Harcher State League is on a roll with big wins for Victoria Park Belmont, Wanneroo, Morley, Carine, Perth, and UWA Magpies over the weekend. Morley, Braves, Perth, and Wanneroo make up the top four.

Victoria Park Belmont Reds 11, UWA Magpies 0
Ryusuke Ito was dominant on the mound, as the hurler rang up 12 strikeouts in Victoria Park Belmont’s 11-0 victory over UWA Magpies on Friday at Baseball Park. Ito gave up zero hits and zero runs over five innings while walking one.
Reds scored seven runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory. Kanta Suzuki singled, scoring two runs, Ryan Boyer singled, scoring two runs, Callum Hurrelbrink doubled, scoring one run, and Ito singled, scoring two runs.
Vic Park got on board in the bottom of the second inning after Ito drew a walk, scoring one run, and a wild pitch scored two runs. An error added another run in the third.
Henry Kellen took the loss for UWA Magpies. The pitcher went three and one-third innings, surrendering nine runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking three.
Vic Park piled up 10 hits in the game. Ito led with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 2-for-2 on the day. Boyer also had two hits while the defense turned one double play.
Morley Eagles 8, Carine Cats 5
Morley Eagles took down Carine Cats 8-5 on Saturday at Carine Open Space D1. Morley opened scoring in the top of the first when Nick Ultsch grounded out, scoring two runs.
Carine tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth thanks to two singles. Cats tied the game at three on a single by Thomas Summers. Morley took the lead in the top of the fifth. Ultsch singled, scoring one run, to give them the edge, 4-3.
Cooper McDonnell homered to center field, which helped Carine tie the game at four in the bottom of the fifth. A solo home run to left field by Brendan Heath gave them the lead, 5-4, in the sixth.
Morley regained the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Mitch Graham walked, Ultsch was struck by a pitch, Ben Crook singled up the middle, and Kieren Chapman grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.
Kane Silvi led things off on the hill for Morley. The starter allowed six hits and four runs (two earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Brendan Sing pitched one inning of scoreless ball in relief, giving up zero hits, striking out three and walking two.
Conor Lourey stepped on the bump first for Carine, allowing six hits and five runs over six innings, striking out six and walking four.
Ultsch drove the middle of the lineup, leading Morley with three runs batted in. The left fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Aaron Bonomi and Bodee Wright were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits. Graham led with two walks as the team piled up six in the game. The defense turned one double play.
Summers, the number seven hitter for Carine, led the way with two runs batted in, going 2-for-3 on the day.
Carine Cats 3, Morley Eagles 2
Both teams were strong on the mound on Saturday, but Carine Cats defeated Morley Eagles 3-2. Timothy Holmes started the game for Carine and recorded 15 outs.
Morley got on board in the first inning after Nick Ultsch singled, scoring one run. Cooper McDonnell homered to center field, which helped Carine tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. Cats took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the when Dominik Grzecicha singled, scoring two runs.
Holmes earned the win for Carine. The pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs over five innings, striking out three and walking none. Elliott Giddens collected the save.
Koskei Partington-Hopes took the loss for Morley Eagles. The hurler went three and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on five hits, striking out five and walking two.
Grzecicha drove the middle of the lineup, leading Carine with two runs batted in as the cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. McDonnell, Giddens, Thomas Summers, Kamil Pejchat, and Grzecicha each collected one hit while the defense turned one double play. Cats were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Cameron Brantley had the most chances with seven.
Jeremy Sexton and Ultsch each drove in one run for Morley, with the latter going 2-for-3. Eagles were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Reece Thompson had the most chances with nine.
Perth 11, Rockingham Rams 3
Kaine Newham collected three hits in three at-bats, as Perth defeated Rockingham Rams 11-3 on Saturday at Inglewood Oval D1. Newham singled in the second and doubled in the fourth and fifth innings.
Rams were first to get on the board in the opening frame when an error scored one run. Perth took the lead in the second after Jordano Vivona grounded out, and Newham singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Perth added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Dylan Bojarski grounded out, and Austin Moyle singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Jake White pitched four innings in relief for Perth. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) while striking out two and walking one.
Cruze Brendon started the game for Perth. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking three.
Vincent Tarantola started on the bump for Rockingham, giving up 11 hits and eight runs (seven earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one.
Perth collected 16 hits in the game. Vivona led with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup as the right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Newham, Bojarski, and Spencer Sarringar each collected three hits while White went 2-for-4.
Jesse Sequeira and Tarantola were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Rockingham. Tarantola went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the side in hit as the defense turned one double play.
UWA Magpies 9, Gosnells Hawks 7
Kyle Poapst collected three hits in five at-bats, as UWA Magpies defeated Gosnells Hawks 9-7 on Saturday at McGillivray Oval D1. Poapst hit a home run to right field in the first inning, doubled in the seventh, and singled in the eighth.
Gosnells opened scoring in the first when Louis Scaramella scored after tagging up. UWA Magpies quickly took the lead in the bottom half as Poapst homered to right field, scoring two runs, to give UWA Magpies a 2-1 advantage.
Gosnells made the score 5-2 in the top of the fifth after Scaramella homered to right field, scoring three runs, and Taj Varga singled, scoring one run.
Tyson Edwards homered to right field, which helped UWA Magpies tie the game at five in the bottom of the sixth. Jarrod McKay singled, scoring one run, to give Gosnells Hawks (SL1) the 6-5 lead in the seventh.
UWA Magpies captured the lead, 8-6, in the bottom of the seventh when Henry Kellen singled, scoring two runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.
Poapst earned the win for UWA Magpies. The righty surrendered four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking three.
Takahiro Homma took the loss for Gosnells. The pitcher went three innings, surrendering five runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one.
Chris Crawford started the game for UWA Magpies. The pitcher surrendered six hits and five runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking four.
Jason Armstrong opened the game for Gosnells, giving up four hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking four.
UWA Magpies tallied 10 hits in the game. Poapst and Jaden Babiuk were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits while Edwards went 2-for-4.
Gosnells piled up 10 hits in the game. Robin Adamson, Ryan Smith, and Scaramella each collected two hits, with the latter knocking in three runs. Hawks had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Lee Wisby and Sandon Isle led with two bases on balls each.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 4, Swan Districts Swans 0
Victoria Park Belmont defeated Swan Districts 4-0 on Saturday at Charlie Hodder Field D1 as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Logan Truscott and Cameron Rivers each pitched, with the latter inducing a fly out from Nick Hoyt to get the last out.
A groundout by Ryosei Miyazato put Reds on the board in the top of the sixth.
Truscott started on the bump for Vic Park. The hurler gave up two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking two.
>Sean Means stepped on the bump first for Swan Districts. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out 13 and walking two.
Rivers tossed two innings of zero-run ball for Reds in relief. He gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
Josh Cosgrove, Ben Warrington, and Jack Smalpage each drove in one run for Vic Park. Smalpage led with two hits in four at-bats.
Riley Ozanne and Anthony Daniele each collected one hit for Swan Districts.
Wanneroo Giants 5, South Perth Souths 3
Wanneroo Giants built a 5-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off South Perth’s charge for a 5-3 victory on Saturday. South Perth closed the gap by scoring on a double and a solo home run.
Wanneroo opened scoring in the fourth after Jacob Santich singled, scoring two runs.
South Perth scored one run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to center field by Matthew Lozovoy.
Tom Bailey started the game for Wanneroo. The pitcher surrendered two hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Joshua Rawlinson stepped on the mound first for South Perth. The pitcher allowed eight hits and five runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking one
Callum Schipp pitched one inning of zero-run ball for Wanneroo in relief. The pitcher allowed one hit, striking out two and walking none.
Giants collected 10 hits in the game. Adam Barbarich, Maxim Fullerton, Daniel Stephenson, and Santich each had two hits. Fullerton and Santich were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as both drove in two runs. Nicholas Riley stole two bases with four overall for the team.
Carlton Branch led South Perth with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Number seven hitter, Lozovoy, showed the depth of the lineup by leading with two hits in four at-bats.
