WA Secure Finals Spots Across Both Championships on Day 4
Western Australia delivered a standout Day 4 at the 2026 Australian Women’s Championship (AWC) and Australian Youth Women’s Championship (AYWC), with both teams securing finals berths.
The Youth Women remained unbeaten, while the Women’s team qualified in third place with a third consecutive win.
Youth Women: WA Def. New South Wales 7–4
Western Australia’s Youth Women’s team continued their unbeaten run, defeating New South Wales 7–4 to improve to 3–0 and secure a place in the finals.
After trailing early, WA fought back to level the game in the third through Isla Kalebic and Summer Hiscock, before NSW regained the lead in the fourth.
WA responded in the fifth, with Sara Scott launching a solo home run, followed by RBIs from Hiscock and Jamie Vlasic to take control of the game. Two more runs in the sixth secured the result.
Jemma Golding set the tone early on the mound, while Stevie Oates closed things out to earn the save.
At the plate, Vlasic led with two hits, while Scott, Kalebic and Hiscock each contributed key RBI in the comeback effort.
WA now sits 3–0 heading into the final game of pool play.
Manager, Gus Golding, said the group’s consistency and team-first mindset had been key to their unbeaten start.
“While we’ve been challenged at times, this group has remained focused and risen to every occasion… though we are under no illusions about the challenges ahead.
I’m incredibly proud of how the group has carried themselves. From day one, our mantra has been about playing your role and being a great teammate. Seeing the girls truly buy into that selfless approach has been the highlight of the week so far.”
Off the field, the group also had the opportunity to hear from experienced voices in the game, with Emeralds representatives Jason Pospishil, Claire O’Sullivan, Maddi Erwin, and Ticara Geldenhuis sharing insights into the elite pathway.
“The insights they shared regarding preparation, resilience, and mindset were invaluable – advice the girls can immediately integrate into their own routines as we shift our focus toward the business end of the tournament.
The job isn’t finished yet, but the foundation is set. I’m excited to see what this group can achieve!”

Women: WA Def. South Australia 16–11
Western Australia’s Women’s team secured their place in the finals with a high-scoring 16–11 win over South Australia, making it three consecutive victories.
After falling behind early, WA’s offence took control through the middle innings, scoring six runs in the fourth and seven more in the fifth to break the game open.
Elodie O’Sullivan, Chloe Atkinson and Aislinn Morris each collected three hits, leading a 15-hit performance from WA. Contributions came right through the lineup, with Caitlin Eynon, Leah Cornish and Meaghan Haggart also recording multiple hits.
“We know we can hit, so we were trying to get pitches we can drive,” said O’Sullivan.
WA used multiple pitchers to navigate the contest, with Ava Tyson starting before Haggart, Miane van Splunder and Briah Burke combined in relief.
The result sees Western Australia finish the regular phase 3–2, securing third place and a spot in the finals.
