Harcher State League is back in 2024! Braves, Wanneroo, Swan Districts, Vic Park Belmont, Morley and Rockingham picked up wins in the first week back.

Braves 1, Victoria Park Belmont Reds 0
Both teams were strong on the bump on Sunday, but Braves defeated Victoria Park Belmont 1-0. Matt Kennelly started the game for Braves and recorded 18 outs.
Braves were first to get on the board in the fourth when an error scored one run.
Kennelly earned the win for Braves. The righty gave up one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Mizuki Akatsuka took the loss for Vic Park, covering six innings with one run allowed on one hit, striking out five and walking none.
Tucker Smith threw one inning of shutout ball for Braves, allowing zero hits, striking out two and walking none.
James Smibert led Braves with one hit in three at-bats. Kevin Clark had one run batted in as the defense was sure-handed in the field with no errors. Cody Parkinson made the most plays with 11.
Sean Garratt led Vic Park Belmont with one hit in three at-bats. The defense turned two double plays in the game.
Victoria Park Belmont Reds 5, Braves 4
Braves fell 5-4 to Vic Park on Sunday at Frankland Park despite out-hitting them 11 to six. Reds doubled in the sixth inning to put the game just out of reach.
Vic Park Belmont got on the board first when Eddie Satisky hit into a double play, but one run scored.
In the bottom of the third, Braves went back into the lead after Jack Rigden hit a sacrifice fly and James Smibert singled, each scoring one run.
Reds took the lead in the top of the sixth when Satisky singled, scoring one run, and Scott Combs doubled, scoring three runs.
Curtis Bacon started on the bump for Victoria for Vic Park Belmont. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and two runs over four innings, striking out two and walking none. Mathew Martin appeared in relief.
Daniel Schmidt started on the mound for Braves. The left-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking none.
Sean Garratt led Reds with two hits in four at-bats from the leadoff position. Combs had three RBIs in the number seven spot as the catcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Reds also turned one double play.
Braves tallied 11 hits in the game. Number eight hitter Geoff Kerr showed the depth of the lineup, going 3-for-3 as Rigden, Smibert, Josh Kennelly, and Matt Kennelly each drove in a run.
Joel Beches collected two hits in four at-bats as Smibert stole two bases. Braves turned two double plays.
Vic Park plays UWA Magpies at home on Sunday for their next game while Braves head to Wanneroo.
Carine Cats 7, Morley Eagles 7
Carine and Morley drew 7-7 in Sunday’s first game at Carine Regional Open Space. Cats were first on the board with an RBI double by Cas Silber.
Morley flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 5-1 lead. Matt Dixon hit a 2-RBI single.
Carine tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a double by Tarrant Reimers and singles by Josh Molen and Bailey Moorfield.
Conor Lourey pitched four and two-thirds innings in relief for Carine, giving up six hits and two runs while striking out five and walking two.
Ethan Campbell started on the hill for Carine, allowing zero hits and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking three.
Troy Cruz started on the hill for Morley. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out six and walking two.
Carine collected nine hits in the game. Silber went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Carine in hits while Josh Davies and Moorfield each drove in two runs.
Cats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Carlos Salas had the most chances with five.
Dixon and Brandon Migro each collected two hits for Morley. Dixon and Sam Abbott each drove in two runs as the defense was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Reece Thompson had the most chances in the field with seven.
Morley Eagles 9, Carine Cats 8
Morley snatched the lead late in their 9-8 victory over Carine Cats on Sunday. The game was tied at eight in the top of the seventh when George Calverley tripled, scoring one run.
Morley came back to win despite trailing 4-0 in the third. Carine got on the board in the first inning after Josh Molen singled, scoring two runs. Cats added two more on Molen’s double in the third.
Eagles scored five runs on five hits to take a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth. The biggest blow in the inning was an RBI double by Mitch Power.
Carine retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Cooper Granland singled, scoring one run, Bailey Moorfield doubled, scoring another, and Cas Silber doubled to bring home two.
Morley took the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Aaron Bonomi hit a sacrifice fly, Matt Dixon doubled, and Calverley tripled, each scoring one run.
Brendan Sing pitched four innings in relief for Morley, giving up four hits and one run while striking out four and walking none.
Lachlan Waite stepped on the hill first, with the Morley starter allowing eight hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out four and walking one.
Tarrant Reimers pitched for Carine, giving up eight hits and six runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking four.
Morley piled up 11 hits in the game. Power went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Morley in hits while Dixon, Calverley, and Bonomi each drove in two runs.
Troy Cruz paced Morley with three of the team’s seven walks as the defense turned one double play in the game.
Carine tallied 12 hits, with Molen going 3-for-4 and Silber and Moorfield joining him with multiple hits. Samuel Gooch stole two bases as Cats turned one double play.
Morley has the week off before playing Rockingham on Sunday 21 January. Carine heads to Swan Districts next.
Rockingham Rams 12, UWA Magpies 10
Both Rockingham Rams and UWA Magpies had their offenses going on Sunday at Hourglass Reserve, but Rams eventually prevailed 12-10.
Rockingham collected 10 hits while UWA Magpies had 15. Rams came back to win despite trailing 4-0 in the first.
UWA Magpies got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jacob Davila doubled and Joris Van Ballegooy grounded out, each scoring two runs.
Rockingham tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a hit by a pitch and singles by Jesse Neretlis and Jax Williams.
UWA Magpies made the score 8-4 in the top of the second after Bass Cooper grounded out, scoring one run, Davila doubled, scoring two runs, and Van Ballegooy singled, scoring one run.
Rockingham flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits to take an 11-8 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Ashton Crouch that drove in two.
Lachlan Cahill earned the win for Rockingham. The reliever allowed five hits and one run over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking three.
Matthew Reyes took the loss for UWA Magpies. The reliever went three and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking one.
Brock Molloy led things off on the bump for Rockingham. The starting pitcher allowed seven hits and eight runs (seven earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking three. Vinnie Tarantola pitched in relief.
Rockingham tallied 10 hits in the game. Number seven hitter Williams led with three hits in four at-bats. Crouch, Tarantola, and Tomas Swinson each drove in two runs.
Jesse Sequeira led Rams with three of their 10 walks while the defense turned one double play.
UWA Magpies accumulated 15 hits in the game. Riley Spring went 4-for-6 in the leadoff position and Davila drove the middle of the lineup with 4 RBIs. The first baseman went 2-for-5 on the day.
Reyes, Michael Albertini, and Van Ballegooy each collected multiple hits for UWA Magpies. Reyes took three of the team’s seven walks and stole multiple bases along with Spring as the Magpies had five SBs total. Magpies also turned one double play.
Rockingham heads to South Perth this Sunday and UWA Magpies visit Victoria Park Belmont.
Wanneroo Giants 16, South Perth Souths 3
Dawson Summers drove in four runs on three hits to lead Wanneroo past South Perth 16-3 on Sunday at Collins Oval. Summers hit an RBI single in the fourth and a three-run homer in the ninth.
A double by Jai Hewitt put South Perth on the board in the bottom of the second.
Summers singled, helping Wanneroo tie the game at one in the top of the fourth. Giants went on to score five runs on four hits to take a 6-1 lead in the top of the sixth. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Daniel Bourke that drove in three.
Wanneroo scored six more runs on three hits in the top of the ninth. Jacob Santich drew a walk, scoring one run and Courtney Jones hit a sacrifice fly, scoring another before Summers’ big three-run home run.
Jacob Myer started the game for Wanneroo and gave up three hits and a run over four innings with six strikeouts and a walk.
Caleb Goodwin opened the game for South Perth, giving up two hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking four.
Frazer Brice pitched four scoreless innings for Wanneroo as the reliever struck out three and walked one with no hits allowed.
Wanneroo accumulated 12 hits in the game. Ethan Cooper and Owen Pilcher each collected multiple hits. Ben King paced the team with three walks as the Giants took 12 walks total.
The winning defense turned one double play in the game.
Aam Barbarich went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead South Perth in hits. Lyndan Morgan, Hewitt, and Goodwin each drove in a run for South Perth as they turned a double play in the game.
Wanneroo hosts Braves this Sunday and South Perth visits Rockingham.
Swan Districts Swans 7, Gosnells Hawks 3
Swan Districts Swans were triumphant over Gosnells Hawks 7-3 on Sunday at Tom Bateman Sporting Complex Reserve.
Swans got on the board in the first after Michael De Gasperis doubled, scoring one run.
Gosnells got the lead back in the bottom of the first after Robin Adamson hit an RBI double and a wild pitch scored another run.
In the top of the third inning, Swans went back in the lead after De Gasperis homered to right field and Gosnells made an error, each scoring a run.
Rodney Tennie walked, helping Gosnells tie the game at three in the bottom of the third.
Swans took the lead in the top of the fourth as Riley Ozanne grounded out, scoring one run for a 4-3 advantage.
Dillian Clarkson earned the win for Swans, allowing five hits over five scoreless innings with two strikeouts and no walks.
Jack Burt took the loss for Gosnells. The relieve went four innings, giving up one run on three hits, striking out two and walking one.
Cameron Liss started for Swan Districts. He gave up two hits and three runs over four innings, striking out five and walking six.
Sam Forrest opened the game for Gosnells. They gave up two hits and three runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking five.
De Gasperis went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Swans in hits. Ozanne, Josh Dowling, De Gasperis, and Boston Foot each drove in one run.
Foot led the team with three out of 11 walks while Cameron Phelts stole five bases. Swans ran wild on the base paths, piling up seven total while the defense turned a solid double play.
Swan Districts didn’t commit a single error in the field as Dan Carter had the most chances with eight.
Riley Hall, Gosnells number seven hitter, led the team with two hits in four at-bats. Adamson went 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.
Gosnells had six walks with two apiece by Lee Wisby and Tennie, who also had two of the team’s five stolen bases. Hawks turned one double play in the game.
Swan Districts welcome Carine on Sunday for their next game and Gosnells go to Perth.
