Baseball WA selects a U16 and U18 State Team to compete in the National Youth Championships. This is part of the Talented Pathways whereby players’ tryout for their age-relevant team and those selected will compete against other states in a national tournament hosted by a state during school holidays (normally in January).
Athletes selected in a state team will be provided with the following;
- On-field training component designed to prepare them for the NYC tournament that includes; fundamental skills, base-running, game play, culture, strength and conditioning.
- Opportunities to be seen by scouts, college recruitments and national team staff. Opportunities for selected athletes may lead to national team camps and world championship teams depending on the year and events pertaining to age groups.
- Alignment to Perth Heat and national team pathways.
- Players who show the relevant tools or game play will be identified to be selected in the High Performance “Futures” pathway.
