Carine Cats 12, UWA Magpies 10
Cameran Brantley drove in four runs on one hit to lead Carine Cats past UWA Magpies 12-10 on Sunday at McGillivray Oval D1. In the first inning, Brantley homered to right field, scoring three runs.
Bats blistered as Carine collected 11 hits and UWA Magpies tallied 10 in the high-scoring game.
Cats scored five runs on two hits in the top of the second inning. An error scored one run, Elliott Giddens singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Carlos Salas grounded out, scoring one run.
Carine added to their early lead at the top of the third inning after Timothy Holmes singled down the left field line, and Kamil Pejchat walked, each scoring one run.
UWA Magpies scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Michael Albertini drew a walk, scoring one run, Tom Melligan hit a grand slam to right field, and Cooper Tomkinson grounded out, scoring one run.
Giddens earned the win for Carine. The reliever allowed two hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three.
Ryan Warner took the loss for UWA Magpies. The hurler went two innings, allowing 10 runs (five earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking nine.
Meylian Marin opened the game for Carine Cats. The hurler surrendered four hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking four. Conor Lourey collected the save. Holmes appeared in relief.
Carine accumulated 11 hits in the game. Cooper McDonnell, Giddens, Oliver Wilkinson, and Holmes each collected two hits while the whole team had strong eyes at the plate, tallying 10 walks total. Eita Samukawa and Pejchat led with three walks each. McDonnell had three out of five stolen bases.
UWA Magpies collected 10 hits in the game, including two apiece for Tyson Edwards and Tomkinson. Melligan went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Albertini had a team-high three walks with 10 overall as the defense turned one double play.
Braves 7, UWA Magpies 7
Braves and UWA Magpies tied 7-7 on Sunday at McGillivray Oval D1. Braves got on the board in the first inning after Ben Drew grounded out, scoring one run.
UWA Magpies captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first when an error scored two runs, and Joshua Houston singled, scoring one run. They added to their early lead in the second after Riley Spring singled down the right field line, Jaden Babiuk grounded into a fielder’s choice, Cooper Tomkinson grounded out, and Houston was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.
Drew doubled down the right field line, which helped Braves tie the game at seven in the top of the sixth.
Matt Kennelly pitched four innings in relief for Braves, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking none. Starter Alex Oehme surrendered four hits and seven runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking one.
Chris Crawford led things off on the bump for UWA Magpies. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and five runs (four earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out three and walking six.
Drew drove the middle of the lineup, leading Braves with three runs batted in on a 1-for-4 day. Yuto Okamura went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits while overall the lineup took eight walks. Joel Beches and Xavier Olsen had two bases on balls each.Tomkinson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, leading UWA Magpies with three runs batted in. Kyle Poapst and Spring each collected two hits as the defense didn’t commit a single error in the field. Babiuk had the most fielding chances with five.
Morley Eagles 4, Rockingham Rams 1
Morley Eagles defeated Rockingham Rams 4-1 on Sunday at Crimea Park D1. Rams scored in the second after Jax Williams hit an RBI single.
Morley took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third thanks to singles by Mitch Graham and Reece Thompson.
Eagles starter Kane Silvi surrendered five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out six and walking two.
Isaac Keehn started the game for Rockingham, giving up five hits and four runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Graham drove the middle of the lineup, leading Morley with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Aaron Bonomi and Graham each collected two hits while the defense turned three double plays in the game.
Williams led Rockingham with one run batted in on a 1-for-2 day for the center fielder. Joshua Diggins, Williams, Vincent Tarantola, Stuart Sara, and Tyler Hill each collected one with a double play on defense. Rams were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Hill had the most chances with eight.
Morley Eagles 7, Rockingham Rams 5
Morley Eagles took down Rockingham Rams 7-5 on Sunday at Crimea Park D1.
Morley got on board in the bottom of the third inning after two errors and a walk to Reece Thompson, each scoring one run.
Rockingham flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 5-3. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
Morley tied it up at five in the bottom of the fourth thanks to two singles, including Thompson’s RBI single. Ben Crook singled and Matt Dixon walked to extend the lead to 7-5.
Brendan Sing earned the win for Morley, giving up zero hits and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one.
Vincent Tarantola took the loss for Rockingham. The lefty went six innings, surrendering seven runs (five earned) on nine hits, striking out three and walking five.
Lochlan Southee started the game for Morley, allowing two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking four. Koskei Partington-Hopes and Zai Gordon each appeared in relief.
Morley piled up nine hits in the game. Thompson drove the middle of the lineup, leading with two runs batted in as the catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Dixon and Thompson each collected two hits while the defense turned one double play.Tarantola went 1-for-3 at the plate and led Rockingham with one run batted in. Number nine hitter Jacques Langford led with two hits in three at-bats. Lachlan Cahill took two of the team’s six walks.
Perth 5, Wanneroo Giants 3
Perth topped Wanneroo Giants 5-3 on Sunday at Inglewood Oval D1. Perth was first on board in the second when Brayden Moyle singled, scoring one run.
Perth scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to left field by Austin Moyle.
Wanneroo scored one in the top of the ninth on Jacob Santich’s solo home run to left field.
Jake White earned the win for Perth. The hurler gave up two hits and one run over seven innings, striking out three and walking one. Boston Foot and Travis McDonald each appeared in relief.
Frazer Brice took the loss for Wanneroo. The righty went four innings, giving up two runs on five hits, striking out one and walking one.
Perth collected nine hits in the game. Jalen McGee with three runs batted in as the second baseman went 1-for-5 on the day. Dylan Bojarski went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the side in hits while the defense recorded a double play.
Santich, Cooper Barber, Harry Wooden, Chayce Benseman, and Maxim Fullerton each collected one hit for Wanneroo. Santich, Barber, and Fullerton each drove in one run.
Swan Districts 4, South Perth 3
Swan Districts took Sunday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 4-3 walk-off victory over South Perth at Charlie Hodder Field D1. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the eleventh when Anthony Daniele singled, scoring one run.
A walk by Craig Saupold put South Perth on the board in the top of the third.
Swans tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a single by Joshua Dowling and a fly out by Jackson Pollard.
An error gave South Perth a 3-2 lead in the top of the tenth. Nick Hoyt singled to center field following a 7-pitch at-bat, which helped Swans tie the game at three in the bottom of the tenth.
Sean Means led things off on the hill for Swan Districts. The starter surrendered three hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out seven and walking five. Dillan Clarkson appeared in relief.
Takashi Umino began the game for South Perth. The starter gave up seven hits and four runs (one earned) over 10 innings, striking out eight and walking two.
Daniele, Hoyt, and Dowling each drove in one run for Swans. Brody Clarkson collected two hits in three at-bats, plus the defense turned two double plays in the game.
Saupold and Joel Vlasic each drove in one run for South Perth. Vlasic led with three hits in four at-bats, while Ronnie Allen Jr paced the team with two out of six walks. They had a double play on defense, too.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 4, Gosnells Hawks 1
Victoria Park Belmont outlasted Gosnells Hawks 4-1 on Sunday at Tom Bateman Reserve D1. Reds opened scoring in the third after Ryosei Miyazato doubled, scoring one run.
Ryusuke Ito stepped on the bump first for Vic Park. The hurler gave up six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out seven and walking three.
Patrick Frezza led things off on the bump for Gosnells. The hurler allowed six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out four and walking two.
Miyazato went 1-for-3 at the plate and led Reds with two runs batted in. Ryan Boyer and Darcy Clements each collected two hits while Kanta Suzuki had two of the team’s four stolen bases.
Vic Park’s defense turned one double play in the game. They were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Miyazato had the most chances with seven.
Jarrod McKay, Braedan Stannard, Hudson Morawiec, Ryan Smith, Lee Wisby, and Louis Scaramella each collected one hit for Gosnells. Enzel Takuta led with one run batted in.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 4, Gosnells Hawks 3
Victoria Park Belmont topped Gosnells Hawks 4-3 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. Reds were down 3-1 in the top of the seventh inning when Kanta Suzuki homered to center field, scoring three runs.
Gosnells got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Ryan Smith singled down the left field line, and Temauri Lane grounded into a double play, each scoring one run. Hawks added one run in the second after Lee Wisby hit a sacrifice fly.
Reds starter Logan Truscott gave up two hits and three runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking three.
Jason Armstrong opened the game for Gosnells. The starter surrendered one hit and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking five.
Andrew Hurrelbrink pitched three innings in relief for Vic Park. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs while striking out two and walking one.
Suzuki led Reds with two hits in four at-bats from the leadoff position. They had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game with two apiece for Ben Warrington and Jack Smalpage. The defense turned two double plays. Louis Scaramella led Gosnells with two hits in four at-bats. Smith and Wisby each drove in one run as the entire lineup had patience at the plate, totalling seven walks for the game. Braedan Stannard and Hudson Morawiec led with two bases on balls each.
Hawks were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Stannard had the most fielding chances with seven.
