in the next inning.
Morley jumped into the lead at the top of the seventh when Mitch Graham singled, scoring two runs, Nick Ultsch hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Ben Crook singled, scoring another.
Lochlan Southee earned the win for Morley. The hurler surrendered three hits and two runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking two.
Masa Fujiura took the loss for Vic Park. The reliever went two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out one and walking three.
Koskei Partington-Hopes started the game for Morley. The pitcher surrendered two hits and three runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking two.
Logan Truscott stepped on the bump first for Vic Park. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and two runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two.
Morley piled up nine hits in the game. Graham drove the middle of the lineup, leading with three runs batted in as the infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Josh Silvi, Graham, and Crook each collected two hits while the defense turned one double play.
Warrington went 1-for-3 at the plate and led Vic Park with two runs batted in. Kanta Suzuki had two hits in three at-bats from the leadoff position and stole two bases. Reds were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Jack Smalpage made the most plays with six.
Perth 12, South Perth 1
Dylan Bojarski hit two home runs and drove in four as Perth defeated South Perth 12-1 on Sunday at Collins Oval D1. Bojarski homered in the second and fourth innings.
Perth won thanks in part to seven runs in the second inning. Luke Gozzi induced Ben Nesbit to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Jalen McGee drew a walk, scoring one, an error scored two runs, and Bojarski homered to center field, scoring three.
South Perth got on board in the first inning after Ronnie Allen Jr hit a solo home run to right field.
Perth added one run in the third when Riley Oliphant hit a sacrifice fly. They scored two more runs in the top of the fourth inning on two hits. Bojarski hit a solo home run to center field, and Boston Foot drew a walk, scoring one run.
Cruze Brendon stepped on the mound first for Perth. The starter surrendered three hits and one run over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Foot pitched two innings of shutout ball in relief, giving up three hits, striking out none and walking none.
Gozzi stepped on the hill first for South Perth. The hurler allowed three hits and 10 runs (five earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking eight.
Perth had patience at the plate, accumulating 12 walks for the game. Jordano Vivona and Foot led the team with three free passes each. The defense turned three double plays and didn’t commit a single error in the field as Bojarski had the most chances with six.
Allen Jr led South Perth with one run batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-2 on the day.
Rockingham Rams 9, Gosnells Hawks 3
Vincent Tarantola was dominant on the mound, as the starter rang up 11 strikeouts in Rockingham’s 9-3 victory over Gosnells Hawks on Sunday at Hourglass Reserve D1. Tarantola gave up eight hits and three runs over eight innings while walking five.
Rams got on board in the bottom of the second inning after David Nichols drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jacques Langford singled, scoring two runs.
Gosnells tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a double by Temauri Lane and a single by Jarrod McKay.
A double by Tyler Hill gave Rockingham the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the fourth.
Jason Armstrong opened the game for Gosnells. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and five runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking three.
Lachlan Cahill threw one inning of shutout ball for Rockingham in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking one.
Rams piled up 12 hits in the game. Hill provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading with three runs batted in as the number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Langford, Jesse Sequeira, Hill, Tarantola, and Jax Williams each collected two hits while Yosuke Fujie took two of the team’s six walks. The defense didn’t commit a single error in the field as Hill had the most chances with 13.
Lane went 1-for-4 at the plate and led Gosnells with two runs batted in. McKay and Louis Scaramella each collected two hits, with the latter taking two of the team’s six walks.
South Perth 4, UWA Magpies 3
Caleb Goodwin drove in four runs on two hits to lead South Perth past UWA Magpies 4-3 on Sunday at Collins Oval D1. Goodwin singled in the first inning, scoring one, and hit a home run to center field in the third inning, scoring three.
After South Perth scored their first time up, Bryan Nobles doubled, which helped UWA Magpies tie the game at one in the top of the second.
A home run to center field by Goodwin gave South Perth the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the third.
Takashi Umino earned the win for South Perth. The starter allowed six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking one. Carlton Branch pitched one inning of zero-run ball in relief, giving up one hit, striking out one and walking one.
Ryan Warner took the loss for UWA Magpies. The hurler went three innings, surrendering four runs on six hits, striking out two and walking three.
Craig Saupold and Goodwin were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for South Perth while hitting back-to-back. Ronnie Allen Jr had two of the team’s seven walks, while the defense didn’t make any errors as Oliver McMahon had the most plays with nine.
Kyle Poapst and Tyson Edwards were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for UWA Magpies. Jaden Babiuk, Poapst, and Nobles each drove in one run. The defense was sure-handed in the field with no errors as Babiuk had the most chances with 10.
Wanneroo Giants 8, Swan Districts Swans 7
Daniel Stephenson collected four hits in five at-bats, as Wanneroo Giants defeated Swan Districts 8-7 on Sunday at Charlie Hodder Field D1. Stephenson singled in the first and third, doubled in the fifth, and singled again in the ninth.
Despite falling down by five runs in the second inning, Swan Districts tried to fight back, closing the gap by scoring on a fielder’s choice, four singles, and a walk.
Giants opened scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Wanneroo first got on the board when Jacob Santich singled, scoring one run. They added two runs in the second after Jake Turnbull doubled to center field.
Frazer Brice began the game for Wanneroo. The starter allowed eight hits and five runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one.
Sean Means stepped on the bump first for Swan Districts. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and six runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking three.
Dylan Bandy tossed three innings of zero-run ball for Wanneroo in relief. The pitcher gave up two hits, striking out four and walking none.
Giants totaled 12 hits in the game, led by Adam Barbarich, who collected three hits in six at-bats. The defense turned one double play in the game.
Swan Districts piled up 11 hits as Brody Clarkson drove the middle of the lineup, leading Swan Districts with three runs batted in. The infielder went 4-for-5 on the day. Michael De Gasperis and Kye Varrone each collected multiple hits, too.
