Wanneroo Giants 10, Gosnells Hawks 0
Jacob Santich drove in four runs on two hits to lead Wanneroo Giants past Gosnells Hawks 10-0 on Friday at Empire Ballpark. Santich doubled in the first inning to score a run and hit a 3-RBI triple in the fourth.
Wanneroo got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Ben King hit a sacrifice fly, Courtney Jones grounded out, Santich doubled, Daniel Stephenson singled, and Daniel Bourke singled, each scoring one run.
Frazer Brice earned the win for Wanneroo. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and one-third innings with one walk. Callum Schipp appeared in relief.
Jacob Myer started the game for Wanneroo, giving up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking four.
Jack Burt started on the mound for Gosnells, allowing seven hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out one and walking five.
Wanneroo collected nine hits in the game, including two apiece for Byron Armstrong and Santich. The Giants also practiced patience at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game with two walks for Ethan Cooper, Nicholas Riley, Drake Angeron, and Jones.
Robin Adamson and Rodney Tennie each collected one hit for Gosnells as the team took six walks.
Both sides turned one double play in the game. Gosnells didn’t commit a single error as Jarrod McKay made the most plays with three.
Swan Districts 8, Carine Cats 3
Swan Districts Swans beat Carine Cats 8-3 on Saturday, despite the Cats opening up the scoring in the third on a 2-RBI double by Josh Davies.
The Swans flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring seven runs on six hits to take an 8-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Riley Ozanne after a 7-pitch at-bat that drove in two.
Dillian Clarkson opened the game for Swan Districts. The left-handed pitcher gave up six hits and three runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking two.
Conor Lourey started the game for Carine, allowing four hits and three runs over five innings with two walks and three strikeouts.
Boston Foot pitched one and one-third innings of shutout ball for the Swans, giving up just one hit and a walk with a strikeout.
The Swans accumulated nine hits in the game, including two apiece for Ozanne and Anthony Daniele. Michael De Gasperis led the team with two runs batted in.
Davies, Cas Silber, and Aden Browne had two hits each for Carine. Davies had two RBIs.
Swan Districts 7, UWA Magpies 3
Brody Clarkson collected three hits in four at-bats as Swan Districts Swans defeated UWA Magpies 7-3 on Sunday at Charlie Hodder Baseball Field. Clarkson singled in the second, fourth, and eighth innings.
Cameron Liss struck out 10 batters on the day. The starting pitcher also allowed three hits and two runs over five innings while walking three.
UWA Magpies were the first to get on the board when Eita Samukawa grounded out, scoring one run in the opening frame.
Anthony Daniele hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Swans tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. They pulled ahead in the second when Riley Ozanne drew a bases-loaded walk to score a run. A sacrifice fly by Dan Carter extended the lead to 3-1.
Chris Crawford stepped on the mound first for UWA Magpies. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and four runs over three and one-third innings, striking out none and walking three. Boston Foot appeared in relief for Swan Districts Swans.
The Swans amassed 11 hits in the game. Josh Dowling, Carter, Michael De Gasperis, Daniele, and Cameron Phelts each drove in a run while the team didn’t make any fielding errors. Maverick Hamilton had the most chances with 12.
Bass Cooper went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead UWA Magpies in hits. Joshua Houston, Jake Wilson, and Samukawa picked up RBIs.
UWA Magpies play Braves at home on Saturday while Swan Districts have a doubleheader vs. Perth on Sunday at home.
Victoria Park Belmont 11, Carine Cats 1
Sean Garratt hit two home runs and drove in three as Victoria Park Belmont defeated Carine Cats 11-1 on Sunday at Forster Park. Garratt hit a solo homer in the first and a two-run blast in the seventh.
Curtis Bacon’s RBI single made it a 2-0 ballgame in the bottom of the second before the Reds added another ruin the third on Edwin Satisky’s sacrifice fly.
The Reds racked up six runs in the fifth as Taiyo Kurosawa homered to left field, scoring two runs, Ryan Boyer hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Mathew Martin homered to centre field, scoring three runs.
Carine scored one run in the top of the seventh with Tarrant Reimers’ home run on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.
Mizuki Akatsuka earned the win for Vic Park Belmont. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking one. Martin appeared in relief.
Jordan Power took the loss for Carine, going four innings with three runs on seven hits and four strikeouts.
The Reds collected 15 hits in the game, with multiple hits for Kurosawa, Satisky, Boyer, and Bacon. Josh Paull stole two bases while the Reds were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit any errors. Bacon had the most chances with 12.
Cas Silber went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Carine in hits. Reimers went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Josh Davies made had six fielding chances in an error-free game for the Cats.
Vic Park Belmont hosts Wanneroo in a doubleheader this Sunday while Carine visits UWA Magpies.
Perth 10, South Perth Souths 7
Ronnie Sweeny drove in four runs on three hits to lead Perth past South Perth 10-7 on Sunday at Collins Oval. Sweeny hit a grand slam to left field in the seventh inning.
Perth got on the board in the top of the second after South Perth made an error, followed by a Jalen McGee RBI single.
Perth added five more runs in the top of the seventh inning on three hits. Devon Ramirez-Beaver singled, scoring a run before Sweeny’s grand slam.
Brian (Tanner) Jessen-Dalton struck out 11 batters on the day, allowing five hits, four runs, and zero walks over five and one-third innings. Ramirez-Beaver appeared in relief for Perth.
Warwick Saupold stepped on the hill for South Perth. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking none.
Perth tallied 13 hits in the game as McGee went 4-for-5. Ramirez-Beaver and Edgar Mundarain had multiple hits as well.
South Perth recorded nine hits, led by Jake Bowey’s 3-for-5 performance. Adam Barbarich drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Souths with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 2-for-4 on the day.
Perth hosts Swan Districts for a doubleheader this Sunday while South Perth visits Rockingham on Friday and UWA Magpies on Sunday.
Braves 6, Morley Eagles 1
Braves were victorious against Morley 6-1 on Sunday at Crimea Park. They got on the board in the top of the first after James Smibert tripled, scoring two runs, and Cody Parkinson grounded out to score another.
Braves added one run on a Jack Rigden double in the third, making the score 4-1.
Campbell Froude opened the game for Braves, giving up four hits and one run over six innings, striking out one and walking three.
Adam Millson started the game for Morley, allowing three hits and four runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking one.
Todd Hatcher pitched three innings of no-run ball for Braves in relief, with no hits or walks, just five strikeouts.
Rigden and Joel Beches each collected two hits for Braves. Smibert drove the middle of the lineup with two runs batted in.
The winning side turned one double play in the game.
Sam Abbott led Morley with two hits in four at-bats while Kieran Chapman had one run batted in.
Next up for Braves is a game at UWA Magpies on Saturday, while Morley hosts Gosnells on Sunday.
Rockingham Rams 5, Gosnells Hawks 4
Rockingham Rams snatched the lead late in their 5-4 victory over Gosnells Hawks on Sunday. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh when Ashton Crouch drew a walk, scoring one run.
Gosnells jumped out to the lead in the top of the third inning after an error scored two runs and Robin Adamson hit an RBI double.
A bases-loaded walk by Joshua Diggins helped Rockingham tie the game at four in the bottom of the sixth.
Vinnie Tarantola earned the win for Rockingham. The lefty allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Maclin Berry took the loss for Gosnells. The right-handed pitcher went one-third of an inning, allowing one run on zero hits, striking out one and walking three.
Brock Molloy led things off on the bump for Rockingham. The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and four runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out one and walking two.
Riley Hall led things off on the mound for Gosnells, allowing no hits or runs over three innings with two walks and two strikeouts.
Crouch and Jax Williams collected two hits and joined Diggins with one RBI for Rockingham. The Rams were strong at the plate, tallying 10 walks including two apiece for Jeff Wishart and Tarantola. Rockingham turned one double play in the game.
Gosnells had nine hits, led by Rodney Tennie with three hits in five at-bats. Adamson and Calvin picked up RBIs as the defense turned one double play.
Rockingham has a busy weekend ahead, playing South Perth on Friday night before a visit to Braves on Sunday. Gosnells heads to Morley on Sunday.
