Southern Titans Outlast Eastern Phantoms in Late-Inning Thriller

The Southern Titans pulled off a gutsy 7-5 win over the Eastern Phantoms on Saturday at Tom Bateman Reserve, thanks to a strong final push with the bat and steady defence.

After a quiet start, the Titans opened the scoring in the third with a pair of doubles, including a clutch hit from Noah Russell to plate the first run. The game stayed tight, with the Phantoms tying it up late in the seventh through a sacrifice fly from Dion Nicholas.

Things really ramped up in the eighth, with Rylan Hunt and Conor Stewart helping the Titans take a 4-2 lead. But the Phantoms weren’t done yet — they drew level in the bottom half with a single from Jensen Mortimer and a double play that scored another.

It all came down to the top of the ninth, where Russell stepped up again to break the deadlock with a single, and Tremaine Roberts followed with a double to push the lead to three. That was enough for the Titans, who closed it out despite some late pressure.

Evan Woodford was solid out of the bullpen, throwing three innings and allowing just one hit while striking out two. Roberts, Russell, and Charlie Pavitt each had two hits for the Titans, with Roberts leading the charge with three RBIs.

For the Phantoms, Noah Romeo and Nathan Hanks picked up two hits each, with Romeo also driving in a pair. The Phantoms were a menace on the bases, stealing 10 bags across the game — but it wasn’t quite enough to get them over the line.

Warriors Overrun Firebirds in Commanding Win

The Southern Hills Warriors were too strong for the Central Firebirds, powering to a 12-1 win on Sunday at Tom Bateman Reserve in a one-sided affair.

The Firebirds got the early jump, scoring in the top of the first on a groundout from Samuel Finlay. But that was about as good as it got for them, as the Warriors took over from there.

Koby Postma and Jayden Hofman got the Warriors rolling in the first, each knocking in a run. Then came a five-run blowout in the second, led by a two-RBI double from Jaxon Valenti and some heads-up baserunning. Another run followed in the third, and by the time the fourth inning was done, the game was all but over.

Jaymee Ridley was reliable on the mound for the Warriors, giving up just two hits and one run over two innings. Meanwhile, Firebirds starter Charlie Moffat struck out seven over four innings but couldn’t contain the Warriors’ bats.

The Warriors piled on 12 hits overall, with Hofman leading the way going 2-for-2. Valenti and James Trinidad both finished with two RBIs. Defensively, the Warriors were rock solid — not a single error — and they turned a double play for good measure.

Perhaps most impressive was the Warriors’ running game, stealing 14 bases with Leyton Nagle, Hofman and Thomas Massimini all causing chaos.

The Firebirds showed flashes of fight — Finlay drove in their only run, and both Sam Crutchett and Cooper Truong picked up hits — but the Warriors were simply a class above on the day.

Wanneroo Giants Dominate Titans in Blowout Victory

The Wanneroo Giants were in cruise control on Sunday, thumping the Southern Titans 14-1 in a dominant display at Tom Bateman Reserve.

The Giants wasted no time, piling on six runs in the first inning through a mix of clean hitting and Titans errors. Taylor Benseman and Austin Mackie both came through with run-scoring singles, while Benjamin Winthrop added a double to cap off the big frame.

They didn’t let up from there — adding two more in the second and five in the fourth, with Benseman tripling in three runs to really blow things open. By the time the Titans got on the board, the margin was already out of reach.

Mason Sloan and Ryder Carlino shared the pitching duties for Wanneroo, combining to give up just one run between them. Carlino was particularly tidy in relief, punching out four batters over nearly four innings.

Offensively, the Giants were firing on all cylinders, finishing with 12 hits. Benseman starred with three RBIs and a perfect day at the plate, while Sloan, Barber, and Kimber all chipped in. They also ran rampant on the base paths, swiping 10 bags for the game.

For the Titans, it was a tough outing. Ethan Lee Nione Lone copped the early damage on the mound, and the offence struggled to gain any traction. Tremaine Roberts was the lone bright spot, going 1-for-2 with the team’s only RBI.

It was all Wanneroo from start to finish — a clinical showing that showcased their firepower on both sides of the ball.

Carine Cats Walk It Off in Dramatic Comeback Over Warriors

In the most thrilling clash of the day, the Carine Cats came from behind to steal a 10-9 win over the Southern Hills Warriors with a walk-off double in the final inning.

Trailing 9-8 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Cats rallied when Ari Boekhorn smacked a clutch two-run double to seal the deal and spark celebrations.

The Warriors started strong, scoring four runs in the second and adding another in the third thanks to sharp hitting from Koby Postma and Evan Dellaca. They briefly regained the lead again in the fifth after a string of hits from Thomas Massimini, Jaxon Valenti, and Postma had them up 9-6.

But Carine weren’t going quietly. They tied the game in the third and edged in front in the fourth with a single from Tobias Waddle, before the Warriors hit back again. That set the stage for Boekhorn’s game-winning moment.

Boekhorn also started on the mound and drove in three runs with the bat, going 2-for-3. Aiden George matched his two-hit effort, while Aidan Corkill showed patience at the plate with three walks.

Postma led the Warriors with two RBIs, part of a solid team effort that included 10 hits and eight stolen bases. Valenti and Rylan Ottoway were livewires on the bases as well.

Despite out-hitting Carine, the Warriors couldn’t quite put them away. The Cats’ eight walks and aggressive baserunning helped keep them in the game long enough to pull off the win in classic walk-off fashion.
