All the hard work and excitement came to a crescendo as our U/15’s came u against the might of the USA in our first outing of the Pony Girls World Series.
After ‘unusual’ pre game lead up and many language Barriers crossed we worked we’d be the away team and batting first. The USA looked a polished outfit and nerves were evident in our first inning with the bat. However, when it was our turn in the field the nerves were soon put behind us as Taylor Bell lead the way on the mound with a 7 pitch innings. We were in this to our eyeballs.
The score was locked at 0-0 through 2.5 innings where the USA found some luck and got runners on base which they converted. We had our own rally in the top of the 4th getting runners on base with Ariana and Jemma recording hits. 6-2.and full of hope.
Ariana, Tayla and Cynthia rolled through and did a great job on the mound but in the end the US team converted their opportunity and closed the game 12-2.
Overall we showed we could for long periods of the game. Marking great plays in the field and having awesome opportunity to learn in the box.
On to China tomorrow with a hunger for the challenge.
