Game 1: In Walk-Off, Western Tigers Orange Lose To Eastern Phantoms
JL – Western Tigers Orange (A) fell to JL – Eastern Phantoms (B) 5-4 on Friday at Diamond 1 – NQ1: 1st Pool A v 2nd Pool B on the final play of the game. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh when Warner singled, scoring one run. JL – Western Tigers Orange (A) got on the board in the top of the first inning after Howarth doubled, and Vlasic singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. JL – Eastern Phantoms (B) captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the third after Kingma hit into a fielder’s choice, and JL – Western Tigers Orange (A) committed an error, each scoring one run. Gloriod singled down the left field line on an 0-2 count, which helped JL – Western Tigers Orange (A) tie the game at three in the top of the fifth. A double by Gardiner gave JL – Eastern Phantoms (B) the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fifth.
Vlasic flew out, which helped JL – Western Tigers Orange (A) tie the game at four in the top of the seventh. Humble opened the game for JL – Western Tigers Orange (A). The hurler gave up six hits and four runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking none. Malcolm led things off on the mound for JL – Eastern Phantoms (B). The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and three runs (one earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Game 3: Southern Titans Lose To Western Tigers White
JL – Southern Titans (B) could not keep up with JL – Western Tigers White (A) 9-7 on Friday at Diamond 1 – CG1: 3rd Pool A v 3rd Pool B.
JL – Southern Titans (B) got on the board in the top of the second inning after JL – Western Tigers White (A) committed an error, and Curtis Wainohu singled to right field, each scoring one run. JL – Western Tigers White (A) made the score 3-2 in the bottom of the third after Wardle doubled, scoring two runs, and Gay singled, scoring one run. In the top of the fifth inning, JL – Southern Titans (B) went back into the lead after Curtis-Wainohu walked, JL – Western Tigers White (A) committed an error, Johnston singled to center field, and Anderson walked, each scoring one run. JL – Western Tigers White (A) flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on one hit to take the lead, 9-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Allen that drove in two. Baldwin stepped on the hill first for JL – Southern Titans (B). The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and five runs over five innings, striking out two and walking four. Wilson opened the game for JL – Western Tigers White (A). The righty allowed two hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking four. Johnston, Leitch, Treloar, Anderson, and Curtis-Wainohu each collected one hit for JL – Southern Titans (B). Johnston, Baldwin, Anderson, Curtis-Wainohu, and Ryan each drove in one run for JL – Southern Titans (B). Ryan led JL – Southern Titans (B) with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game. Treloar, Anderson, and Curtis-Wainohu each stole multiple bases for JL – Southern Titans (B).
