Harcher State League is moving full steam ahead with another big weekend of baseball in the books, featuring wins for Swan Districts, Rockingham, Perth, Morley, Wanneroo, and Braves. Wanneroo, Braves, Morley, Perth, and Vic Park Belmont make up the top five after eight weeks of play.

Cameron Liss struck out 15 batters as the righty led Swan Districts past Carine Cats 7-0 on Friday at Empire Ballpark. Liss gave up three hits and zero runs over six innings while walking three.Swan Districts won thanks in part to five runs in the third inning. Michael De Gasperis singled, scoring two runs, Boston Foot singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two more.Declan Phillips started on the bump for Carine. He allowed four hits and five runs (two earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking two.
Riley Ozanne, Dan Carter, De Gasperis, Foot, and Cameron Phelts each collected one hit for Swan Districts. De Gasperis and Phelts were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, each driving in two runs.
Swans worked the count all day, amassing six walks while the defense didn’t make any errors. Carter had the most chances in the field with 15.
Kylan Granland, Josh Molen, and Cooper Granland led Carine’s offense with one hit each.
Braves 3, Rockingham Rams 3
Braves and Rockingham Rams tied 3-3 on Friday at Empire Ballpark.
A double by Kevin Clark put Braves on the board in the bottom of the third.
Rockingham tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a groundout by Vinnie Tarantola and a triple by Jesse Sequeira.
Rams took the lead in the top of the eighth as David Nichols hit a sacrifice fly, scoring a run for the edge, 3-2.
Tucker Smith hit a sacrifice fly, helping Braves tie the game at three in the bottom of the eighth.
Daniel Schmidt started on the hill for Braves. The southpaw surrendered seven hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Tarantola started the game for Rockingham. The left-handed pitcher allowed seven hits and two runs over eight innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Jack Rigden and Cody Parkinson each collected two hits for Braves. Smith, Clark, and Joel Beches each drove in one run while the defense was sure handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Parkinson had the most chances with 12.
Joshua Diggins and Sequeira each collected two hits for Rockingham. Tarantola, Nichols, and Sequeira drove in one run each. There were no errors in the field as Jake Sheppard had the most chances with nine.
Braves 6, Swan Districts Swans 1
Joel Beches collected three hits in five at-bats as Braves defeated Swan Districts Swans 6-1 on Sunday at Frankland Park. Beches hit singles in the first, second, and sixth innings.
Braves opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on two singles, with Kevin Clark bringing home the first run.
Braves added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Beches singled, Clark walked, and Matt Kennelly hit into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.
Kennelly stepped on the bump first for Braves. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking five. Campbell Froude pitched in relief.
Dillian Clarkson led things off on the mound for Swan Districts. He gave up nine hits and five runs over six innings, striking out three and walking three.
Braves tallied nine hits in the game as Kennelly drove the middle of the lineup with 2 RBIs on a 1-for-3 day. Jack Rigden and Beches had multiple stolen bases as the Braves successfully stole seven, while the defense turned a double play.
Andrew Cromwell, Maverick Hamilton, and Boston Foot each collected one hit for Swan Districts. Hamilton went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Cameron Phelts took two of the team’s six walks and stole two bases.
Next up for Braves is a game against UWA Magpies on Sunday while Swan Districts heads to Morley.
Rockingham Rams 9, Carine Cats 6
Rockingham Rams outlasted Carine Cats 9-6 on Sunday at Hourglass Reserve.
A single by Tarrant Reimers put Carine Cats on the board in the top of the first.
Rockingham took the lead in the bottom half as David Nichols singled for 2 RBIs. The Rams extended their 2-1 lead with four runs in the bottom of the third on RBI singles by Vinnie Tarantola and Tomas Swinson.
Brock Molloy earned the win for Rockingham, giving up 12 hits and six runs (three earned) over eight innings with four strikeouts and two walks.
Reimers started on the hill for Carine. He gave up 10 hits and six runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Tarantola pitched one inning of no-run ball for Rockingham in relief. The southpaw gave up zero hits, striking out three and walking none.
Rockingham tallied 15 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Darryl Artis went 4-for-4 while Tarantola and Swinson had 2 RBIs apiece. Joshua Diggins, Nichols, Lachlan Cahill, and Jesse Neretlis also collected multiple hits.
Rockingham turned two double plays in the game.
Carine amassed 12 hits with three apiece for Cooper McDonnell and Cas Silber. Reimers drove the middle of the lineup, leading the team with 2 RBIs on a 1-for-3 day. Tom Hartley collected two hits in four at-bats as the defense turned one double play.
Rockingham heads to Wanneroo on Sunday and Carine hosts Perth.
Morley Eagles 1, South Perth 0
Both teams were strong on the mound on Sunday, but Morley came away winners 1-0. Lachlan Waite started the game and recorded 16 outs.
Morley opened the scoring in the third after one run scored on a balk.
Waite earned the win for Morley. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and zero runs over five and one-third innings, striking out four and walking one. Brendan Sing tossed one and two-thirds innings of no-run ball in relief, allowing one hit with a strikeout and no walks.
Simon Baumer opened the game for South Perth. He allowed four hits and one run over six innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Cody Holt, Brandon Migro, Matt Dixon, and Reece Thompson each collected one hit for Morley. Aaron Bonomi stole two bases while the defense turned one double play.
Brett Walters went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead South Perth in hits. Souths didn’t commit a single error in the field as Lyndan Morgan had the most chances with seven.
Morley Eagles 2, South Perth 1
The second game of the doubleheader also went Morley’s way off the back of Kane Silvi’s strong start to record 12 outs and only give up one run.
Morley didn’t take the lead until later in the game. It was tied at one in the bottom of the sixth when Reece Thompson drew a walk, scoring a run.
South Perth opened scoring in the first after one run scored on a balk.
Morley regained the lead in the sixth after Aaron Bonomi singled and Thompson walked, each scoring one run.
Koskei Partington-Hopes earned the win for Morley. The reliever allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking none. Riley Franklin also tossed one inning in relief with no hits or walks and one strikeout.
Caleb Goodwin took the loss for South Perth after throwing five and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out seven and walking seven.
Silvi started on the hill for Morley, giving up three hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
Bonomi and George Calverley each collected one hit for Morley, while Thompson and Bonomi drove in one run apiece.
Morley had patience at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game with two apiece for Cody Holt, Bonomi, and Sam Abbott.
Eagles turned one double play in the game and didn’t commit any errors as Abbott had the most fielding chances with 11.
Brett Walters, Cameron Landy, and Jaxon Limpus each collected one hit for South Perth. The Souths were sure handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error as Walters had the most plays with eight.
Morley will look to make it three in a row next Sunday at Swan Districts while South Perth hosts Vic Park Belmont.
Perth 9, UWA Magpies 2
Brian (Tanner) Jessen-Dalton was dominant on the mound as Perth’s starting pitcher, striking out 11 in a 9-2 victory over UWA Magpies on Sunday at Inglewood Oval. He allowed three hits and two runs over six innings while walking two.
Perth opened the scoring in the first after Jesse Barron drew a walk, scoring one run. Perth added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Jordano Vivona laid down a sacrifice bunt and Devon Ramirez-Beaver hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Chris Crawford took the loss for UWA Magpies. They went two innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking one.
Perth tallied 11 hits in the game. Ramirez-Beaver, Ronald (Ronnie) Sweeny, and Josh McGee each collected two hits. Ramirez-Beaver and Vivona had 2 RBIs while McGee stole two bases.
Perth didn’t commit a single error in the field as Edgar Mundarain had the most chances with 11.
Joshua Houston, Jake Willson, and Jacob Davila each collected one hit for UWA Magpies. Houston and William Eastman each drove in one run.
Perth 12, UWA Magpies 2
Peter Reyes drove in four runs on one hit to lead Perth past UWA Magpies 12-2 in the second game of Sunday’s doubleheader. Reyes homered to left field in the fifth inning, scoring three runs.
Perth got on the board in the bottom of the first after Edgar Mundarain singled, Josh McGee walked, Kaine Newham was struck by a pitch, and Reyes grounded out. They also scored on a wild pitch.
A steal of home by McGee extended the Perth lead to 6-2 in the bottom of the third inning.
Jake White earned the win for Perth. He gave up fie hits and two runs over six innings, striking out five and walking three.
Nick Alexiou took the loss for UWA Magpies. The starting pitcher went one inning, giving up five runs on two hits, striking out one and walking three.
Perth accumulated nine hits in the game. Devon Ramirez-Beaver went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
Newham and McGee each stole multiple bases for Perth as the team had six total. Perth didn’t make any errors with Jesse Barron leading the way in the field on six chances.
Joshua Houston provided pop in the middle of the lineup for UWA Magpies, leading the side with 2 RBIs. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day.
Bass Cooper, Riley Spring, Houston, William Eastman, and Joris Van Ballegooy each collected one hit for Magpies.
Next up for Perth is a game at Carine Cats on Sunday while UWA Magpies take on Braves.
Wanneroo Giants 14, Gosnells Hawks 4
Ben King showed a strong eye at the plate on Sunday, taking three walks as Wanneroo beat Gosnells 14-4.
Wanneroo opened the scoring in the top of the first when Courtney Jones singled, driving in a run.
Giants extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to Nicholas Riley and Jones. A single by Owen Pilcher brought Wanneroo’s lead to 5-1 in the top of the third.
Giants starter Jacob Myer allowed three hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking three.
Gosnells starter Riley Hall gave up four hits and four runs (two earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking two.
Rob Sorensen tossed two innings of shutout ball for Wanneroo in relief. He gave up one hit, striking out two and walking none.
Wanneroo piled up 14 hits in the game, with Pilcher going 4-for-6. Dawson Summers picked up 3 RBIs on a 2-for-4 day while Jones, King, and Drake Angeron each collected multiple hits.
King took three of Wanneroo’s 12 walks and Angeron had two of five stolen bases. The defense turned one double play in the game.
Calvin Butler led Gosnells with three hits in three at-bats. Jarrod McKay, Luke Houston, and Hall each drove in one run.
Wanneroo hosts Rockingham this Sunday and Gosnells plays Perth on Wednesday 29 November.
