Braves are off to a hot start in the big dance, winning 12-2 over Wanneroo in Game 1 of the Harcher State League Grand Final Series at Empire Ballpark.

Braves 12, Wanneroo Giants 2
Braves jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a 2-RBI single by Sam Kennelly. Joel Beches and Kennelly made it 6-0 with a pair of doubles in the second inning.
Byron Armstrong’s 2-RBI double made it 6-2 in the third, although Braves responded with a bases-loaded single and a walk.
The score remained 8-2 until the top of the eighth, when Tim Kennelly homered on a fly ball to left field, scoring three.
A final flurry of offense saw the Braves walk away 12-2 winners, out-hitting Wanneroo 10 hits to eight.
Kennelly, Beches, and Kerr had multiple hits for Braves as Tucker Smith got the win on the mound, throwing seven innings with six hits and two runs allowed. He walked three and struck out eight. Todd Hatcher appeared in relief, throwing two scoreless innings with two hits.
Nicholas Riley, Courtney Jones, Owen Pilcher, and Byron Armstrong had two hits each for Wanneroo, with Armstrong knocking in two runs. A combination of six pitchers struck out eight Braves batters.
